Interview with Gill Taggart, author of Incidentally, As Told By, and Restored Recycled Remade. Gill, why don't you tell us a little bit about you?
My name is Gill. I live in Chester, but I was born in London. We've been up here 10 years. I'm involved in lots of voluntary work. And I'm a local preacher in the Methodist Church. What inspired and prompted you to

Well, Incidentally, it's not exactly a sequel to my previous book, but it is in the same vein. As Told By, my second book, was about Bible characters telling their own stories. So like obviously, imagining how Moses would tell his story of the Red Sea and all of that. Incidentally featured Bible characters who may not be quite as well known, like Bartimaeus, Barnabas, Timothy and even Judas

Judas Iscariot. I've got 12 incidental characters, but there are heaps more incidental characters I could have chosen. Is there a message in this book that you're trying to say to people? Very much so. That's my own story, really, and something I keep trying to remind myself. We never know what impact we're having on people. We may think it's only the people who are employed, who've got the jobs, the degrees, the money, the status, who can make any kind of difference to the world and to God's kingdom. And most of us have no idea how much impact we can have with a smile, a kind word, an encouragement, a hand on the shoulder, an action or a word that we may not even think is important can turn out to make all the difference for someone. They may just smile at you and pass you hymn books. They may sweep the floors and keep the place looking tidy. They may just quietly sit alongside you and give you a tissue if they sense you need one or celebrate a small family joy with you or something like that. What would you say to those who feel like they're a kind of a side
side character in the story? God loves you. Going back to the theme of my first book, you can be the person that God made you to be. And you never know what impact you're having on somebody else. Small actions can lead to big results. Even if you're never getting those big results and compare ourselves with others and think we're not as good as them, God sees every one of us. He made us to be exactly who we are. So we're never a disappointment to Him. Now your third book is published worldwide. How does that make you feel? Well, I'm glad I've done it. I'm glad that people are reading them and finding them to be encouraging. That's all I could hope for, really.
