NOTICE
Caterpillarrecommendsthatthecoolantmixturecontaina minimumof30percentCaterpillarAntifreeze,orequivalent. Liquidsupplementalcoolantadditivemustbeadded,whennot usingCaterpillarAntifreeze,whichcontainstheproperadditive.
Neveraddcoolanttoanoverheatedengine,enginedamagecan result.Allowtheenginetocoolfirst.
Allwateriscorrosiveatengineoperatingtemperature.The coolingsystemshouldbeprotectedwitha3to6percent concentrationofliquidsupplementalcoolantadditiveatall times,regardlessoftheconcentrationofantifreeze.
Excessivesupplementalcoolantadditivegreaterthanthe recommended6percent,togetherwithconcentrationsof antifreezegreaterthan65percentcancausedepositstoform andcanresultinradiatortubeblockage,overheating,and/or waterpumpsealdamage.
Ifthemachineistobestoredin,orshippedto,anareawith freezingtemperatures,thecoolingsystemmustbeprotectedto thelowestexpectedoutside(ambient)temperature.

Theenginecoolingsystemisnormallyprotectedto-28°C(-20° F)withCaterpillarAntifreeze,whenshippedfromthefactory unlessspecialrequirementsaredefined.
NOTICE
Caterpillarrecommendsthatthecoolantmixcontaina minimumof30percentCaterpillarAntifreeze,orequivalentand acceptablewatertomaintainanadequatewaterpump cavitationtemperatureforefficientwaterpumpperformance.
Premixcoolantsolutiontoprovideprotectiontothelowest expectedoutside(ambient)temperature.Pureundiluted antifreezefreezesat-23°C(-10°F).
Onlyuseagreaterconcentration(above30percent)of CaterpillarAntifreezeasneededforanticipatedoutside (ambient)temperatures.Donotexceedacoolantmixtureof60 percentantifreezetowatersinceaconcentrationabove60 percentantifreezereducestheengine'sfreezeprotectionand increasethepossibilityofdepositformationinthecooling system.

NOTICE
Alwaysaddsupplementalcoolantadditiveorequivalenttothe coolant,orinstallaCaterpillarsupplementalcoolantadditive element(ifequipped).Neverusecoolantonly,exceptif CaterpillarAntifreezeisbeingusedwhichcontainstheadditive. Inthiscase,nosupplementalcoolantadditiveisneededon initialfill,butisnecessaryonamaintenancebasis.
Usesupplementalcoolantadditiveorasupplementalcoolant additiveelement(ifequipped).Thisprovidesa3to6percent concentrationinthecoolingsystemtohelppreventcorrosion.
Topreventoverinhibitingtheengine'scoolingsystem,never useboththeliquidsupplementalcoolantadditiveandthe supplementalcoolantadditiveelement(ifequipped)atthe sametime.Theuseoftheseadditivestogethercouldresultin excessiveconcentrationthatwouldexceedtheCaterpillar recommendedmaximumof6percent.
Excessiveconcentrationofanadditivecanformdepositson thehighertemperaturesurfacesofthecoolingsystemand createabarrierthatreducestheengine'sheattransfer characteristics.Reducedheattransfercouldcausecrackingof thecylinderheadandotherhightemperaturecomponents. Excessiveconcentrationsofadditivecouldalsoaccelerate waterpumpsealwear.
Supplementalcoolantadditiveisneededwhennotusing CaterpillarAntifreezeforpremixedcoolantsolution.
NOTICE
DONOTaddsupplementalcoolantadditiveatinitialfillwhen usingCaterpillarAntifreeze.CaterpillarAntifreezecontainsthe necessarysupplementalcoolantadditiveprecharge.Addition ofsupplementalcoolantadditivecouldresultinan overconcentration.
