Interview with Cheryl Ann Watson, author of Broken Yet Chosen.
Cheryl,tellusaboutyou.
I'm a mum and a gran. I've got two grandkids. Very happily married and have just moved to the north coast of Natal. I'm also a businesswoman with my husband. We're in a valve automation business that deals mainly with the petrochemical industry. We supply valves and ac
flowing through valves without someone having to open and manually close them. My husbandisthetechnicaloneand I'monthefinanceside.
I never did. Someone made a comment to me many years ago andsaid,“You'regoingtowritea book,ˮandIlaugheditoff.ThenI happened to go to a conference calledLivingfromtheInsideOut. a Whendidyoufirstthink,“I'dlike towriteabookˮ?
They said, "If money wasn't an issue and you couldn't fail, what weresomeofthethingsthatyou would do? List them all." And on there, I thought, "Oh, I'll write a book." And a week later, you calledme.Andthat,tome,wasa goosebump moment. And that's literallyhowitcametobe.
And you've written Broken Yet Chosen.What'stheheartofthe messageofyourbook?
I think the heart of it is that it doesn't matter how many times you screwed up, God has a plan. Somanypeoplesteerawayfrom any kind of relationship with God or whoever because they feel disqualified. I believe this book actually shows that none of that disqualifies you. You know, there was a situation where I messed up so badly in so many areas. AndthenIhaddivineintervention in my life. But even then, I felt I didn't fit the mould. I couldn't conform to what I thought I neededtobeaffirmed.BecauseI was so sold out on my new discovery, I ended up just going ahead and doing it from my home. I had so much to unlearn beforeIcouldlearn.Andwiththe results, it was realised that if we justactuallystaytrue,it'llallwork out. It's not immediate. It's a process.Justbeyou.
Your book is now published. Howdoesthatmakeyoufeel?
Terrified,tobequitehonest.Ifeel exposed. I mean, I had people to consider that I was in a way throwing under the bus in the process. I realised that some of the biggest lessons were ones that were the hardest to share. But if I didn't put them there, I was going to be stopping somebody from dealing with a huge mountain that they didn't necessarily have to go through. SoIsaid,okay,I'mgoingtoputit alloutthere.
What's the one hope you have aboutyourbook?
I hope it gives hope and enlightens people about the realityofhowifyoureallybelieve and trust, you will overcome and youwillbeabletolookbackand saynothingisimpossible.
Itdoesn'tmatterhow manytimesyou screwedup,God hasaplan.
