The Quid N LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Take a Page From My Book Faith Dehghan | 3L
Happy New Year! I hope the break was restful and rejuvenating. Winter break is one of my favourite times of the year and not for the reason you may initially think. While the holidays are a special time, they are not my main reason for loving the winter break. During winter break, lif e comes to a standstill of sorts. I forget about my responsibilities for a while, because frankly I can. No longer is a semester full of work looming over me, nor am I stressed out about final evaluations. Winter break is a time where I get to do nothing. Well, not absolutely nothing. In fact, I usually spend my winter breaks reading. Before coming to law school I was an avid reader. I read 60-70 books a year and I was able to manage lif e while still having time to read. Enter law school and the plethora of readings assigned. By the time I got through my legal readings I was too exhausted and burnt out to read anything for pleasure. Reading slowly became a seasonal activity for me and the ultimate season to read is

winter break. There’s no need for a vacation when I can turn a page and explore a new world. I like to engage in both a reading marathon and a sprint at the same time. I do not stop reading, but at the same time I am trying to read as many books as possible, as quickly as possible, as I am always horribly behind on my reading goal.
This year, I managed to read 7 books over the break. Was it an amazing, relaxing time? Yes, so much so that I didn’t want it to end. So, I thought to myself, why should it? Don’t get me wrong, reading and actually enjoying it during the semester is something that I had originally written off. Somehow though, I find myself in the midst of three books at the moment. Maybe it’s the 3LOL in me, but reading (for fun) is making a reappearance in my daily lif e and I’m ever so grateful to be able to once again make time for something I love. Thinking about getting into reading? Need a book to get you out of your reading slump? Here is a list of some of my f avourite reads: The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson Legendborn by Tracy Deonn Happy Reading McGill Law!
