ABOUT THE GUILD
Founded in 1968, the Longmont Symphony Guild is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Longmont Symphony Orchestra through fundraising and community outreach. The Guild is a proud advocate for the arts in Longmont and has raised over $100,000 over the last decade for the Orchestra. For over 50 years, the Guild has put on well-loved community events to promote and benefit the Orchestra, while also contributing to our vibrant Longmont community.

The Guild is always open to new members or volunteers! Join us as a member to support the Symphony year round, or support us as a volunteer at any of the Symphony performances or Guild events.
The Guild is entirely volunteer-run and supported by generous donations from the Longmont community. From homeowners opening their doors, to community members and businesses donating their time, talents or funds, we rely on your participation for the continued strength of our symphony.

The Home Tour is the newest addition to the Guild’s community events. In its second year, this one-of-a-kind experience invites you inside some of Longmont’s most unique homes. Each year we feature a different neighborhood, showcasing its character through architecture and design.
NUTCRACKER COOKIE SALE & SILENT AUCTION
Now in its 37th year, the beloved cookie sale during the Nutcracker Ballet performances continues to delight children, parents, and grandparents alike. Building on this tradition, last year the Guild introduced a silent auction featuring unique items from local artisans, restaurants, and shops.
GARDEN TOUR
For five decades, the LSO Guild Garden Tour has been a mustsee summer event. Drawing visitors from across the Front Range, this curated tour highlights enchanting gardens throughout Longmont and features performances by symphony musicians. It’s a celebration of nature’s beauty and the creativity of Longmont’s community. Join us next summer to experience it for yourself!

This Edwardian Vernacular–style home was built in 1897 by Frank Wiggins for Jarvis Marvin Fox and his family. Fox, a prominent businessman, built Longmont’s first flour mill. His eldest daughter Mabel married Frank Downer, founder of the Great Western Sugar Company and Mayor of Longmont from 1898–1899. Known as the Fox-Downer home, many families have lived here. The house has been renovated several times, even converting to a multifamily dwelling. In 1950, it was reconverted to a single-family home, where one family lived for 50 years.
The Fox-Downer home received its Landmark designation in 1986. The barn is part of the designation and is the original carriage house.
Our family bought the home in 2017 Shortly after we moved in, the previous owners from 1950 visited and were amazed to see the restored hardwood floors they never knew were under the carpets! Since then, Fox-Downer relatives have visited us to share information and pictures.
When we bought the home, we turned the carriage house into our office. We recently renovated the kitchen and first floor, upgrading to a modern space for our family of six.

The William Butler House, rich in historical significance and character, is a home with a captivating story. Built in 1884 by William Butler, this property is one of the first homes in Longmont, located within the original square mile of the city. The expansive lot adjoins Old Mill Park which features 19th century cabins, gazebo and gardens. The main floor of this two story home, features soaring ceilings, beautiful wood floors, and original period details. The upper level includes four bedrooms.
The lush yard boasts plum, apple, pear, Japanese maple, and mulberry trees, along with grapevines and raspberry and blackberry bushes. The history of the land on which the house was built dates back to 1866 when John Bertwistle received a patent from the United States Government. In 1871, the lots were purchased by Daniel S. Coffman of the Chicago-Colorado Colony, who then sold the property to William and Louisa T. Butler in 1884, giving rise to the name "Butler House " William Butler was an avid mountain climber who even celebrated his eighty-fifth birthday by climbing Long's Peak.
The house later changed hands to the Burbank family and then to the Mumford family. Local legends speak of many sisters with floral names who skated on the Mansard roof, adding to the charm of this Second Empire architectural style home.
