Five DREAM DIPLOMA Compo nents

We want our students to seek out challenge and hold themselves accountable for their learning journey.

Aligning with our College value of courage, we want our students to think boldly, to be brave in the pursuit of their goals and to be courageous enough to advocate for positive change in their world.

Learning how to navigate relationships and negotiating tension or conflict of opinions by being direct with respect is a critical life skill. In all areas of life, students must be able to communicate effectively, in verbal, written and non-verbal form.

Through the DREAM Diploma we want to equip our students with the strength of character to reach as high as they can and push themselves out of their comfort zone in the pursuit of goals they have set for themselves.

We hope they will develop a sense of ownership and responsibility for their learning and growth.

Challenging themselves to aspire to something and then working with determination towards that goal - perhaps with a mentor or friends - helps foster a sense of independence, self-management and drive which will help prepare students for their futures.

Through the DREAM Diploma we want our students to experience a range of activities which are new, exciting or sometimes scary. In our fast paced and ever changing world, it is vital that our students are equipped with the necessary skills and strategies to manage their personal wellbeing and character to deal with problems as they arise. Challenging themselves to face their worries, in a safe and supportive environment, enables students to build a sense of their inner strength, independence, identity and worth.

We want our students to advocate for things that matter to them and take steps to be a change maker. Service is embedded in our Pymble community and the DREAM Diploma allows students the opportunity to experience the joy of committing to and undertaking acts of kindness and service. The benefits of prosocial behaviours are numerous and include developing an increased sense of social responsibility and a global mindset. Service provides the chance to build social connectedness and therefore grows interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills and a deep sense of empathy.

The DREAM Diploma provides the opportunity for our students to learn new skills by working tenaciously on goals they set for themselves. We want to foster a sense of resilience and determination in our students as they work on long term projects, independently and collaboratively. Learning to plan, prioritise time, chunk tasks and balance commitments are skills our students need to develop to flourish in life. Mastering a goal over a period of time ensures students understand the joy of delayed gratification and the pride in working hard towards a self directed goal.
