Welcome to Bohunt Horsham I would like to thank you for your interest in our school. It is my privilege to be the first Headteacher of this new school at the heart of the community in Horsham. I am thrilled to be leading a school that is already characterised by engaged and dedicated young people with enormous potential. I believe that for children to succeed in school, they must feel safe and happy. At Bohunt Horsham, we provide a caring and inclusive environment in which your child can thrive. The relationship between our school and our students’ families is vital in ensuring that first element of our ethos – enjoyment.
Bohunt Horsham is a new coeducational, all-through school in Horsham, the third newly opened school in the successful Bohunt Education Trust (BET). We opened to 120 students in Year 7 in 2019 in the centre of Horsham and our brand new, purpose-built school is currently in development north of the town.
A love of learning is something we value highly as a staff, we encourage thought, and explicitly teach skills of listening and debate in lessons across the curriculum; this creates an atmosphere of highly engaged and mutually respectful learning.

Welcome to Bohunt Education Trust When full, Bohunt Horsham will provide a high quality, seamless education from ages four to 16, for approximately 1,600 children in the local area. These young people will benefit from the innovative approach to education that is the hallmark of all Bohunt Education Trust’s schools, and from being part of a vibrant, dynamic local trust, which has already proven its capacity to deliver a high quality, educational experience. Our success is based on an approach, which combines the highest expectations, an ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’ and a sensitivity to learners’ individual needs. We believe education should be enjoyable. We are passionate about learning and determined there be no ceiling to student experience or outcomes. Our commitment is to enable students to achieve outstanding grades and be ‘game changers’, innovators and leaders. We are thrilled to have Georgette Ayling as the Headteacher of the new Bohunt School in Horsham, at such an exciting period of its journey and I look forward to welcoming you to the Bohunt ERA.
About our school Bohunt Horsham is a school that strives to develop the whole child as an individual; we encourage all our students to participate in their school life and to shape this new school through their voices and their actions. We are a community that supports one another to excel and we recognise the important role we play in our local area. Through outreach work, charitable events, community projects and our focus on outdoor learning we create responsible global citizens and ensure that our students leave us equipped and committed to make the world a better place. We are an all-through school that benefits from working collaboratively across educational phases, taking the best practice from each phase and using it to improve impact and provision across the school. An all-through school offers the best of both worlds. Our older students will benefit from experiences of leadership and mentoring the students in earlier educational phases whilst our younger students will benefit from excellent role models and state‑of‑the-art, purpose-built specialist facilities.

Highest expectations We have an excellent staff with high levels of expertise and subject specialism across the curriculum and beyond. As a new, all-through school we have attracted broad fields of interest in all our roles, both teaching and non-teaching and, as a consequence, are able to deliver exceptional teaching and learning across the school. At Bohunt Horsham, learning is a process of taking considered risks, making inevitable mistakes and subsequently achieving success. Our high expectations extend beyond the classroom and we explicitly teach, model and insist upon high levels of respectful conduct from our students at all times. A culture of high expectations requires a safety net of support and we have an effective pastoral system to provide exactly that.

The Bohunt family We believe that our commitment is not just to our students but to their families. Before your child starts at Bohunt Horsham we will involve you in school life with events to welcome you and to support you in getting your child ready to join our community. We work with our families for a common goal, to help raise children who have the skills and knowledge as well as the characteristics they need to go out into the world as happy, safe and successful adults. We are a non-selective school and our admissions policy prioritises students who are looked after, those with an education health care plan, then those with siblings already attending the school and those with a parent working at the school. Places are then allocated based on geographical distance from the site of the permanent school, postcode: RH12 4QR. Our admissions policy can be found on our website, www.bohunthorsham.com

Highly qualified staff offer exceptional experiences outside the curriculum and beyond the school gates. Students are challenged to work things out, take risks and experience new ideas, emotions and activities. A focus on expressive arts and culture encourages all students to become adept and confident communicators.
CURRENT EXAMPLES FROM ACROSS THE TRUST INCLUDE: • Expeditions to the Arctic, Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan to complete scientific research on space, meet local people and trek in remote areas. • An outdoor classroom integrated into our new school site means that outdoor learning is an expectation for all students. We also offer an extensive outdoor experience programme including Year 8 activity camp, Year 9 Bushcraft camp, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award. • Annual ski trips. • Fieldtrips to Europe and a variety of British locations. • Opportunities to perform at events such as local festivals, school musicals, variety shows and weekly school assemblies. • Dance, Language and Sports Leaders Awards. • Bohunt’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Festival. • Cross-Trust opportunities and pioneering activities, such as cross‑cultural education experiments.

Building our future We opened our doors to 120 students in Year 7 in September 2019; based in Arun House on Hurst Road, whilst our brand new, purpose-built school is under construction on Rusper Road, north of Horsham, we have been unwavering in our high expectations. We have delivered on our promise to ensure specialist teaching spaces for subjects such as Art, Music, Drama, PE and Science even whilst in temporary accommodation and have offered a broad range of extra‑curricular clubs, visits and experiences from day one. Our new school building, on track to be delivered in 2021, is an expansive greenfields site, with excellent facilities in all areas of the curriculum such as sports, technologies (including a robotics laboratory), expressive and performing arts, an outdoor classroom and shared specialist teaching spaces designed for safe and effective use by students across educational phases.
