Paul VI ICE HOCKEY 2025-2026 MEDIA GUIDE

The PVI Panthers welcome back Paul Ottariano for his second season as the PVI Hockey head coach. Coach Ottariano is joined by his assistant coaches Mike Kilkeary, Mike Powers and Melissa Quarry. They look forward to continuing to develop the players’ athletic and leadership skills while having a fun and competitive season.
The Panthers Ice Hockey program is continuing to build a culture geared towards more than winning. Our student-athletes focus on academic achievement and spiritual growth while improving and developing their on ice skills. Focusing on these core values makes PVI the best high school for hockey families with an interest in developing the mind, body, and spirit.
Panthers Hockey is an important step in the future of our student-athletes. Players are provided with avenues to succeed both on and off the ice. Panthers Hockey players are held to high standards and we expect our players to grow into leadership roles, achieve academic
excellence, and display moral integrity. This culture and tradition will lead to success on the ice AND in the classroom while also preparing students for successful futures. PVI is one of the few schools in the area to recognize hockey as a varsity letter sport, while also providing monetary assistance to offset the cost of ice time which allows the team to practice throughout the season.
PVI Hockey alumni have gone on to play hockey for Avon Old Farms Prep School, Christopher Newport University, Dickinson College, Fordham University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Kent Prep School, Liberty University, Mount St. Mary’s University, Northern Virginia Community College, Old Dominion University, Radford University, Towson University, University of Connecticut, University of South Carolina, University of Virginia, Villanova University, Virginia Tech, Virginia Military Institute, and West Virginia University.

We are very excited and proud to have Coach Ottariano and his outstanding staff guiding our Panthers on and off the ice again this year. We are blessed to have so many dedicated and decorated coaches leading our student-athletes. These are the coaches who teach accountability, understand and encourage success, support each other’s programs, and work hard to build great teams based on faith and education. Coaches who are “teachers” and Christian leaders with character and integrity make a tremendous difference in the lives of our children. We are also very fortunate to have such a strong network of support from our alumni, boosters, parents, school staff and overall community. No doubt about it...PVI is truly a special place.
It is critical to recognize the value the athletics have as an extremely important part of the educational process. It is of even greater importance to recognize that our sports programs at PVI are an extension of our mission and our ministry. As a college-preparatory school, we strive to run college-prep athletic programs so that our student-athletes who are able to combine the right amounts of ability and desire can move to the next level. At the same time, a major focus of our athletic program is to help our student-athletes to develop lasting life skills to use as they move on to becoming college students, professionals, productive members of society, husbands/wives, and parents. When you surround a child with the gospel, discipline, integrity and truth, you can make a difference in his or her life forever. That is the core or our mission.
Finally, I’d like remind all of our spectators to be a “good sport.” Be a fan, but let the coaches coach and let the players play. Refrain from negativity directed toward opponents and officials. Let us create a positive environment for all involved – one where we all get the most out of the experience and where the emphasis is on positive relationships through important life lessons like hard work, competition and faith.
It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Director of Athletics at PVI. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve our community. We are truly ONE TEAM. #TeamPVI God Bless! ~ William H. Emerson, III, RAA

Matthew,
We are so very proud of you! Watching you play hockey for Paul VI for the last few years has been such a privilege and so much fun. We cannot wait to see what’s next for you — we are sure it will be great. We love you more than you could imagine and hope you have the best senior year!
Love, Dad, Mom, Nathan and Tyler

Congratulations and best of luck on your senior year of PVI Ice Hockey, B! It has been such a blessing to watch you skate and compete throughout your hockey career with your teammates and coaches. May this season be the best one yet! Dad is watching, from up above, and incredibly proud of you. Dream it; Believe it; Achieve it! We love you! Go, Panthers!

Love Always, Mom, Lawson, Becklin, Gia, Gracie, and Dad 2026

Grateful for four years of watching you play the sports you love! Wishing you all the best, always!
Love, Mom, Dad, and Natalie

George,
We are so proud of you! As you graduate, we are so proud of all you have accomplished and the person you have grown into. Through hockey you have become someone who works hard, shows up, and keeps going even when things aren’t easy.
Hockey helped shape your discipline and resilience, but your character — your heart, your sense of humor, and the way you treat others is what really stands out to us.
You’re ready for whats next, and we’re excited to see you and continue to grow, learn and chase your goals. No matter where life takes you we will always be proud of and always on your side.
Congratulations — this is just the beginning.
Love, Mom, Dad, Ella and Max

Jack,
Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. Watching you play hockey all these years, and the two of us traveling to games up and down the East Coast, has been one of my greatest joys.
I’m really going to miss it. But even more than the way you play the game, I’m proud of the young man you’ve become — mature, kind and thoughtful with limitless potential for a bright future. I can’t wait to see where you go from here. ~Dad

From the very beginning, you have shown a confidence and focus that set you apart. Your conscientious nature, and the way you stay true to yourself inspire us every day. We are so proud of the strength and kindness you bring into the world. We know you will be a success because of the character you carry. As you step into this next chapter, trust your gifts and walk boldly into the future God has planned for you. We will be cheering you the whole way.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5–6

With all our love, Mom, Dad and Jesse

From early mornings at the rink to late-night games, your commitment and drive have shaped who you are—a leader, a teammate, and a person with true grit. Keep skating toward your goals, both in hockey and in life. We’ll always be cheering you on!
Love always, Mom, Dad, Gia, and Stetson

Aidan,
Thank you for taking us on this incredible ride! We love you so much and are so excited for you. We are and always will be your biggest fans. Go #75!
Mom, Dad, Asha (and Bleu)

We’re so proud of the young man you’ve become Liam. You’ve always pushed yourself to do your best and to have fun doing it whether it’s hockey, school or fishing. Now comes your biggest challenge yet in college. We know you will do well and accomplish great things in life.
~Mom & Dad
