KURA KAI QMC is proud to support this charitable trust. Embracing Hearts aims to give a defibrillator (AED) to every school or preschool in New Zealand with a student or staff member born with a congenital heart defect.
EMBRACING HEARTS Who Did You Help Today? is a QMC partner charity that connects volunteers with meaningful opportunities to support communities and whānau, and create a more equitable and sustainable Aotearoa New Zealand. Swing by the Faultline Coffee cart for a delicious drink or enjoy some tasty food from our fundraising BBQ, run by our rowing teams. There will also be fairy floss and the Mr Whippy ice cream van!
PERFORMANCES Be inspired, empowered and informed by attending one of the many speaker series sessions offered throughout the day.
FOOD COURT Stroll through the student-led market stalls and find a curated selection of enterprises and products made by students. Service initiatives, fundraising activities and our partner charity Wellington Free Ambulance are also on show. Be sure to bring some cash!

Wellington Free Ambulance, QMC’s partner charity, provides free ambulance and healthcare services for the Greater Wellington and Wairarapa region. Come and visit the Wellington Free Ambulance information stand to learn about CPR and how to practise safety procedures. Formed in 2005, the QMC Foundation Trust ensures the ongoing financial security of the College. The generosity of supporters has provided some of the facilities our students enjoy today. "What Happens When a Woman?" is an empowering song composed by Alexandra Olsavsky, arranged by US female trio Artemisia (Diana Lawrence, Alexandra Olsavsky and Kaitlin Foley). Voces Luce, our premier choir, and Mark Stamper, Director of Choirs, collaborated with the artists to perform a special arrangement. Renowned New Zealand filmmaker Charlotte Evans directed and edited a series of music videos featuring 79 QMC students, bringing the song to life in bold, unexpected ways. The result? A celebration of voice, vision, and the strength of women rising, together.

“As soon as I heard "What Happens When a Woman?", I could immediately see the film in my head - something choreographed, visually striking, and full of emotion. The song carries this quiet strength, and it felt like the perfect foundation for a piece that could celebrate creativity, diversity, and girl power in a way we don’t often see in school films. In a world where girls are still too often underestimated, what could be more important than reminding them of their strength, their uniqueness, and the possibilities that lie ahead? To show them the power of their own voice – and the power of standing together.

“We are incredibly honoured for our song to have been chosen by Queen Margaret College. This song is composed of questions about female identity and female empowerment, questions that are very important to the three of us. We have worked together for many years asking these questions about what it means to be women who decide where our lives go, who get to decide who we are and what we stand for. And we put all of that into this song. We’ve been honoured to have lots of different women and girls sing it. This is the first time we have a full school say, ‘This is ours’.
