bit more “normal” after several years of ups and downs. While it likely won’t return to the cheaper mortgage rates we've seen in the past, we'll all be happy if conditions become more manageable for buyers and sellers. Mortgage rates are expected to settle closer to the mid-6% range, which could encourage more people to move or buy after staying on the sidelines. That's the hope. Home prices in 2026 are projected to keep rising, but instead of sharp spikes, most markets should see steady, modest growth. This is partly because inventory is expected to improve as more homeowners decide to list their properties, easing the severe housing shortages we've experienced in recent years. For buyers, 2026 may offer more choices and slightly less competition, though affordability will continue to be a challenge. Sellers, on the other hand, may need to price more realistically and focus on presentation rather than assuming instant bidding wars. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the 2026 housing market is expected to be more balanced and less stressful than the roller-coaster years behind us. Let's pray that's the case.

Suspect A Scam? Report It! Scammers are constantly finding new ways to steal your money. Common scams include blackmail, charity, debt collection, debt settlement, foreclosure relief, grandparent/imposter, mail, mortgage closing, sale of nonexistent goods or services scams and so much more. If you suspect a scam, there are a few important steps you should take right away. 1. Contact your local police or sheriff’s office to report the scam. 2. Contact your state attorney general. Visit the National Association of Attorneys General website for the contact information of each state attorney general. 3. If the victim is an older person or a person with a disability, contact your local adult protective services agency. You can find your state or
local agency that receives and investigates reports of suspected elder financial exploitation by using the online Eldercare Locator or calling (800) 677-1116. If you or someone you care about is the victim of a fraud, scam, or financial exploitation, immediatly contact your local police or sheriff's office, state attorney general, or the FederalTrade Commission. Resolutions That Will Help You Declutter Your Home Are your possessions overwhelming your living spaces and causing you stress? Keep clutter at bay with these three resolutions: Tackle one pile a day. Clearing out clutter is often emotional, so don't overwhelm yourself by taking on too much at once. Instead, resolve to tackle just one manageable pile or surface a day. Stop clutter in its tracks. New clutter can have a habit of accumulating each time you enter your home. To mitigate this, put away everything you're holding when you walk in the door. Hang your coat and put your shoes on the shoe rack. Store essentials like your keys, phone and wallet in a drop zone so you'll always know where they are. Recycle unwanted junk mail and deal with important correspondence right away. Put groceries and other items away immediately. Put a pause on shopping. Consider taking a "nobuy challenge." This means not purchasing anything beyond the essentials (groceries, toiletries, etc.) for a specific duration of time, such as a month or longer. While the purpose of these challenges is usually to save money or reduce one's environmental footprint, it can also be beneficial for those with a clutter problem.
