Shops on Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven have been targets for thieves in recent months, causing businesses to suffer. Near the intersection of 85th Street and Jamaica Avenue, Scaturro Supermarket, a small neighborhood mainstay, was forced to hire security to combat the shoplifting, and Duane Reade said it is taking preventative measures.
