AfterStarting

1.Keepenginespeedlowuntiloilpressureregisters.Ifoilpressuredoesnotregister,stopengineand investigate.

2.Operateunderlightloadfor5minutes.

3.Checkenginecoolingsystemwarninglight.Iflightison,stopengineandcheckcoolingsystem.

4.Checkcrankcaseoillevelwithengineatlowidle,machinelevelandoilwarm.Oillevelshouldbe betweenADDandFULLmarksonENGINERUNNINGsideofdipstick.

5.Checktransmissionoillevelwithengineatlowidle,machinelevelandoilwarm.Oillevelshould bebetweenADDOILandFULLmarksondipstick.

6.Checkhydraulicoilfilterchangeindicator.IfREDplungerislockedinvisibleposition,havefilters serviced.

7.Checkaircleanerserviceindicator.IfREDpistonislockedinvisibleposition,haveaircleaner serviced.

Gauges

Checkgaugesfrequentlyduringoperation.AllgaugesmustindicateinNORMALoperatingrange. Theammeterreadingisnormalwhentheindicatorisatoronthe(+)sideofzero.

BeforeStarting Walk-AroundChecks

Foryourownsafety,andmaximumservicelifeofthetractor-scraper,makeathoroughwalk-around inspectionbeforemountingthetractor-scraperorstartingtheengine.Checkforsuchitemsasloose bolts,trashbuild-up,oilorcoolantleaks,conditionandinflationoftiresandconditionofcutting edges.

1.Checkcrankcaseoillevel.OillevelmustbeinSAFESTARTINGRANGEonENGINE STOPPEDsideofdipstick.

2.Checkcoolantlevel.Maintainlevel1/2inch(1cm)belowbottomoffillpipe.

3.Checkhydraulicsystemoillevel.MaintainlevelaboveADDmarkinsightgaugeortoFULLmark ondipstick.

4.Checkaircleanerserviceindicator.IfREDpistonislockedinthevisiblepostion,haveaircleaner serviced.

5.Checkfuellevel.

6.Checktransmissionoillevel.Oilshouldshowondipstick.

7.Checktirepressures.(RefertoTIREINFLATIONINFORMATION.)

8.Checkcontrolsforfreemovement.

PositioningSeat

Fastenseatbeltsecurely.Alwayscheckconditionofseatbelt.Seat adjustmentmustbecheckedatthebeginningofeachshiftandwhen operatorschange.

NOTE:Enginemustberunninganddriverseatedwellback.

1.Toadjustseatposition,pullleveroutandhold.Slideseatforwardorbackwardasdesired.Release leverandmoveseatslightlytolocklever.

2.Adjustdampingvalveforridingcomfort.

1.Moveleverupforfirmerride.

2.Moveleverdownforsofterride.

3.Forheightadjustment:

1.Moveleverforwardtoraiseseatposition.

2.Movelevertocenterdetentpositionformid-heightposition.

3.Moveleverbackwardtolowerseatposition.

Thisguideisareferenceforthenewoperatorandarefresherfortheexperiencedone.Read-studyandkeepithandy.

Operatingtechniquesoutlinedintheguidearebasic.Skillandtechniquesdevelopastheoperator gainsknowledgeofthevehicleanditscapabilities.

Yoursafetyandthesafetyofothersdependsuponcareandjudgmentintheoperationofthisvehicle. Acarefuloperatorisgoodinsuranceagainstanaccident.

Mostaccidents,nomatterwheretheyoccur,arecausedbysomeone'sfailuretoobserveandfollow simpleandfundamentalrulesorprecautions.Forthisreasonmostaccidentscanbeavoidedby recognizinghazardsandtakingstepstoavoidthembeforeanaccidentoccurs.

Regardlessofthecareusedinthedesignandconstructionofanytypeofequipment,thereare conditionsthatcannotbecompletelysafeguardedagainstwithoutinterferingwithreasonable accessibilityandefficientoperation.

MovingTheTractor-Scraper

Donotmovemachinewithoutnormalairpressure(lowairpressure lightmustbeoff).

1.Besureseatbeltisfastened.

2.MovelevertoEMERGENCYpositionforatleast3secondsbeforemovinglevertoRELEASE. (Seepage26foradditionalinformation.)

3.Depressbrakepedal.Pulllevertoraisebowl.

NOTE:Itispossibletostarttheenginewhenthetransmissionselectorleverisinotherthan NEUTRAL,butthemachinewillnotmove.Shouldthishappen,movetheselectorleverto NEUTRAL,thentothedesiredspeedrange.

4.PushandturntransmissionsafetylocktoOFF.Pulltransmissioncontrollevertodesiredspeed.

5.Releasebrakepedal.Depressacceleratorpedal.

Parking/EmergencyBrakeSystem

1.Ifparkingbrakedoesnotrelease,movelevertoEMERGENCYposition.Pushgovernoroverride buttontoraiseairpressureto150PSI(10,5kg/cm2).

2.ReleaseoverridebuttonandmovelevertoRELEASE.

EmergencyStops

Iflowairpressurewarninglightcomeson,oremergencywarninghornsounds,stopthemachine immediately.

Tostopmachineiftheservicebrakesdonot;pushemergencybrakelevertoEMERGENCYposition.

Brakeswillautomaticallyapplyifairpressuredropsbelowsafe operatingpressure.

Ifthetractor-scraperisstoppedonasteepgradebytheemergency system,donotreleasebrakes.

Afteranemergencystop,waituntilairpressuregaugeregisters NORMALbeforemovingthetractor-scraper.Ifairpressuregaugewill notregisterNORMAL,haveairsystemchecked.

NOTE:Inanemergencythetractor-scrapercanbemovedinfirstgearwiththeemergencybrake applied.Checkconditionofbrakesbeforeoperatingmachineagain.

ChangingGearSpeedandDirection

Machinemustbestoppedandengineatlowidlebeforepushingtransmissioncontrolleverinto REVERSE.

First,secondandreversespeedsareconverterdrive,andareselectedmanually.

Selecthighestusablespeed.Transmissionwillautomaticallyupshiftordownshiftbetweensecondand theselectedspeedduringoperation.

NOTICE

Neverdownshiftwithenginespeedabove1700RPM.Downshiftonly onespeedatatime.

DepressTransmissionHoldpedaltokeeptransmissionfromupshifting.Pedalmaybeusedwhen enteringacurve,approachingagrade,duringloadingorwhilespreading.

Improperdownshiftingcancausesuddenreductionintravelspeed.

Usehydraulicretardersand/orservicebrakestoreducespeedbefore enteringsharpturns,fillareasanddowngrades.

DonotmovetransmissioncontrollevelwithtransmissionHOLD applied.

Nevercoastdowngrade.Keeptransmissionengaged.

OperatingTechniques

Loading

1.Reducetravelspeedanddownshiftwhenapproachingcut.Moveejectortotherear.PushcushionhitchlevertoLOCKDOWN.

2.Openapronandlowerbowltodesireddepthofcut.Shifttransmissionto1stor2ndspeed.

3.Regulateapronopeningtokeepmaterialfrompilinginfrontofliporfallingoutofbowl.

4.Decreasedepthofcutifenginelugsbelowoperatingrange.Closeapronandraisebowltofinish cut.

Raiseandlowerbowlrapidlytopumpinloosematerial.Whenfinishinginloosematerial,raisebowl slightly,closeapronpartially,thenraisebowl.

PushLoading

1.Keepmovingwhilepushertractorismakingcontact.Pushcushion-hitchlevertoLOCKDOWN.

2.Keeptractorandscraperinlineforefficientpushloading.

3.Cutdeepaspossiblewithoutstallingtractor-scraperandpusher.

5.Allowpushertohelpmachineoutofcutareainpoorunderfootconditions.

6.Upshiftandacceleratetohaultravelspeedasquicklyaspossible.PushhitchlevertoCUSHION RIDE.

Hauling

1.MovehitchcontroltoCUSHIONRIDE.Carrybowljusthighenoughtoclearobstructions.

2.Travelathighestspeedpracticalonlevelground.

NOTICE
