Josephine Savastano is Chief Lending Officer for New York and New Jersey for Valley Bank. Josephine joined Valley in 2018, following 5 years with Wells Fargo, running commercial lending teams. Prior to that, she has held leadership positions over the past 25 years at Sovereign/Santander, Citibank and European American Bank. In addition to her illustrious career in the banking industry, Josephine has sat on the boards of The LIC Partnership, The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the Staten Island Economic Development Corp. Though born and raised in Brooklyn, Josephine has spent the last 25 years living in Queens with her husband Richard, raising their 3 children.
A true champion of the borough, Josephine’s business acumen, determination, altruism and deep care for her community make her QCP’s Woman of the Year!

on 70 Years of Providing Support and Services to Adults & Children with Developmental Disabilities in our community.
THANKING OUR LUCKY STARS FOR 70 YEARS Since its inception in 1950, Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) has grown to become a major provider of services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Queens. QCP’s focus is getting the people we serve out into the community, at either volunteer sites or community-based employment. QCP’s Supported Employment Program finds jobs in settings such as department stores, supermarkets, and other offices and businesses throughout the borough. Our Day Services Program helps the individuals work on skills that enable them to be more independent at home and in the community. The QCP Children’s Center provides intensive training in cognitive, motor, socialization and communication skills necessary to mainstream the children into public schools. While our gala is different this year, we do not want to miss an opportunity to show our gratitude to our QCP family and our wonderful community of supporters. Despite the pandemic, and the havoc it has wreaked on our programs at QCP, and all in our community, we can Thank Our Lucky Stars, as there is much for which we are grateful. We celebrate the human spirit, we celebrate the heroism of our staff, and we celebrate those in the community who came to our assistance during our darkest hours. It is that special support that inspired us to create the “You’re Awesome” Award, bestowed upon special people or groups that went beyond for QCP in the early days of the pandemic. Our first recipients are The Afya Foundation, for their generous donation of PPE to our residential program, when PPE was hard to come by; and to MumsKitchensNYC and P’s Baking and Catering Services, Inc., who prepared more than 1,000 meals for our residents and staff, alleviating the pressure of around the clock care in our quarantined homes.
QCP Thanks our Lucky Stars for Josephine Savastano, who humbly accepted the 2020 Business Woman of the Year award. Josephine is a force in the banking industry and respected by all of her colleagues, realized by the success of our gala, our first ever presented virtually. It is OUR honor to recognize Josephine for her ongoing support, dedication and service to the communities in which she lives and works and we are grateful for the support she has generated for QCP and this opportunity to honor her. Proceeds from the evening will help QCP continue to offer programs and services to more than 1,200 individuals and their families on a daily basis. Through our comprehensive programs, we are able to promote the independence of the people we serve and provide them with the resources they need to reach their fullest potential, and lead an enriching and fulfilling life.
