May lifts the spirits. Gardens bloom, evenings stretch longer, and the calendar fills with events that unite us—sometimes in celebration, sometimes in support. This month, we spotlight two brilliant local events. First, the Midnight Moo returns in June. Willen Hospice’s much-loved walk sets off from centre:mk with thousands stepping out in style. Now in its 16th year, it’s a powerful show of solidarity for a cause close to many hearts. Haven’t signed up? Now’s the time. Later in June, the Ride MK Cycling Festival debuts at Furzton Lake. Organised by Ride High, it promises music, movement and meaning. From road bikes to e-bikes, every pedal helps vulnerable young people. We also mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day on 8 May—peace remembered with music, reflection and a beacon at the MK Rose. And for something lighter, The Big Doggie Do returns to Willen Lake—dock-diving, dog shows and a lot of muddy paws. With our round-up of gigs and gatherings, May is full of reasons to get out and enjoy.
