Interview with Guy Wasko, author of The Four Greats. Guy, tell us a little bit about you.
I've been living in New York City for 17 years now this summer, married to Rebecca, three kids and a little dog. We've been committing our space, time and energy over those last 17 years to making our neighbourhood, the East Village and New York City overall better, primarily through the local church and various
various community organising activities and programmes. I now get to lead a ministry and an organisation called FOR.NYC, which exists to catalyse movement in the city for good by equipping resilient leaders, uniting the church and accelerating mission. Give us an overview of your previous books.

together faith and impact. We want to make these resources as applicable and accessible to people as possible. FOR NYC is the first book in our pocketbook series. It's essentially a practical tool on how to collaborate together and go on a mission together. The second book, Insights to Impact, is a field guide from a research project we commissioned with Barna, the State of the City Research Project. We took that manual and turned it into Insights to Impact. And now the third book, The Four Greats. What is it about? The Four Greats is essentially an operating system for mission for those who have a Christian faith. We're drawing from the teachings of Jesus himself in the Gospels. The four greats are love, go, do, together. So love God, go do the Great Commission, do it together and care for one another. So essentially, what we're trying to do is get people to think about what Jesus says is the most important thing. The great commandment is to love God and to love others. The second great is to go and take this love, expand this love and share this love with others. The third is this great compassion for one another, that we should care the
for the broken-hearted, the wounded, the less fortunate around us. And finally, it's the great collaboration. It would be really beautiful if we were doing all three of these together. So those are the four greats. What are you hoping is going to happen with this pocketbook? My hope ultimately is that it does, in fact, encourage people to be holistic, to be integrated. My guess is that there are people in every community who are more inclined to promote or focus on one of those four greats than the other. What I would hope is that there's more balance in recognising the role of faith in communities. What I would hope is that these four greats would help other people realise that the church is a major component of human flourishing and making the entire city better.
