Business grows while staying connected to roots Target Installations offers residential and commercial mechanical services
Target Installations owner Jamie Windsor says his business has grown over nearly 28 years by staying connected to its roots in the qathet region. The company, which provides plumbing, heating, gas, HVAC and fire protection services, was founded after Windsor returned to Powell River following graduation in 1989. He briefly moved to Vancouver, then came home and worked at Myrtle Point Golf Club before being approached by Pete Formby of Pete’s Plumbing. “Having no clue what plumbing was, I said, ‘Sure, why not,’” explains Windsor, who worked with Formby from late 1989 to 1998. When the company shifted its focus to retail, Windsor later worked briefly with Falcon Electric. He says owner Ian Milsom encouraged him to start his own business and helped him get set up. “I owe Ian a great deal of thanks for pointing me in the right direction.” Windsor started out working from a 1968 Chevrolet pickup truck, building a client base before buying his first van and hiring his first apprentice.
