Letter to Editor of The Patrika: “Receiving with Dignity” In addition to the various levels of government, there are hundreds of non-profit organizations and many individuals in Abbotsford that do what they can to help the homeless and those on fixed incomes. This includes offering time and money, serving food and water or handing out clothing and other items for day-to-day needs, whether in-doors or in the street. It also includes doing what can be done to provide housing, health care and services to address mental health and addiction issues.

ne mother’s self-published book, launched just before the winter holiday season, offers a timely reminder of the power of love, family and diversity to overcome all challenges. Raising Josh: A Special Needs Adoption Love Story is a tribute to the children who have enriched the lives of Judy and John Boyer over the years, and a testimony to the family’s love and commitment to those children. Judy and John, already parents of four – including one child through adoption – adopted Josh in 1994. He was born with a genetic disorder, Down syndrome (or trisomy 21), and was the first of their adoptive children with significant special needs.

Misunderstandings can easily occur more through you feeling you have little choice in situations with others. You need to focus on priorities, which will likely include responsibilities of some description. At the same time something exciting and unexpected can arise.
