AfterStarting

1.KeepenginespeedatlowidleuntiloilpressureisinNORMAL(Green)range.Ifoilpressuredoes notregisterinGreenrangewithin10seconds,stopengine,investigateandcorrectcause.

2.Operateengineatlowidlefor5minutes.Donotengagehydrauliccontrolsduringthisperiod.

NOTE:Measureengineoilandtransmissionoillevelswithmachinelevel,engineatlowidleandoil atnormaloperatingtemperature.

3.Measureengineoillevel.OillevelshouldbebetweenLOWandFULLmarksonLOWIDLEside ofdipstick.

4.Measuretransmissionoillevel.OillevelshouldbebetweenLOWandFULLmarksondipstick.

5.VOLTMETERshouldregisterintheGREENrange.ItneedleisconstantlyintheCHGorBATT rangesofthemeter,stopengine,investigateandcorrectcause.

6.FUELPRESSUREgaugeshouldbeintheGREENrange.IfneedleisinREDrange,withengine warmandrunningunderlightload,stopengineandservicethefuelfilters.

7.WATERTEMPERATUREgaugeshouldbeinGREENrange.IftheneedleisintheREDrange, stopengine,inspectcoolingsystemforleaks,obstructionsorblockage.

8.TORQUECONVERTERTEMPERATUREgaugeshouldbeintheGREENrange.Ifneedleisin theREDrange,stopengineandmeasuretransmissionoillevel.

9.NOCOOLANTFLOWindicatorshouldbeOFF.

NOTE:Whencoolantflowisstopped,theindicatorwillcomeONandahornwillsound continuously.

Ifthisoccurs,stopthemachine,stoptheengineandinspectforleaks,collapsedhoses,andother blockagesandobstructions.

10.PLUGGEDFILTERindicatorswillcomeONduringoperationwhentherespectivefilterbecomes plugged.

NOTE:IfthePLUGGEDFILTERindicatorscomeON,replaceorcleanfilters,seeLUBRICATION andMAINTENANCEGUIDEforproperinstructions.

Incoldtemperaturesoilbecomesthickandtheindicatorsmaymomentarilycomeon.Itisnot necessarytochangethefiltersundertheseconditions.

11.HYDRAULICOILHIGHTEMPERATUREindicatorwillcomeONwhentheoiltemperatureis abovenormaloperatingtemperature.

NOTE:IfthisindicatorcomesON,reduceload,observehydraulicoillevelsightgaugeforproperoil level.Stopengineandinspectoilcoolercoreforobstructions.

12.LOWOILBRAKEPRESSUREindicatorwillflashONandOFFiftheaccumulatoroilpressure isbelownormaloperatingpressure.

13.Iftheindicatorisflashing,increaseenginespeedtohighidlefor3minutestoincrease accumulatorpressure.

IfthisindicatordoesnotgoOFF,donotoperatemachine.Stopengine andinspectforbrokenhoses,looseconnectionsandobservehydraulic tankoillevelsightgaugeforproperlevel.

Correctcausebeforeoperatingmachine.

14.PARKINGBRAKEONindicatorwillcomeONandahornwillsoundcontinuouslywhen parkingbrakeisappliedandtransmissionengaged.

Donotoperatemachinewithparkingbrakeapplied.Damageto parkingbrakewillresult.

15.ALTERNATORindicatorwillcomeONifamalfunctionoccursinthechargingsystem.Stop engine,inspectalternatorbeltandelectricalsystem.

16.FULLTORQUEindicatorwillcomeONwhenevertheVCTCcontroloverrideswitchison.

17.PRESTARTFLUIDLEVELindicatorswillnotfunctionaftertheengineisrunning.

18.LOWFUELLEVELindicatorwillcomeONwhenthefuellevelis10%,orless,oftankcapacity.

19.SUPPLEMENTALSTEERING,ifequipped,indicatorwillcomeONwhenthemachineis operatedonsupplementalsteering.

IfthisindicatorcomesON,stopandparkmachine.Inspectsteering systemandrepair,ifnecessary,beforereturningmachinetooperation.

Duringoperationfrequentlyobservegaugesandindicators.AllgaugesmustindicateNORMAL (Green)andallindicatorsmustfunctionproperly.

BeforeStarting

Walk-AroundInspection

Foryourownsafety,andmaximumservicelifeofthemachine,makeathoroughinspectionbefore mountingthemachineorstartingtheengine.Lookunderandaroundthemachineforsuchitemsas looseormissingbolts,trashbuild-up,oil,coolantorfuelleaks,conditionandinflationoftiresand conditionofthebucket.

BeforeStartingtheEngine

ThismachineisequippedwithaPrestartFluidCompartmentLevelIndicatorSystem.These indicatorsarenotoperativewiththeenginerunning.Thissystemdoesnotreplacetheuseofdipsticks orsightgaugelevels.Itisintendedforusebytheoperator.Maintenancepersonnelshouldusethe dipsticksandsightgaugestoverifythefluidlevels.

Topreventpossibleinjurytonearbypersonnel,besureareaaroundthe machineisclearofpersonnelandobstructions.

1.Disconnectsafetyrodandfastentoretainingplates.

2.Measuretireinflationpressure.SeeTIREINFLATIONINFORMATION.

3.Measuretransmissionoillevel.OillevelshouldbeabovetheFULLmarkondipstick.

4.Observecoolingsystemcoolantlevel.Coolantlevelshouldbewithin1/2inch(1cm)ofbottomof fillpipe.

5.TurnPOWERswitchtoTESTPANELLIGHTSposition.Allindicatorlights,exceptFULL TORQUE,shouldcomeon.Indicatorlightsthatdonotcomeonmaybeburnedoutandmustbe replaced.RefertotheLUBRICATIONandMAINTENANCEGUIDEforthismachine.

6.TurnPOWERswitchtotheONposition.

NOTE:DONOTSTARTTHEENGINE.

7.LOWFUELLEVELindicatorshouldcomeONifthefuellevelisat,orlessthan,10%offueltank capacity.Addfuelifnecessary.

8.HIGHFUELLEVELindicatorshouldcomeONifthereisenoughfuelfora10hourdayof operation.IfindicatordoesnotcomeON,addfuelasnecessary.

9.LOWENGINEOILLEVELindicatorshouldcomeONiftheengineoillevelishalfwaybetween theLOWandFULLmarksondipstick.Addoilifnecessary.

10.LOWHYDRAULICOILLEVELindicatorshouldcomeONifthehydraulictankoillevelisat, orbelow,theADDCOLDmarkinsightgauge.Addoilifnecessary.

11.NOCOOLANTFLOWindicatorshouldbeON.

12.ThePLUGGEDFILTERindicatorsshouldnotbeon.

15.LOWOILBRAKEPRESSUREindicatorwillcomeONwhenbrakeshavebeenappliedseveral times,andpressurehasnotbeenrestored.(Accumulatoroilpressurebelownormal.)

16.PARKINGBRAKEONindicatorshouldbeONiftheparkingbrakeisengaged.

18.FULLTORQUEindicatorwillbeONiftheVCTCoverrideswitchison.

19.Foraccurateverificationof... ...fluidlevelsforoilorfueladditions,usethefollowing:

a.Measurefuellevel.FuellevelshouldbetoFULLmarkondipstick.

b.Measureengineoillevel.OillevelshouldbebetweentheLOWandFULLmarksontheENGINE STOPPEDsideofdipstick.

c.Observehydraulictankoillevel.OillevelshouldbeabovetheADDCOLDmarkinsightgauge.

PositioningSeat

Inspectconditionofseatbeltandmountinghardware.Replaceany defectivecomponents.

Alwaysweartheseatbeltwhenoperatingthemachine.

Adjusttheseatatbeginningofeachshiftorwhenoperatorschange.

NOTICE

Adjusttheseattoallowfullbrakepedaltravel,withoperator'sback againstseatback.Thiswillpermitapplicationofmaximumforceon thebrakepedal.

VerticalAdjustment-Pulluponhandletoreleaselock.Positionseatasdesired.Releasehandleto engagelock.

Fore-AftAdjustment-Pushleverforwardtoreleaselock.Slideseatforwardorbackwardasdesired. Releaseleverandmoveseattoengagelock.

TiltAdjustment-Pullleverforwardtoreleaselock.Positionseatasdesired.Releaseleverandmove seattoengagelock.

DamperAdjustment-Pushdownorpulluponlevertoadjustamountofdampening,forfirmorsoft ride.Releaselever.

NOTE:Seatarmrestmayberaisedandswungbackifdesired.

Foreword
