I'm a Christian minister with a Pentecostal denomination called Elim. Up until about a year and a half ago, I was leading the denomination nationally in the UK. It's also a very large charity. But I've stepped aside for a quieter life, and hopefully I'm more creative. Apart from just being

So my father died in 2012 in Cardiff
Cardiff, the same city that I'm in. He was a great book collector, a pastor, a scholar and a historian. In the midst of clearing out his house, I found a typewritten manuscriptofabookonaWelsh preacher. There were various floppy discs, but I didn't have a completecopy.Iwasjustsobusy so I filed it away and one day, Matt and I talked about it. By the end of that phone call, it allowed me the opportunity to think fresh andtosuddenlygetreallyexcited about the possibility of releasing it. So I was off writing in the autumn but also in parallel, curating and bringing together this book that is now called The Revivalist on the life of a man called Stephen Jeffreys. Written bymyfather.
Just give us a little pen picture of Steve Jeffreys and maybe somethinghedid.
So back at the beginning of the 1900s, there was what was known as a revival in Wales. Stephen Jeffreys was a miner and he had an encounter with Jesus in his life. A little while later, he was invited to a Welsh chapeltospeakandthepeoplein the village called Cwm Turc asked him to stay. And from that moment on, he began to travel and share this message of great faith
faith and hope. We're trying to put that together in the book about this lesser-known figure, even in Welsh life, who had an impactonnationsandcities.
How do you feel about your father Desmond Cartwright's bookbeingpublished?
I feel really excited. What stood out to me was very clearly that bringing my dad's manuscript to abookwasalegacyproject.ButI hope it will have that ignition for some people into activating their hope in what could happen throughordinarylives.
How do you think he would feel aboutthisbookʼspublication?
I think my dad would be really excitedaboutthat.Ithinkhe'dbe surprised by the acceleration of events. It's not superstars that carrythis.It'sordinaryfolk.
