2026 #PVAAwarenessMonth Chapter Toolkit Our 2026 PVA Awareness Month Toolkit is now available! As always, this year's toolkit includes promotional materials to help PVA members and Chapters highlight and celebrate this important month when engaging with existing and new partners, local media outlets, social media followers, and the general public. All supporting materials can be used as early as Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and throughout PVA Awareness Month (i.e., April 1-30, 2026). As we approach this annual celebration, we ask that you please keep PVA's 2026 legislative priorities top of mind and plug them into your conversations whenever possible. This year's PVA Awareness Month Toolkit is meant to build on the messaging from the 80th Anniversary Toolkit, and contains: •

Six Ways to Promote PVA Awareness Month 2026 It's not every day we get four weeks to brag about PVA and the AMAZING people we support. To keep the conversation going and raise awareness of who we are, what we do, and why we do it, below are six (6) ways your Chapter can help promote PVA this April. 1. Highlight your Chapter's involvement in PVA Awareness Month by sharing information specific to your staff and members on your website and blog or hosting a PVA Chapter Facebook Takeover. Introduce your staff, publish weekly member spotlights, highlight your Chapter's favorite moments/memories over the last year, share a quote/quick soundbite on what your Chapter means to you, and/or develop a list of "Facts and Figures" specific to your Chapter. This strengthens your Chapter’s identity and fosters a deeper connection with your community. 2. Promote your Chapter's work in the community (i.e., upcoming clothing/vehicle donation drives, speaking engagements, etc.) by publishing behind-the-scenes photos or videos of your staff and/or members. Request members and/or staff email photos of them engaging with local community leaders, preparing for an event, and/or expressing their excitement about your Chapter's event via a short video clip using their cell phone. Offering a look behind the scenes makes your mission more personal and encourages greater community engagement. 3. Uplift PVA national and other PVA Chapters on social media. Boost content (stories or posts) from PVA national and other Chapters by resharing or commenting on each other’s social media posts. This will raise awareness of PVA’s work in communities across the country. 4. Engage your Chapter's social media followers. If a follower has posted, reshared, or tagged your Chapter's social media content, acknowledge them by thanking them for their support, liking their post, and/or sharing their posts. Acknowledging your audience builds loyalty and keeps the conversation going. Consider reviewing followers prior to sharing their content to ensure alignment with PVA’s mission. 5. Utilize sample social media posts below onto your Chapter's social media accounts to get the word out about your Chapter's efforts. They make it easy to get the word out while maintaining a unified message across platforms. Ask members to post on their channels, as well as to like, share, and comment on Chapter posts. 6. Get creative! Pick a day, a week, or a series of windows to share compelling content about your Chapter on social media and your website. Once you select your date and time, use the slot to generate buzz about your Chapter, staff, members, and community. Ideas include: "Fun Fact Friday," etc. Creating special moments like these makes your audience feel more connected and invested in your Chapter’s work.
