Tim Anderson, Ph.D.
Head of
School
Welcome, everyone! Our students have been diligently working on this special production to honor their Grandparents and Grandpals. They have enjoyed learning and singing about the fruits of the Spirit. Thank you, Ms. Winter, for all of your hard work. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students at Providence, we thank you for visiting our campus.

We welcome you to the 2026 Lower School Grandparents and Grandpals Day, “Life, Love, and The Pursuit of Happiness.” I know that my maternal grandparents were two of the most influential people in my life and they so deserved honor and celebration. We know you will enjoy our lower school students as they sing songs, play instruments, dance and cheer. Thank you for the role that you play in each of their lives. Please sit back, relax and enjoy this special program designed just for you. On behalf of the entire lower school faculty and staff, thank you for pouring into your grandchildren and providing them with a Godly heritage that they can follow! We love and value each and every one of you.

As the Music Director and Producer of the Lower School Grandparents Day Program, I would like to welcome you to our presentation of “Life, Love and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Our Lower School is blessed to be able to provide an array of opportunities for young children to learn to sing, play instruments, to dance, and to perform on stage. We are honored to have you as our honorary guests during this Grandparents Day presentation.
A special thank you to Mrs. Mills and all of the teachers and assistants making this program possible! I would like to thank Dr. Tim Anderson and Mrs. DeShuan Mills for being so supportive of the arts here at Providence. I pray you enjoy the performance and create a special memory with your Grandchildren today. I pray that this program brings Glory to Jesus for being the King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords.

CAMERON DEARY is a Jacksonville-based pianist and accompanist with over 20 years of experience, bringing warmth, versatility, and a genuine love for collaboration to every musical setting. His background spans choral music, musical theater, and praise and worship, reflecting a lifelong passion for supporting others through music. An alumnus of Providence, Cameron served on the Chapel Leadership Worship Team and performed with the Providence Band, experiences that helped shape his heartfelt, community minded approach to music making.
TRE GREGORY began playing the saxophone at nine years old and continued through high school, performing in both concert band and jazz band. Over the years, he has played in nursing homes and community gatherings. In the past three and a half years, Tre has also played guitar, keyboard, and cajon, helping lead worship nights, playing at beach gatherings, weddings, and other opportunities the Lord has opened. Music is more than a hobby for him, it’s a joy and a calling. He’s passionate about stewarding the gift of music faithfully, not for performance but for the glory of God and the blessing of others.

The Providence School 5th Grade Exploratory Band meets two days a week during the school day and is a great way to get an early start learning a wind or percussion instrument. This year we have many talented students in our group, and there is no doubt that they have bright musical futures as we continue to grow the band program in quantity and quality. Celebrating his 11th year as the Band Director at Providence, Jonathan Maerkl is grateful for the dedication of his band students and band families. Together, under his leadership, the Providence band has built an award-winning program. The program has grown to consistently receiving Superior ratings in Concert and Jazz Band, setting school records! Additionally, the Wind Ensemble has performed at State Concert MPA for the past two year, receiving A’s and B’s for an Excellent Ratings. To God Be the Glory!
Our 2025 Stallion Brigade Marching Band took home third place in class 1A at the Tocoi Creek FFCC Competition and earned a Superior Rating FBA Marching MPA for the fourth time in school history—and third year ina row! We have also had numerous individual band students earn Superior Ratings on solos at FBA District Solo & Ensemble MPA and FBA State Solo & Ensemble MPA. Besides that, we have had many students audition and earn spots in the Duval/ Nassau Honor Bands and the FBA All-State Bands. These are the kinds of accomplishments that we can continue to look forward to from our young instrumental musicians as they grow and God blesses our efforts.
Mr. Maerkl is excited to continue to build the band program at Providence School by providing students access to the best quality instruments, music, and instruction. Mr. Maerkl has a strong focus on individual musicianship, knowing that if each individual is strong then it is easier to have a great band, and that individual musicianship is the aspect of music education that gives students the most access to continued performances and scholarships after high school.
