McGill Law’s Skit Nite, one of my favourite nights of the year, is coming back on March 12, 2025. Song parodies. Musical theatre spoofs. Legal drama hommages. Thinly-veiled metaphors airing petty grievances. All are welcome–and expected–at Skit Nite. There’s only one rule: it’s got to be a funny and/or talented attempt at recognizing ourselves as a community. It’s for a cause, too, as all funds raised go to a Montreal-based non-profit organization. What’s almost as exciting: you can be a part of the acts, whether student, professor, or staff. Sign up by Thursday, January 23 at 5 pm via the link in @mcgillskitnite on Instagram’s bio. Auditions are the day after, Friday January 24 from 12-6 pm. I always recommend checking out McGill Skit Nite on YouTube to get an idea about what kind of acts the night is all about. In a gorgeous March 19, 2024 piece in these pages (Vol 45 No 16), Nicolas Kamran reviewed Skit Nite 2024: Back to le Futur. Like all of Nicolas’s writing, I recom-
mend the read. The second edition of a tradition revived post-pandemic, Back to le Futur was fortunately a rousing success. This is in no small part due to the work of returning co-directors Matthew Boulden and Justine Blanchette-Sirois, now alumni of McGill Law. This year, co-directors Dylan Lamberti and Emily Payne are working hard to put together Skit Nite 2025 alongside animateurs Ariella Ruby (1L), Jordan Ames-Sinclair (1L), Marie Jolicoeur-Bécotte (2L), Marielle McCrum (3L), Chloé Desjardins (3L), Carolina Muñoz (4L), and myself (N/A L). Audition or not, follow along on Instagram for updates on McGill Law’s biggest night of the year. It’s shaping up to be a good one. In the meantime, best of luck with the semester.
