Pearls & Roses is known for custom and made-to-order bridal, wedding guest and evening wear. Made from international fabrics, each design reflects a quiet heritage and celebration of craftsmanship, trusted by women across Australia since 1990.

Geelong’s pre-eminent bridal studio, Pearls & Roses, began with passion, persistence and a commitment to modern romance.
Established in 1990, the business started in a small corner of what is now a three-building boutique located on La Trobe Terrace in the heart of Geelong. Barely out of her teens, founder Karen Bourdamis was encouraged by her family to pursue her craft. Working initially from a single room, she was responsible for every stage of the process – from custom design and pattern-making to construction and final fittings.
“With each dress sold, I was able to reinvest in the next design,” says Karen, as the studio slowly took shape.
For more than three decades the workroom has expanded to include a team of highly-experienced bridal and eveningwear seamstresses. Guided by a commitment to craftsmanship, quality and care, Pearls & Roses has been part of countless milestones for women across the region, from the aisle to the Brownlow red carpet.

Danielle and Angus met at a house party hosted by Danielle and her sister. “Angus walked in and he immediately caught my eye, we ended up hanging out for most of the party as we just clicked straight away,” recalls Danielle.
The proposal was equally memorable. On a sunny Sunday morning at Torquay Beach – Danielle’s birthday – Angus asked, “Do you want your birthday present?” before dropping to one knee. “It was so special,” says Danielle, remembering the intimate moment with the ocean as their backdrop.
The couple selected Mt Duneed Estate for its modern elegance and timeless charm. Its expansive 40-hectare grounds provided a breathtaking backdrop for their 125 guests, perfectly blending natural beauty with refined style.













Danielle’s Kyha gown featured a strapless corset drop waist with buttons cascading down a layered train. “I knew the dress was exactly what I wanted – it was classic but also felt like me,” she explains. For the reception she changed into an Effie Kats skirt and crop top, designed for comfort and ease on the dance floor without sacrificing elegance. Angus wore a tailored Bellington Estate tuxedo in classic black with a personal touch – the couple’s initials and their wedding date embroidered inside the jacket.
The styling and décor elevated the natural charm of Mt Duneed Estate. The ceremony overlooked the estate’s manicured gardens while the reception made the most of its light-filled spaces. Haus of Blooms created lush arrangements of white florals and greenery accented by hundreds of candles, casting a warm, romantic glow.
Photographer Andy from Ten Acres Agency captured every emotion and moment while celebrant Tori Brown guided the ceremony with warmth and ease.
“Honestly the whole day/night was just perfect!” shares Danielle. Walking down the aisle, exchanging vows and dancing with friends and family created memories they will treasure forever. Their advice for newly engaged couples is simple. “Enjoy it, relax, take it all in and if anything doesn’t go to plan just move on and enjoy the day!”

Bonny Skin shares Sally’s steps to flawless, radiant wedding-day skin.
Six months before her wedding, Sally booked a consultation at Bonny Skin with one goal – to feel confident in her skin on the day, without last-minute treatments or unnecessary risk.
Following a comprehensive skin consultation, Sally’s clinicians created a personalised plan based on her skin, timeline and goals. Alongside in-clinic treatments, Sally commenced a tailored Medik8 skincare plan to use consistently at home. 6 months before the wedding

Monika and Ben’s wedding was a day steeped in intimacy, joy and the quiet elegance of Clyde Park Vineyard. Their love story began in 2018 at a summer BBQ when their eyes first met across a pool and balcony. Months later, on a moonlit beach in Torquay, they shared their first official date, complete with waves crashing below and a mixtape curated by Ben.
“Our connection was instant and we both knew from that very first date that this was going to be something incredibly special!” remembers Monika.
Years of shared adventures led to a Hawaiian proposal at Tantalus Lookout where Ben, after a day of snorkeling and hiking, presented a ring designed with the help of Monika’s sister. “He confidently says that he was never worried about whether I would say yes but more worried about whether I would like the ring or not!” laughs Monika.
The couple’s wedding planning was a thoughtful, shared journey. With nearly 18 months to prepare, Monika and Ben approached each detail as a collaboration, prioritising what mattered most. Monika focused on the venue, florals and décor while Ben ensured the food, drinks and guest experience reflected their shared style.

She swapped her heels for bedazzled Nike Air Force 1s for the dancefloor – a playful, personal touch. Ben’s crisp black-and-white Joe Black suit mirrored the understated elegance of the day, perfectly coordinated with their fur baby Charlie.

Nicole and Will’s celebration unfolded as a vibrant gathering of music, friendship and personality set against the surrounds of Runnymede Farm in Lorne. With around 140 guests in attendance, the couple transformed the picturesque property into what they affectionately called their ‘Big Love Bash’ – a joyful, festival-inspired celebration that reflected their shared passions for music, good food and spirited company.
Their connection first began years earlier behind the bar at The Village on St Kilda Road, where both were working in hospitality. Nicole initially mistook Will’s quiet nature for a language barrier. “I assumed he was European and didn’t speak much English,” laughs Nicole. “Once I actually heard him talk, that theory quickly fell apart.” What began as casual chats eventually deepened after a long night out, finishing with a sunrise tram ride and a kiss that changed everything. Will approached the proposal with quiet mischief on New Year’s Eve 2024 at a rooftop party hosted by friends. The theme asked guests to dress as what they hoped to manifest in 2025. After floating costume ideas the night before, Will returned to a joke Nicole had made and arrived dressed as a tongue-in-cheek groom. As midnight fireworks faded, he surprised Nicole by dropping to one knee with a small box filled not with a ring but Post-it notes that read "fill me with ring" – referencing a favourite Simpsons joke.
Convinced it was part of the joke, Nicole kept asking if this was real, until Will finally said, “Can you shut up, I’m trying to propose here.”
Planning followed quickly, with the couple working to a ninemonth timeline. They began by defining what they called their ‘pillars’ – exceptional food, great music, no curfew and a dogfriendly venue so their two dogs could join the festivities. “We wanted it to feel like a big, joyful celebration with the people we love,” they explain.
With Will working in events, he managed the logistics and spreadsheets while Nicole shaped the creative vision. Their aesthetic blended the earthy romance of 1970s bohemia with the glamour of disco, drawing inspiration from boutique music festivals such as Meredith and Golden Plains. Guests were encouraged to embrace the ‘boho disco’ brief, resulting in a kaleidoscope of sequins, flowing fabrics and bold prints.
Will’s suit was playful, bold and festival-inspired, blending boho embroidery with rhinestones and fringing that nodded to the disco theme. “I leaned into a fun, festival-inspired look rather than a classic formal style. It felt bold, expressive and perfectly in tune with the celebration we were creating.”












Nicole’s ceremony dress was soft cream crocheted lace with long sleeves and a small train, perfectly capturing 1970s boho elegance. The delicate lace and flowing sleeves created an effortless, romantic silhouette. “My second look leaned into the disco side of the theme –fun, bold and made for dancing," explains Nicole.
Food and music were at the heart of Nicole and Will’s Big Love Bash, shaping the day as much as the setting itself. Guests were treated to an Italian-inspired feast with Super Norma bringing a beautifullycurated course and Pete’s Woodfire Pizza adding a rustic, hands-on touch that kept everyone well fed and energised for dancing.
Music moved seamlessly across the celebration with Alison Thom providing the ceremony soundtrack, Jukebox Dynamite delivering high-energy live sets and DJ Scooney keeping the evening alive.
One standout moment arrived when Will’s own band performed a surprise eight-song set including Nicole’s favourite tracks like Go Your Own Way and Turn Back Time, culminating in a showstopping rendition of Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen.
“The dance floor was completely packed,” recalls Nicole. “It was one of those moments where you look around and realise everyone is having the absolute best time.”
Every detail was meticulously captured by Connor Vaughan, preserving the energy, colour and joy of the day while Faz from Iconic Pictures caught it all on film. For the couple, the celebration was defined by intentional choices and personal touches, from handwritten guest notes to curated music and food.
Reflecting on the experience, they share a guiding principle. “Have honest conversations about what matters most. Once you know that, every decision becomes much easier.”

Wedding planning often focuses on the big day. But one of the most practical ways to invest in your marriage might be something far simple – a 45-minute money date.
According to Charlie Daher, a certified financial planner at NGS Super who works with Australians on everyday money decisions, couples don’t struggle with money because they’re bad at it – they struggle because they don’t talk about it clearly or often enough.
A short, structured money date can turn finances into a shared conversation – making it one of the most valuable steps couples can take when starting married life together.
Most money arguments come from the same few issues
From Charlie’s experience, the biggest flashpoints are mismatched spending habits, unclear expectations about who pays for what and avoiding money conversations until something goes wrong.
“These are incredibly common issues,” he says. “And once they’re out in the open, they’re usually very fixable.”
A time limit keeps things calm
The idea of talking about money can feel overwhelming. Putting a clear time limit on it – around 45 minutes – makes it manageable and stops the conversation from spiralling.
“This isn’t about fixing everything,” says Charlie. “It’s just about checking in, calmly and without judgement, as a team.”

Structure matters more than spreadsheets
A good money date doesn’t start with numbers – it starts with tone. Charlie recommends beginning by acknowledging what each person brings to the relationship before looking at the basics – what’s coming in, what’s going out and what you’re working toward together. The final step is agreeing on one small action before the next check-in.
Different money styles don’t have to clash
Many couples worry that having both a ‘saver’ and a ‘spender’ in a relationship means they’re incompatible. Charlie disagrees.
“Savers help create security. Spenders help make room for enjoying life,” he says. “The key isn’t trying to change each other. It’s agreeing on simple guardrails so both styles can coexist.”
It creates space for the conversations people avoid
Money dates make it easier to talk about long-term issues including how time out of paid work for children or caregiving can affect finances over time – including superannuation.
“When money becomes a normal conversation, it stops being a stressful surprise,” says Charlie. “You deal with things earlier, as a team.”
It might not come with a wedding cake but if the goal is more harmony and clarity, a money date could be one of the most meaningful steps couples take before saying ‘I do’.

Lani and Noah’s wedding was a joyful celebration full of colour and personality. They first met years earlier as volunteers at a Victorian children’s summer camp before returning to their homes in Melbourne and New South Wales, never expecting their paths to cross again. Over a year later, reconnecting through mutual friends led to long-distance conversations, countless drives, and eventually Noah moving to Melbourne, turning a brief meeting into something lasting.
Noah proposed on a windswept, secluded beach in Kilcunda, with the ocean nearby and a photographer friend hidden in the bushes. After months of planning, the moment unfolded just as Lani had hoped. “All I wanted was somewhere quiet and near the ocean, and it was perfect,” she says.
With their wedding date brought forward so Lani’s grandmother could attend, the couple planned the entire celebration in just six months. They focused first on their non-negotiables: venue,











food, photography, videography and outfits. Mount Duneed Estate became the canvas for a wedding that was deliberately fun, interactive and relaxed. “I have attended a number of weddings where it feels more like being in the audience at the cinemas ,” Lani explains. “ I was determined to make our wedding as un-serious as I could.”
Colour became the unifying thread. Drawing from Lani’s love of blue and Noah’s fondness for green, the styling featured layered blue and green tones throughout the day. Ceremony floral “clouds,” alternating table runners and checkerboard stationery created a vibrant, cohesive look, all brought together with the help of Creative Bird Event Stationery. “Every time I see photos of the ceremony florals, I could cry,” Lani says.
Lani wore a strapless satin Evie Young gown chosen for its sheen and movement, paired with vibrant blue shoes she found for just $18. Later, she changed into an Elliatt mini dress with 3D floral detailing and light blue platform Vans. Noah wore a custom chocolate-brown three-piece suit from Institchu and styled with checkered Vans. “I left Noah to style himself,” Lani laughs. “And he absolutely nailed it.”
Their most unforgettable moment came at the reception entrance, when Coldspark fireworks lit the room, bubbles floated everywhere, and their carefully chosen music played. Unbeknownst to them, friends had brought bubble guns from the ceremony, filling the room with bubbles that added an unexpected layer of magic to their grand celebration.
Ultimately, the day reflected what mattered most. As Noah says simply, “I just wanted to be married by the end of that day, to Lani, specifically.”

Emmaleigh and Lachlan’s love story began more than eight years ago at work, where a close friendship gradually blossomed into something more. Years of light-hearted banter and shared office moments laid the foundation for their relationship and eventually Lachlan made his move.
“I think having a friendship before dating makes it feel like we have already been together for a lifetime,” reflects Emmaleigh.
The proposal took place November 2024 at a beautiful property just outside Winchelsea. Emmaleigh had a feeling the engagement might happen during the weekend away but Lachlan cleverly misled her by suggesting they were heading somewhere entirely different. When she noticed he was driving in another direction, her curiosity quickly grew.
As soon as he asked her to close her eyes however, everything became clear. A pathway lined with candles and flowers led to the end of a porch overlooking the mountains where their song played softly in the background as Lachlan got down on one knee. Unknown to Emmaleigh, he had spent months planning the proposal with the help of his sister and her partner who were waiting nearby to witness the moment.
The wedding, attended by approximately 125 guests, was a seamless blend of elegance and timeless style. Planning was a collaborative effort –Emmaleigh directed the creative vision while Lachlan oversaw the budget, ensuring every detail aligned with their shared aspirations. Early booking of vendors allowed the couple to approach the months leading up to the celebration with calm confidence, keeping stress to a minimum.
A black-and-white, candid aesthetic guided both the ceremony and reception with photography capturing the natural flow and emotion of the day. Emmaleigh wore a stunning two-piece gown by Kyha featuring a corset and skirt expertly tailored by Pearls and Roses. She paired the ensemble with Dolce & Gabbana heels and delicate jewellery including a sentimental bracelet gifted by her mother that incorporated diamonds and pearls from her grandmothers’ jewellery. Lachlan’s classic black tuxedo from Bellington Estate coordinated perfectly with his groomsmen, adding to the refined tone of the celebration.
One of the most memorable moments was seeing their almost two-yearold son walk down the aisle with Emmaleigh’s mother. “The most important thing for us both and the most memorable moment was having a gorgeous little boy apart of our day,” shares Emmaleigh. His presence made the day feel complete, a reminder of the family they have built together.
Offering advice for newly engaged couples, the pair emphasise the importance of perspective – choosing a beautiful venue and a skilled photographer allows the day to unfold naturally, ensuring that the moments that truly matter are experienced fully and remembered forever.

Siarn and Mitch celebrated their wedding with a vibrant garden gathering on the Bellarine Peninsula surrounded by more than 100 family members and friends. The couple first met at The Geelong Club during a Christmas party where a brief exchange about the music sparked their connection. Within days they were spending time together and by Christmas – just 10 days later –Mitch was already meeting Siarn’s family.
The proposal came in May 2025 at Scotchmans Hill, a location that would later become even more meaningful. Mitch disguised the moment as a last minute lunch but as they finished their meal a ‘helpful’ photographer insisted on taking their photo. Moments later Mitch was down on one knee. Siarn’s first reaction was equal parts shock and humour.
Although their wedding was initially planned for another venue, the couple made a spontaneous decision just 10 days before the celebration to move everything to Scotchmans Hill. With the help of Ruth and the venue team, the change came together seamlessly for their December wedding.
Siarn had always envisioned a colourful garden-style celebration with abundant florals, greenery and relaxed spaces for guests to mingle rather than a formal seated dinner. Rachelle from The Poise Place brought that vision to life with lush arrangements layered with seasonal fruit and vibrant blooms while Friday Hire installed a striking checkerboard dance floor that quickly became the centre of the celebration.
Siarn's gown, a Hera Couture design from Raffaele Ciuca in Brunswick, was chosen for its luminous, fluid fabric that shimmered softly as it moved. Simple yet striking, the dress caught the light with subtle pink and blue tones, creating what Siarn described as a ‘moving water’ effect.
Mitch wore a custom Institchu suit featuring a white jacket paired with R.M. Williams boots from Mr Brown’s Menswear.
Capturing the day beautifully was Mandy Wood while Keeley from MarryMeMurrihy made the wedding planning super easy.
For Siarn and Mitch the most memorable part was simply celebrating with their people. “Make sure the day feels like you – if you love it, do it,” says Siarn.

Ingrid and Nathan’s wedding was a celebration that perfectly mirrored their love for the coast, the ocean and the serene beauty of Torquay. The couple, who met through mutual friends in their small hometown, chose a venue that felt like a natural extension of themselves.
“The planning process was pretty straight forward for us,” explains Ingrid. “We visited Torquay often for weekend trips and getaways as we live in Warrnambool and knew Torquay was the place we always wanted to get married.” Their choice, the RACV Torquay Resort, offered sweeping coastal views that lent the day an effortlessly scenic backdrop.
The proposal had been equally memorable when Nathan proposed while on a sailing trip to Whitehaven Beach. “Nathan got down on one knee in the water, it felt like a dream. Whitehaven beach was so stunning and yet all I could look at was the new ring on my finger for the rest of the trip,” recalls Ingrid.
This sense of intimacy carried into the wedding day, especially during their first look. “Our first look was so special and intimate, it felt like the world went quiet for us to see each other for the first time,” she shares. That quiet moment allowed the couple to centre themselves before the ceremony.
Ingrid and Nathan’s vision of a ‘coastal chic’ wedding was brought to life through tones of white, blue and pale yellow, with décor that echoed their love of the ocean. The floral arrangements, crafted by Holly Spence of Flower Queen added delicate coastal elegance, tying the theme together beautifully.
Their guest list of 100 close friends and family ensured the day remained personal and heartfelt. Ingrid’s dress, easy to wear and perfectly reflective of her personality, complemented Nathan’s sharp, understated attire.

Mick and Carl’s wedding was an intimate and joyful celebration held at Provenance Wines, a venue that perfectly reflected their love of good food, wine and relaxed elegance. The couple first met on New Year’s Day 2020, connecting instantly despite not expecting romance. Their first date was at Ichi Ni in St Kilda –a Japanese restaurant that no longer exists – but the memory remains a cherished start to their story.
The proposal took place during a sunset getaway in Bali in August 2024. Mick surprised Carl with a playful $5 ring from Temu, prompting laughter and delight. Their wedding planning was focused on the essentials – venue, food, wine – and Provenance made everything easier with a curated list of trusted vendors, allowing the couple to find florals, music and other elements that matched their style.
The celebration was intentionally small with 70 guests at the ceremony and 65 at the reception, ensuring an intimate atmosphere filled with their closest family and friends. Mick and Carl’s style was relaxed yet elegant, embracing natural fibres and comfortable, wearable pieces. They both wore outfits from MJ Bale – navy chinos, sky blue linen shirts and casual jackets in sage green and lilac, designed to be worn again. Their rings were from Canturi, adding a simple yet personal touch.
Celebrant, Jessie Belle, brought a wonderful sense of fun to the day while seamlessly aligning with the couples style, weaving in heartfelt stories from their friends throughout the ceremony.
The florals by Whimsical Wildflowers Geelong brought soft Australiana-inspired tones and textures, perfectly complementing the setting while Tal Lemmens captured the day beautifully.
The Baker Boys Band kept the energy high for the couple and their guests.
In lieu of a traditional cake, a cheese stack from Bills Farms at the Vic Market provided a playful and delicious twist.
For Mick and Carl, the most memorable moment was walking down the aisle with their mothers by their sides, taking in the joy of their loved ones. “Take your moments to spend together, take a breather and soak in the love,” they advise.
