A Message from the Province Polemarch Dear Brother: This news organ, The Kappa Khronicle, is designed to serve a twofold purpose: first, to keep the membership informed regarding relevant activities taking place in the province; and, second, to provide a means of sharing timely updates pertaining to activities, especially at the local level. With poise and grace, our chapter reporters play a pivotal role in helping us disseminate information, motivate performance, promote unity, improve morale, and supplement province historical records. I personally applaud our local chapters’ efforts in the all-important area of volunteerism, which has been a great boon to our society. Perhaps it should be noted that concerned Kappa men, undergraduate and graduate alike, freely share their time, talents, and resources at one time or another.Naturally, they derive great satisfaction from helping others. As you are aware, it is an amazing honor to serve a great fraternity. There is no greater truth than this: We are incredibly ONE bond. We are always at your service as we continue to promote excellence—which, of course, is our North Star--in the Flagship Province. We have an inherent responsibility to keep the good name and the good works of Kappa Alpha Psi before the public at all times. In the coming days, I will be presenting ambitious initiatives that are designed to continue advancing our province’s forward momentum. As we go forth, let us endeavor to motivate others, to emphasize the importance of effective leadership skills, and to reflect on Kappa Alpha Psi’s time-honored recipe for ACHIEVEMENT: by the dint of our hard work and by our dedication to the honorable precepts of Phi Nu Pi. I sincerely hope that the material contained in this quarterly edition will be studied very carefully and put to the greatest possible use. MESSAGE FROM THE PROVINCE REPORTER

Brothers of the Flagship: It gives me great honor to serve as your Eastern Province Reporter and to bring to you the Summer 2021 edition of the Eastern Province Khronicle. This edition of the Khronicle features two undergraduate chapters and twelve alumni chapters for a total of fourteen chapters. Thank you all for your patience as we have navigated a new submission portal for the Eastern Province Khronicle. This would not have been done without the help of our amazing technology team under the leadership of Brother Byron Haugabook. I would like to thank the 29th Eastern Province Polemarch, Brother Charles E. Exum, Jr., for his leadership and for sharing his renewed vision for the Khronicle. Next, I would like to officially and publicly thank the committee members for their hardwork on this journey. I can say, without a doubt, that these brothers are dedicated to ensuring this process works for the chapters and the province. My charge to each of you is to take pictures at all of your chapter events and functions. If you do not have a chapter photographer, appoint one or ask for a volunteer who maybe attends most chapter events. Make sure that photos are straight, free of any blurriness and are not cut off (and of course in .jpeg or .png format). This charge ensures that your chapter is well represented in future editions of the Khronicle. I hope that you and your chapter enjoy this edition of the Khronicle. Dr. Howard-John Wesley wins the 78th Laurel Wreath Award By: Richard Mattox Eastern Province Senior Vice Polemarch Dr. Wesley is regarded as one of the most prolific and prophetic voices of justice and grace in our generation. An empathetic pastor who is not afraid to take on social and political issues, Dr. Wesley led community protest marches against the New York Grand Jury’s 2014 decision not to indict a NYPD officer whose chokehold led to the death of Eric Gardner. His sermon, “When the Verdict Hurts,” was acknowledged in TIME magazine’s July 29, 2013 cover story. His sermon titled “After Trayvon” has been regarded as one of the best sermons preached in the United States following the “not guilty” verdict in the State of Florida v. George Zimmerman case, when Zimmerman, who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, was found not guilty. Three of Dr. Wesley’s sermons, “When the Verdict Hurts,” “A Rizpah Response” (and with the black hoody he donned while preaching this sermon), and “Tell Your Own Story,” will all be archived in the faith-based collection of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture (NMAAHC) in Washington, DC. Known to challenge the mind and inspire the heart, Dr. Wesley is a much sought-after speaker for worship services, conferences, and revivals. His preaching became a favorite of President and Mrs. Barack Obama who have worshipped with their family at Alfred Street Baptist Church on several Easter Sundays. “Faith Forward,” his radio broadcast on the Radio One network, is one of the most listened to religious broadcasts in the Washington, DC, area and his sermons on YouTube have reached more than one million views. Dr. Wesley is a compassionate and visionary pastor who cares deeply for the members of Alfred Street. At the church’s CAYA (Come As You Are) service, he teaches and preaches to nearly 1,000 young adults, between the ages of 22 and 35, from the Washington, DC, metropolitan area on topics that are real and relevant to today’s young professionals. With his guidance, Alfred Street Baptist Church became the first and only faith-based institution founding donor of the NMAAHC with a $1 million donation. Dr. Wesley was twice recognized (2013 and 2016) by “The Root” as one of the top 100 most influential African-Americans in the nation. In 2016, he received the 2016 Chairman’s Award for his work in social justice at the 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards. A native of Chicago, Dr. Wesley is the product of the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools and graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a bachelor of science in biomedical and electrical engineering. While in medical school, Dr. Wesley yielded to the call of God and walked away from a path to a medical career to attend seminary at the Boston University School of Theology where he was a Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholar and a summa cum laude graduate in biblical studies and African-American religious history.

The 78th Laurel Wreath Award was conferred upon Brother Howard-John Wesley at the Virtual 85th Grand Chapter Meeting. The Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter held a formal reception during the Conclave to recognize Brother Wesley for this accomplishment. Several fraternity dignitaries including Laurel Wreath Laureates Brother John Jacobs, Thomas Moorehead and General Dennis Via were present. Our distinguished Province Polemarch, Brother Charles Exum, Jr., was also in attendance. Additionally, the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter also held an all-white reception on July 31st at the Wharf in Washington, DC to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment. Brother Dr. Wesley becomes the fourth Laurel Wreath Laureate within the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi.

A Dream Achieved and Not Deferred Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Keshon Kelly

Newman wins the Elder Watson Diggs Award Danville native Johnny Newman continues to exhibit the tenacity and work ethic that led him to the NBA. His success in business, real estate, and philanthropy runs parallel with his commitment to Kappa Alpha Psi and his community. Newman was introduced to the fraternity during his first year as a Richmond Spider and has been actively engaged to some degree ever since Newman received Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity’s prestigious Elder Watson Diggs Award on July 14, 2021. That honor is in recognition of Newman’s “stellar achievement and outstanding performance documented throughout his years of service to Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc,” said John F. Burrell, executive director. It’s the second-highest award bestowed upon a member of the fraternity. The award’s namesake is one of the fraternity’s founding architects who worked alongside nine others to establish an organization of principles and practices reflecting Christian ideals with achievement as its fundamental purpose. Newman’s accolades include efforts to develop the organization’s Sports and Entertainment Committee, which aided in

encouraging his peers to re-engage and return to the fraternity’s fold. As a result, the committee has helped to expand the “Room to Read” program under the present leadership and vision of Reuben A. Shelton, III, Esq. The program encourages the brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi to mentor youth across the nation through reading and civic engagement. In addition, Newman is leveraging his professional network to develop and host a television program titled “Nupe to Nupe.” The show will be a platform for fellow athletes and entertainers to share the influence that the fraternity had on their lives and careers. “I am proud to be a Kappa. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I am grateful that my professional experience has given me a platform to raise awareness and highlight the achievements of our fraternity and the standards we hold and value to help attract new members through that spotlight.” Newman credits members of Kappa Alpha Psi like his late high school basketball Coach Harry J. Johnson, community leader Kirby Wright, brothers Edward Thomas and Keshon Kelly as importations to his works in Kappa and in the Danville community. Newman’s story has always been about his commitment and drive as a team player. The conferral of the Elder Watson Diggs Award took place during the public meeting and awards program of the 85th Grand Chapter Meeting.

Porter, College and Career Hampton-Newport Success Business News Alumni Chapter's Retreat Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter 40th Polemarch By: Darrick Brown Hampton-Newport News (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Arthur Price The HamptonNewport News (VA) Alumni Chapter is proud to introduce its 40th Chapter Polemarch, Brother Melvin C. Porter. Brother Porter, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia is a fraternal product of the Middle Eastern Province; having been initiated into the Johnson C. Smith University Chapter, the Alpha Epsilon of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on November 20, 1993. Brother Porter is a retired military officer. He served for 21 years in the U.S Army. His military career included tours of duty in Iraq (2), Afghanistan, South Korea (2), and Saudi Arabia. He is currently employed as a civilian Security Asst. Training Specialist with the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Eustis, VA. Prior to returning to his Virginia roots, Brother Porter was an active member of the Ft. HoodKilleen (TX) Alumni Chapter, South Korea Alumni Chapter, Camden (SC) Alumni Chapter, and the Colorado Springs (CO) Alumni Chapter. He and Silhouette Antionette Porter currently reside in Suffolk, Virginia.

Petersburg (VA) Alumni Chapter (PAC) hosted their College and Career Success Business Retreat on 11 July 2021 in support of their Chapter Kappa League Program in Mechanicsville, VA. The event participants consisted of current male college students and several males starting their college matriculation in the fall. Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter (FLAC) provided collaborative support with two of our Past Chapter Polemarch’s Brother Sam Burns and Brother Carl Brown providing information and insight on careers in the Federal Government which focused on the Department of the Army Logistics Apprentice Program at Fort Lee, VA. Brothers Sam Burns and Carl Brown respectively both shared personal experience and professional expertise as the conduit for additional discussion on key areas that directly impact the overall success of young African American men entering the job market. These discussions expounded on the utilization of effective communication, professionalism, resume writing,

professional attire, optics, interview preparation, and execution techniques. Our Chapter relished the presence of our 2021 FLAC Scholarship winner, Mr. Christopher Parham who also participated in this outstanding business retreat hosted by PAC. His professional career revolves around education and is evident in his previous appointments at Fisk University and American Baptist College in Nashville, TN; College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL and in his role as the director of University Relations and Development at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) in Baltimore, MD. Hardy taught courses related to the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), the Greek Bible (New Testament), Introduction to Philosophy, and African and African American Philosophy. He has researched as a visiting scholar at the Social Philosophy Policy Center in Bowling Green, Ohio; the Oxford Round Table, Oxford University and Harris Manchester College in Oxford, the United Kingdom; the University of Nairobi and the Maryknoll Institute of African Studies in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, and at Tianjin University in Tianjin, China, PRC (The Peoples Republic of China). Hardy was honored as the 2016 Edward L. Beavin Scholar during his tenure at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, Kentucky. He is also a published author.

His most recent work, “The Descendants of Ham: A Commentary on African Stories in the Bible,” was published in 2019. He received his elementary and intermediate education in Indianapolis, IN, and his baccalaureate and master’s degrees from Central State University in Wilberforce, OH; The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD; Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH and Vanderbilt University School of Divinity in Nashville, TN. He completed his doctoral studies at Drew University in Madison, NJ, and he is a retired ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Hardy became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi in the spring of 1976 by way of the Columbia, MD Alumni Chapter. Many influential people in his community who were members of the fraternity during his younger years like his industrial arts teacher, Robert Williams, influenced Hardy's desire to become a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. Hardy said he did not realize the Columbia Maryland Alumni Chapter was in its infancy when he decided to pledge. He recalls that the chapter was filled with men of achievement dedicated to service, which he said embodied every man of Kappa Alpha Psi. He said that pledging Kappa Alpha Psi was an experience he will never forget.

During his early years in Indianapolis, Hardy had the distinct pleasure of being a pupil of one of our illustrious founders, “The Dreamer,” Elder Watson Diggs. Hardy remembers founder Diggs as the principal of School No. 42 and in charge of his kindergarten class, which was located across the street from School No. 42. Founder Diggs was a disciplinarian, said Hardy, who recalls that founder Diggs had the school secretary play symphonic music every morning before the Pledge of Allegiance — a genre of music that Hardy enjoys to this day. Hardy also fondly recalls founder Diggs standing at the school's front door to welcome students every morning, and the day he and his grandmother attended the ceremony at the Indiana School Board where they voted to have School No.42 renamed in honor of founder Diggs to Elder Watson Diggs School No.42.

Hardy was the first black director of University Relations and Development at UMBC from 19711976. After Hardy pledged in 1976, he recognized the need for a chapter on the campus of UMBC. He encouraged the Past Polemarch of Columbia, MD’s alumni chapter, William A. Ross, to charter a campus chapter. Hardy later wrote a letter to Past Province Polemarch, Dr. James B. Abram, expressing his desire for a chapter to be chartered before the 1976-77 school year. As a result, Grand Chapter executive secretary Earl A. Morris received a letter from Abrams, enclosed with a petition and charter investigation fees for eight petitioners, with Hardy designated as the faculty advisor.

During his adolescent years in Indianapolis, Hardy also had the honor of knowing founder Guy Levis Grant, who, During his adolescent years in Indianapolis, Hardy also had the honor of knowing founder Guy Levis Grant, who, during this time, was selected by the school board to be the dentist of Indianapolis colored schools. Founder Grant’s sister-in-law, Lucille Grant, was also Hardy's fifth-grade teacher at School No.42.

Hardy relocated to Chicago to become the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Council of The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) from 1977-1979 before he could see the fruits of his labor come to fruition; however, he received a letter from the Keeper of Records from the Columbia, MD Alumni Chapter advising him that the official ceremony took place on December 18, 1976, for the undergraduate chapter, currently chartered as Theta Chi. The NAACP played a significant role in the fight for justice for African Americans during Hardy’s tenure with them. It was equivalent to what some believe the Black Lives Matter movement is

today. Hardy said when it was time for the NAACP to make their appeal for monetary donations across the city of Chicago; Kappa Alpha Psi stepped up to the plate to assist and donated $1,105. A check was signed and given to Hardy on behalf of Kappa Alpha Psi. Hardy remembers a photo being taken of the fraternity handing the check over to him. In the picture were Hardy, Past Grand Polemarch Earl B. Dickerson, and Past Grand Polemarch C. Roger Wilson. Hardy described this as his most defining moment with Kappa Alpha Psi. It was a great time to live and a great time to be a Kappa, he said. In 1979, Hardy served as the director of public relations for the sub-committee during the 62nd Grand Chapter meeting in Chicago. He was the chapter’s point of contact for print and electronic media in Chicago and around the nation. He coordinated interviews with speakers including Thomas Bradley, the second African American mayor of the City of Los Angeles. Hardy also had the honor and privilege of meeting the fraternity's remaining founders during the Grand Chapter Meeting in 1979. “My job was to make them all look good," he said. “Kappa Alpha Psi played a major role in many lives inside and outside of this fraternity due to the diverse competencies and skills that Brothers possess. The possession of our skills and journey has meant so much more than you and I could ever imagine. Kappa has lived out most quintessentially, a way in which the founders envisioned 110 years ago. We are men of achievement and have made many contributions to our communities around the world,” Hardy remarked. Hardy said that if he had to write his legacy, it would say, "I'm too old to be young and too young to be old." He considers himself to be in the middle of two great eras of Kappa Alpha Psi.

Hardy jokingly stated that he was “William Crump’s yard boy” in his early years when he attended Central State University where Crump was a professor. Hardy said Crump hired him to perform yard work so he could make some money. “William Crump was a great man,” Hardy said. One tradition Hardy mentioned he would like to see the fraternity return to is mentoring troubled youth in our respective communities. “We hold a great responsibility to give back to our young black males and ensure they see images of positive, successful black men thriving in society,” he said.

Purpose, Perspective, a Polemarch, and the Pandemic Rho Theta Chapter By: DeAndre Howard

Paul W. Robinson III is a current junior and a spring 2020 initiate of the Rho Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. housed at Radford University. As a member who crossed during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, his experiences have been different from his peers who were initiated prior to the spring 2020 semester. The mandated ordinances put in place by local, city and governmental officials have contributed to this variance. Brother Robinson is very involved in the fraternity, currently serving on the Eastern Province Board of Directors as a Region IV Undergraduate Board Member as well as Rho Theta’s chapter polemarch. Brother Robinson is keen on inspiring service in the public's interest as evidenced by his current employment with Goodwill Industries in Christiansburg, Virginia.

The brotherhood is always there but I feel like I could experience a lot more if COVID-19 restrictions were not so limiting.” 3. Name one thing that the pandemic has taught you to do differently as it relates to involvement with Kappa Alpha Psi? “One thing that the pandemic has taught me relating to Kappa Alpha Psi is that you can only focus on what you can control. My chapter ran into some major obstacles during to the pandemic and we are slowly but surely headed back into the right direction. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I learned that we have to focus on what we can control, be patient, and let things come to us.” Brother Robinson, who just celebrated his 21st birthday on August 18th, is definitely a brother on the move! We look forward to seeing this brother's Kappa journey on the other side of the pandemic.

I asked Brother Robinson the following questions. See his responses below. 1. How has the current global pandemic affected you personally? “The pandemic affected me personally because I have had to change the way I live, and it has forced me to adapt to certain situations. I am getting used to being in uncomfortable situations.” 2. How has the current global pandemic affected your involvement in Kappa Alpha Psi on the chapter, province and Grand Chapter levels? “It affected my involvement with Kappa because I have not had a chance to meet brothers from all over. I see them virtually and talk to them virtually but

Brothers, to begin the Khronicle, has continued to achieve during these odd and difficult times. Unfortunate circumstances such as COVID-19, injustice and impoverishment continue to plague our communities. Even through such troubling times, the Brothers of A/F have found ways to continue our excellent influence in the community.As evidence, our chapter has received the 96th Eastern Province Large Chapter of the Year Award. As the fraternity motto declares, "Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor" and that is what the brothers of the Alexandria-Fairfax Alumni (AFA) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated live by. Our chapter also tirelessly aims to help out within our community. In addition, the A/F chapter also won the following awards at the 2021 Province Council: Crosby Award: Alexandria-Fairfax (Silver) Guide Right Bert V. Watkins Award: Herb Marshall (Silver) Guide Right Mentor Award: Will McLeod Guide Right Leon Steward Award: Miles Powell -AF Guide Right Guide Right High School Student of the Year Award: Zion Nuby - A/F Over the past year, the brothers of A/F were active and creative in achieving their yearly goals and obligations. Whether a social action or social function, the brothers of A/F continued to show support and provide positivity in an effective and entertaining manner. To highlight a few key functions over the previous year: Spring 2020 Initiation Kamp Kappa 2020 Beautillion Social Movements: BLM and Go Vote Re-election of Eastern Senior Province Vice Polemarch - Richard Mattox Hosting various virtual chapter meetings. As stated earlier, we have noted a few of A/F's events over the past year and continue to achieve at excelling levels. Keep progressing Nupes, thank you for you past and future efforts!

Community Service Support for Togo Kids

Gaithersburg/Rockville (MD) Alumni Chapter By: Pedro Arguello On May 8, 2021, the brothers of the Gaithersburg/Rockville (MD) Alumni Chapter (G-Rock) of the Eastern Province gathered to present Togo’s Kids Hope, 119 bicycles to be sent to Togo, Africa. Togo Kids Hope is an organization founded by Togolese living in the United States with the main goal of providing hope to young kids in Togo through various activities they plan throughout the year. One of these initiatives is to provide bicycles to kids who walk five or more miles to school everyday. Togo Kids Hope accepts used bikes and refurbishes them to present to students. For smaller bikes, they give them to preschool children in orphanages in Togo. The need for bicycles is not only important as it allows the kids to more easily get to school but it is also a safety issue especially for young girls. Several girls have been attacked late at night while returning home from school. As such, girls are given priority when the bikes are distributed. The brothers of Gaithersburg/Rockville (MD) Alumni got involved through the initiative of Brother Berkley Davenport, who previously donated his son Chris’ bicycle. After his contribution, Brother Davenport received a picture of the child who received his son’s bike which not only confirmed the purpose of the contribution but also the need. At the April chapter meeting he made a proposal that the chapter support this initiative and it was unanimously accepted. Soon after, using social media and the personal contacts of brothers, an effort that hoped to garner 50 bikes became a donation of 119 in less than a month.This donation become the largest donation Togo Kids Hope has ever received. In addition, the Brothers were also able to assist with collecting donations to help defray the costs of shipping the bikes to Togo further adding to our support of the organization. The brothers of G-Rock were elated to assist Togo Kids Hope with their efforts to ensure children can safely have assess to education and look forward to a continued partnership where we can get other chapters of the Eastern Province as well as other organizations to support this worth effort. The brothers of G-Rock would also like to thank Brother Davenport for bringing this project to the chapter but also for his herculean effort in collecting the bicycles for donation.

The Dream of Homeownership Webinar Upper Marlboro/ Waldorf (MD) Alumni Chapter By: Marcus Smith

On May 1, 2021, The Brothers of the Upper Marlboro/ Waldorf Alumni Chapter hosted their inaugural First time Home Buyer Webinar “The Dream of Homeownership”. The Webinar was a resounding success; there were 40 members of the community that attended the webinar. The webinar covered an array of subjects: how to find financing to purchase a home, how to become and keep your creditworthiness on your journey to homeownership. The webinar host articulated the many challenges to homeownership, but he was able to give the participants a plausible roadmap to a successful closing on a new home. There was positive feedback about the homeownership webinar and community members are looking toward the chapter’s next financial webinar on Estate Planning. The webinar coordinator, Brother Kenyatta Kerr would like to thank the participants and the members of the webinar committee: Brothers Johnny Garnett, Russell Sanders, Carl Cameron, Ken Phillips, and Marcelino Lake.

Community Outreach Fish Fry Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter By: Ronald Stokes

On Saturday, July 10, 2021, the Brothers of the Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter held their first annual Fish Fry at the Elks Club at 2 Pythian Drive in Edgewater, Maryland. Due to the restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the fish fry was facilitated via a drivethru and pick-up method. To protect all concerned, guests purchased their dinners or sandwiches in advance via Eventbrite, picked them up, and drove home to enjoy their delicious fish. The chapter would like to give kudos to Brother Alan Griffin for orchestrating this event. All proceeds from the event will go to help fund the Community Outreach activities of the Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter. We are hoping to hold this event on an in-person basis in the future.

AF Aviation Program Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Tré Wilder

The Summer Aviation Camp was a follow-up to the groundbreaking event held on June 5th, where the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. teamed with the Northern Virginia Urban League, the Virginia Aviation Board, Booz-Allen-Hamilton and the Alexandria-Fairfax Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund (KSEF), Inc. at the Stafford Regional Aviation Airport to give aviation orientation flights to youth as a culmination of AFAC Spring Youth Aviation program. The A/F Kappa Aviation program consisted of 10 weeks of interactive classroom sessions covering aerodynamics, aircraft operations and instrumentation, basic aviation meteorology, national airspace rules, and flight physiology. The goal of the program was to stimulate the youth in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through “Applied Academics” to solve real world aviation problems as well as raise awareness in area of aviation. The highlight of the program was the orientation flights for eight youth taking their first flight in a Cessna 172 aircraft with certified instructors as a part of Stafford regional airport’s Aviation Adventures program. Each student received a one hour flight. During which, half of the flight was spent at the controls flying under the supervision of a certified flight instructor and the other half was spent as a passenger in the back seat observing another student at the controls The A/F Kappa Aviation Clinic was an outstanding program that was made possible because of our wonderful A/F Multi-Purpose facility and Brothers who dedicate themselves for altruistic purposes. Without the A/F Multi-Purpose facility, the aviation program, the Lego Robotics Program, the fellowship that we are able to have that keeps us all working to benefit our community do not happen at the same level we do. A big "YO!" to Brother Kendall Wall the brothers who are contributing to help secure the facility for AFKSEF as an owned asset so we can in fact "Do It Again and Again and Again!"

Guide Right Sexual Health for Teens Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter By: Ronald Stokes

The Brothers of the Annapolis (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., in partnership with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health, completed a Sexual Health for Teens program with its Guide Right/Kappa Leaguers during the months of May and June. The program consisted of 12modules focused on the reproductive anatomy, peer pressure, risk of unprotected sex, and benefits of abstinence. The young men received certificates of completion from the Department of Health, a sponsored lunch, and gift cards for their participation. In addition, they received a breadth of knowledge and to help them reduce the risk of pregnancy, HIV, and other STDs.

Guide Right, Done Right! Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Marvin Martin

The Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Chapter participated in several Guide Right initiatives during the summer. We wanted to share a few of those initiatives below:

Donation to Danville Public School System: It was truly an honor and a privilege to partner with ToteBoys Bin Store and help out the youth in Danville Public Schools by donating a pallet of notebooks, folders, and school supplies to be distributed to youth in need. ToteBoys Bin Store is a community player and the Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi is grateful for the partnership.

Engaging Youth in Community Service: The Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi partnered with Shining Diamonds Youth Services to assist the Sophisticated Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. with their annual cleaning community service project. The young gentlemen displayed extravagant manners and hard work. According to Polemarch Martin, "The journey of 1000 miles of mentorship begins with a single step.

College Tour: The Danville Alumni Kappa League has one goal with our participants and that's to inspire them to become greater men. The chapter took a trip to North Carolina A & T State University for a college tour. This was a huge undertaking for the chapter and did not happen alone. As such, the chapter would like to thank all of the sponsors and partners who helped to make the trip a success. The partners are as follows: Shining Diamonds Mentoring Services, Pathfinders Resources, Danville (VA) Alumni Kappa League, ToteBoys Bin Store, WW Luxury Limousine Service, and Galactic Apparel! This guide right initiative was a true representation of the concept "it takes a village to raise our youth." The chapter plans to make this an annual event.

2021 Guide Right Awards Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Tré Wilder

The A/F Guide Right encompasses many of our youth-oriented programs such as, but not limited to, the aviation program, AF NSBE Jr Chapter, Kappa League and Lego Robotics. Guide Right is a program of the educational and occupational guidance of youth, primarily inspirational and informative in character. The purposes of the Guide Right Service Program are to place the training experience and friendly interest of successful men at the disposal of youth needing inspiration and counsel regarding their choice of a life’s career, and to elevate the interest of the entire community in the problems of youth as they seek to realize lives of usefulness. Thank you to all the brothers who helped participate and assist in the A/F Guide Right program achieve the level of success it has over the past few years. It truly does mean a lot when we hold true to our word of in assisting the youth becoming young men.

Miltary Service Chapter Board Member Wins Donald G. Murphy Military Achievement Award Woodbridge (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Dakhalfani Boyd

Brother Michael A. Sherman, Colonel, US Army Reserve, won the prestigious Donald G. Murphy Military Achievement Award. Brother Sherman is a Spring 1988 initiate of the Killeen-Fort Hood (TX) Alumni Chapter, and a life member of our beloved fraternity. He currently serves as a board member of the Woodbridge (VA) Alumni Chapter and is very active in the Woodbridge community. Brother Sherman is no stranger to achievement, in that, he dutifully served 25 months as the commander of the 411th Engineer Brigade; the first African American to lead this organization. Due to his strategic foresight, and operational acumen, he now serves as the principal operations officer with strategic oversight of over 2,500 Soldiers across the United States with regards to planning, preparation, execution, and assessment of training. In his civilian capacity, Brother Sherman is the Director of Policy and Research at the National Capital Planning Commission. In this role, Brother Sherman is the senior planner serving as a high-level contact and coordinator between the Commission, the legislative and executive branches of government, Heads of independent agencies and offices, the White House, and appointed elected officials of State and local governments in the National Capital Region. Marching through the Pandemic Nu Lambda Chapter By: Tyler Jones

As this year's 85th Grand Chapter Meeting convened, the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. named Brother Joshua B. Jones as the recipient of the General Daniel “Chappie” James, Jr. Memorial Award for Military Cadet Achievement. Additionally, at the 96th Eastern Province Council, during the 2020-2021 academic school year, Brother Joshua B. Jones was also named the recipient of the Donald G. Murphy Memorial Undergraduate Military Achievement Award. We are very proud of our (ΝΛ) Chapter Polemarch as he keeps achieving and holding the diamond high. We are excited to see all of the new ideas that he will bring forth in his second consecutive term of serving as the Eastern Province Junior Vice Polemarch for the 2021-22 fraternal year.

Chapter Events Alexandria-Fairfax Activities Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Tré Wilder 45th Chartering Day On March 6, 1976, National Headquarter Executive Secretary, Brother Earl A. Morris, approved the petition for charter. Brother Roosevelt D. Phillips requested the petition for charter. On June 5th, 1976, a charter was conferred on the newly established Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. The charter was presented to the chapter by Dr. James B. Abrams, Jr., Eastern Province Polemarch, before a large audience in the International Room of the Bolling AFB, DC Officer’s Club. The chapter’s first Polemarch was Brother Roosevelt Phillips, a graduate of Virginia State College. A/F is the first alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi to be chartered in Northern Virginia. The purpose of the chapter is “To be meaningfully involved in the Kappa “fertile” Northern Virginia area and fraternity activities.”

We appreciate Brother Bobby Mills, our incumbent Chairman, as he led the initiative to continue our 45 years of

success, mentorship, and brotherhood here at AF. From old to new lines, continuing what our founding fathers brought to us is monumental. We say thank you to the bond for this wonderful day. YO! Juneteenth On June 19, 2021, the AlexandriaFairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter Young Brother Committee (YBC) hosted a Juneteenth Cookout to celebrate the first annual Juneteenth federal holiday at the multipurpose facility. The committee sold over 300 tickets for this event and over 150 people attended the function. The brothers and their guests had an amazing time at the event and the committee raised over $8,000 for the chapter. Luxury Watch Raffle The AlexandriaFairfax Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund (KSEF) prepared to award its 2021 scholars in our watch raffle for charity! The chapter appreciated all donations given to such a good and noble cause with a chance to win a Nomos Glashuette watch. Brother Cannon presented Brother Jenkins with a token of appreciation for being the keynote speaker during our Charter Day program held in April 2021. Maryland State Delegate, Brother Ron Watson, Ph.D., presented our Eastern Province Region II Board of Directors member, Brother Phil Deboe, with a citation from the Maryland general assembly expressing leadership, character, and pursuit of Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor while holding the office of Chapter Polemarch during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Annual Tennis Tournament On August 21, 2021, the Brothers of the Fort Washington (MD) Alumni (FWA) Chapter held their annual planning retreat at the Hilton Garden Inn Waldorf, located in Waldorf, MD. This year's retreat was unique in that it was conducted in a hybrid format. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, brothers were able to attend in person and virtually. The 29th Eastern Province Polemarch, Brother Charles Exum, conducted the swearing-in ceremony of the chapter’s leadership team for the 2021 – 2022 fraternal year. Fort Washington (MD) Alumni Chapter Polemarch, Brother Rodney Cannon, presented Brother Exum with a token of appreciation on behalf of the chapter. Senior Province Vice Polemarch, Brother Richard Mattox, expressed his optimism for a productive upcoming fraternal year and looks forward to a continued partnership with

Roanoke (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Emmanuel Arnold

On August 21-22nd, 2021, the Roanoke (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. partnered with the Gamma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. to host their annual Samuel “Bo” Terry Tennis Tournament at Eureka Park in Roanoke, Virginia. The tournament featured singles and doubles competitions. Jerome Hamm won the singles championship while Pink Wimbish, III was the runner-up. For the doubles competition, Jerome Hamm and David Dickey won the championship while Eddie Blair and Pink Wimbish, III were runners-up. Proceeds benefit college scholarship funds for each fraternity. Brother Pink Wimbish, III chaired the event.

Chapter Invisible John T. Lanier, 23rd Eastern Province Polemarch, Enters Chapter Invisible Richmond (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Marshall D. Banks, II

It is with extreme sadness that we announce that our dear brother, leader, mentor and friend, Brother John T. Lanier, Sr. (Alpha Gamma ’74), passed into Chapter Invisible on Monday January 18, 2021. Brother Lanier served as the 23rd Eastern Province Polemarch (2007-2010), Eastern Province Senior Province Polemarch (2003-2007), Eastern Province Keeper of Exchequer (2001-2003), Eastern Province Board of Directors, Region III (1997-2000), 19th Polemarch of the Richmond (VA) Alumni Chapter (E), and several other roles of distinguished leadership within Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Brother Lanier was also one of the charter members of the Virginia Commonwealth University Chapter, the Eta Xi (E) of Kappa Alpha Psi (October 19, 1974), the “Nine Midnight Wanderers”. In 2000, he was the recipient of the “Pillar of the Province”, the highest award bestowed by the Eastern Province, recognizing honorable service and achievement.

Reverend Brother Sidney W. Williams, Jr. Enters Chapter Invisible Hampton-Newport News (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Arthur Price

Reverend Brother Sidney W. Williams, Jr. was borne away on Tuesday morning, July 27 in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-one to the Chapter Invisible. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. for 72 years; having been duly initiated into the North Carolina Central University Chapter, the Alpha Kappa of Kappa Alpha Psi on December 20, 1948. Additionally, he was a charter member of the Shaw University Chapter, the Delta Gamma of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Brother Williams was a member in good standing with the Hampton-Newport News (VA) Alumni Chapter for over 40 years, where he perpetually served as a moral and spiritual compass for its membership. He gave generously of his time, talent, and treasure to benefit the Chapter’s Guide Right and Senior Kappa initiatives.

Brother Williams was a very experienced pastor who began his ministry at the Virginia AME Conference in 1955. His successful pastoral ministry included Allen Chapel AME Church, Staunton, and the Smithfield Circuit which included Ebenezer, Browns, and Union Bethel AME Churches in Smithfield, Virginia. In 1966, he was appointed to serve as Pastor of St. Paul AME Church, Newport News where he succeeded his father, the Reverend S. W. Williams, Sr. Following a successful and productive 31-year tenure, in 1967 Reverend Brother Williams was appointed to serve as Presiding Elder of the Portsmouth Richmond Roanoke District of the A.M.E Church. He presided over the district with distinction until his retirement. In addition to the Hampton-Newport News (VA) Alumni Chapter membership, Reverend Brother Williams leaves to mourn his transition, his loving wife, Silhouette Helen G. Williams, his son, Brother S. Wesley Williams, III, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren, and extended family members and close friends.

On August 12, 2021, the Brothers of Charlottesville (VA) Alumni Chapter held a reception for the 31st Grand Polemarch and most recently conferred 76th Laurel Wreath Laureate, Dwayne M. Murray, Esq. The reception was held at the headquarters of Millenium Security and Transportation Company owned by Brother Rovelle Brown in Charlottesville, VA. Past Grand Polemarch Murray was in town with his Silhouette, Lisa Murray, Esq., to visit their daughter, Dr. Bria Murray, who is in residency at the University of Virginia Medical Center. A great time of fellowship was had by all the Brothers in attendance. Past Grand Polemarch Murray received greetings from the 29th Eastern Province Polemarch Charles Exum, Eastern Province Senior Vice Polemarch Richard Mattox, and Charlottesville (VA) Alumni Chapter Polemarch Lewis Johnson. Past Grand Polemarch Murray gave remarks and specifically thanked Polemarch Johnson for his assistance in recommending a townhome for his daughter Bria and finding her a painter to do the interior. Brothers in attendance introduced themselves and shared their Kappa stories. Gifts were given to the 31st Grand Polemarch on behalf of the Eastern Province and Charlottesville (VA) Alumni Chapter. Past Grand Polemarch Murray shared how much he enjoyed the evening with the Brothers and how special they made him feel.

Brother Ollie Brown and Silhouette Catherine Brown Celebrate their 67th Wedding Anniversary For Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter By: Darrick Brown

On 14 August 2021, Brother Ollie Brown and his Silhouette Catherine Brown celebrated 67 years of Marital Bliss. Brother Ollie Brown is a Virginia State University, 1950 initiate of the Alpha Phi Chapter, Eastern Province, of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. Brother Ollie Brown is a Charter Member of our Fort Lee (VA) Alumni Chapter (FLAC) that remains engaged as a sincere mentor and consistently financial at all three levels of our Fraternity. Our FLAC Polemarch Brother Cortez Frazier, along with our Senior Kappa Committee, under current COVID

conditions determined a viable chapter anniversary recognition for this couple’s commitment and devotion to their union. The decision was made to conduct a drive-by celebration. At 10:00 a.m. on 14 August, several members of our chapter met at Brother Ollie Brown’s home in South Chesterfield where we parked vehicles on the street and gathered on his lawn to commemorate this inspiring wedding anniversary. FLAC leadership coordinated with Brother Keith Brown (his son) a Virginia Commonwealth University 1978 initiate of the Eta Xi Chapter who escorted Brother Ollie Brown and his Silhouette Catherine Brown onto their front porch, at which time our Polemarch preceded to provide laudatory comments in recognition of their wedding anniversary. As our Polemarch provided comments, Brother Ollie Brown was presented with a card, and his Silhouette Catherine Brown was presented with a bouquet consisting of two dozen red and white roses. Our Polemarch then opened the floor for comments from our assembled chapter membership. Several brothers weighed in with comments that centered around respect, admiration, consistency, love, and setting the example for all to follow. At the conclusion of comments from the assembled chapter membership, Brother Ollie Brown provided his response on behalf of his family. During the delivery of his remarks, Brother Ollie Brown overcome with emotion as tears overflowed from his eyes, expressed his appreciation for brothers taking time out of their schedules to recognize him and his silhouette’s marriage anniversary. Brother Ollie Brown and his Silhouette Catherine Brown have blessed Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated with three generations of Kappa Men: Brother Ollie Brown, his son Brother Keith Brown, his two grandsons, Brother Keith Brown Jr. 2002 initiate and Brother Derek Brown 2010 initiate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Eta Xi Chapter, Eastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. The legacy that Brother Ollie Brown and his Silhouette Catherine Brown have lived as a family is an inspiration to our Chapter, our Eastern Province, and our Fraternity. Their sixty-seven-year relationship continues to nurture additional generations of their lineage. Their family has recently welcomed their sixth great-grandchild a baby boy recognizing that our current COVID pandemic will not hinder the growth and presence of their family name. Dr. Kenneth Taylor"As the Polemarch, I strive to always operate in the spirit of excellence. My goal is to be an efficient leader, show accountability in my actions, represent a social awareness, and effectively lead our great chapter. It is my plan to perform the following: operationalize AF processes and programs, increase AF's footprint in the local community "tell our story", strengthen relationships with community organizations and leaders, succession planning, support KSEF and sustainability for the AF facility, continue fiscal responsibility of A/F and BROTHERHOOD!"

Walter Smiley - "As the 1st Vice Polemarch, I plan to support the vision and goals of the Polemarch, adhere and enforce duties of 1st Vice as per the bylaws, continue to show programs effectiveness through data collection improvements, expand Province and Grand Chapters visibility and improve the community and media awareness of A/F programs."

Marco Jacobs - "As the 2nd Vice Polemarch, I plan to revamp how the "Ways and Means" committee operates. The "Ways and Means" committee should be utilized as the chapter's vetting mechanism for revenue generating events. The process would entail thoroughly analyzing proposed events and comparing the results against qualifying criteria, defined by the committee. Approved events will receive a solid marketing strategy, periodic performance metrics, and advice on areas that can be improved based on metrics. I believe this will reduce the chapters risk and increase the number of profitable events hosted by the chapter."

Riley Jacobs - "As the Keeper of Records I aim to produce a physical achievement and historical story of A/F from the beginning of 2021. I plan to continue to direct an exceptional A/F Golden Heritage/Senior Kappa program."

Donald "Rico" Harrington - "As a returning board member, I plan to continue to support the new administration and provide a comprehensive understanding and approach to promoting sound leadership, recommendations and decisions that are in the best interests of the brotherhood and longterm success of the Chapter. All while adhering to the aims and purposes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc."

Neicko Williams - "As a returning board member, I plan to continue to support the new administration and provide steadfast analytical, honest assessments and council to the leadership team and members of this fraternity. I also look forward to continuing to grow AlexandriaFairfax's one of a kind aviation program for youth in the DMV."

Vincent Wilson "In 2020, after living abroad diplomatically for a decade, I made a personal decision to re-dedicate myself to Kappa Alpha Psi. So, when a board position became vacant last year in AF, I saw it as an opportunity to jump back in with both feet. I stepped up, was elected, and here I am. Being a board member is about solving problems and being focused on what’s in the best interest of our chapter. In this role, I will apply the three things Thomas A. Edison deemed as essential in “achieving” anything worthwhile: hard work, stick-to-itiveness, and common sense."

Thomas Wiley "As Assistant Keeper of Exchequer it is important for me to serve the chapter, I was initiated in to help propel the chapter forward. I have learned a lot by being a member of this grand fraternity. My goal is to help the current administration think outside the box, challenge the status quo and continue to ensure Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni chapter remains a top chapter in the fraternity."

Biniam Idriss - "As Assistant Keeper of Records, my aim is to improve the automated Keeper of Records database by working along the automation team to establish a more efficient database for chapter leadership to access. Additionally, improve on capturing chapter accomplishments i.e., Guide Right." Jeremy George - "As a board member, my aim is to serve as a trusted fiduciary who can steer the Chapter towards a sustainable future. I also plan to improve upon the adoption of sound and ethical governance and financial management policies, including establishing and monitoring KPIs. In addition, I aim to ensure the Chapter has adequate resources to operate, advance, and innovate for years to come." Roderick Casey - "As Keeper of Exchequer, I plan to continue providing and updating the chapter with the stability of the chapter by presenting adequate financials at chapter meetings, as well as ensuring all funds of the chapter are properly recorded and disbursed accordingly."

Tré Wilder - "As the current reporter, it is my job to ensure I shine additional light on the admirable and extraordinary activities we host and participate within our community. The brothers of A/F work hard, thus it is important to show their tenacity and fortitude. I plan to create an efficient system for future reporters based on lessons learned, as well as, increase relations with other media outlets."

Ryan Swanier - "I am the current strategus of the Alexandria-Fairfax (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. The Strategus position is extremely important to the safety and security at every level of Kappa; National, Provincial, and Chapter. The Strategus is the first line of defense at chapter meetings to ensure each person in the room is a member and sometimes a member in good standing of kappa alpha psi. It is also the responsibility of the Strategus to ensure all kappa material is returned and kept safe after chapter meetings. The Strategus position is extremely integral to the safekeeping of the ideals and practices of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc."

Michael Wilson - "As Lt. Strategus I look to learn about my role for the chapter being a new member of this fraternity. I will be a brother that is heavily relied on to get stuff done and with Ryan Swanier as strategus he will continue to help prepare me for this position as his second in command."

Immediate Past Chapter Polemarch of Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter Opens "Tote Boys Bin Store" in Danville Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter By: DeAndre Howard

Marvin L. Martin, Jr., 13th Polemarch of the Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, opened a wholesale and liquidation bin store in Danville back in March. The store, Tote Boys, is definitely the only one of its kind in the community and has attracted customers from all over. I asked Brother Martin a simple question: "What are ToteBoys?" His reply was simply, "ToteBoys are any gender, any race, or any ethnicity that works hard, shows loyalty, strives for excellence, and gives back to their community." ToteBoys has donated to several organizations in the Danville community to include the homeless shelter in Danville. "Brother Martin shared the following quote with his customers: "If you are going to spend money spend it with

businesses that give back to the community." The mission of ToteBoys epitomizes Brother Martin's true desire to inspire service in the public interest. Please join the brothers of the Danville (VA) Alumni Chapter in congratulating Brother Martin on such a remarkable achievement.

Business Session I 1. the 34th Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, Reuben A. Shelton, III, Esq. 2. The first business session began with a virtual roll call of delegates at 8:30am. Credentials Report given by Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer: There were 1,020 delegates were in attendance. 3. Grand Polemarch Shelton went over the rules of the Grand Chapter Meeting. 4. Executive Director, John Burrell gave a through overview of happenings at our International Headquarters Office. This update included staffing updates, infrastructure updates and special projects. 5. Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer, Rhen Bass, gave an extensive financial report. $3,000,000 (3 million) is the new update of funds stolen from former Director of Finance, Curtis Anderson. Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer Bass also shared that the fraternity is currently not in any debt and that we are operating well within our budget Overall, Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer provided that the fraternity is in overall good financial shape. 6. 9. Grand Polemarch Shelton facilitated a virtual Q & A for brothers to express questions about the Exchequer report, the IHQ report and the State of the Fraternity. Brothers were given the opportunity to ask questions. 10. Grand Polemarch Shelton announced that the meeting will go into recess at 11:55pm and we will rejoin at 2:00pm, Eastern Standard Time. Eastern Province Caucus #1 1. The first Eastern Province Caucus was held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 4:00pm. 2. Richard Mattox, Eastern Province Senior Province Vice Polemarch, presided over the caucus. 3. Brother Charles Exum, III, 29th Eastern Province Polemarch, took attendance, thus verifying all delegates were present. 4. Three candidates came out of the Achievement Commission for the Laurel Wreath Award. Brother Amos L. Otis (E) and Brother Gregory Jackson(N) came to the province caucus to introduce themselves and to speak with the province delegates. Brothers got to ask questions to each of the candidates. Each candidate needed 75% of the voting delegates to be conferred the as a Laurel Wreath recipient. 5. Announcements and remarks were made by various brothers. 6. The caucus adjourned at 6:00pm promptly so brothers could have time to get to the Public Meeting and Awards Ceremony.

Business Session II 1. The Second General Business Session was held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 2:00pm and presided over by the Senior Grand Vice Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, Linnes Finney. 2. Constitution and Statutes Report was given by Grand Board Member and Constitution & Statutes Committee Chairman, Clifford Franklin a. Splitting the Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer roles i. There was some discussion regarding when this would actually take place b. Online (virtual) Grand Chapter Meeting attendance c. Eliminate proxy voting d. Province changes e. Financial and operational accountability changes f. Establishing of a Military and Veteran Affairs Commission as a permanent commission 3. The Nominating Committee Report was given by the Grand Chapter Nominating Committee Chairman, Chauncey Haynes. The only contesting positions were the Alumni Grand Board of Directors position and the Undergraduate Board of Directors position. The results of the contesting positions of the nominating committee are as follows:

4. All contesting positions running for grand chapter office were allowed a two-minute speech and seconding speech. 5. The meeting was called to recess at 4:00pm. Eastern Province Caucus #2 1. The second Eastern Province Caucus was held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 5:00pm. 2. Charles Exum, 29th Eastern Province Polemarch and Richard Mattox, Eastern Province Senior Province Vice Polemarch, presided over the caucus. 3. Cleve Ewell, Eastern Province Keeper of the Records conducted the roll call. 4. The following candidates running for Grand Chapter Office stopped into the province caucus to introduce themselves and speak with the delegates: Rob Jenkins, Rhen Bass, Lazarius Alexander, Khalis Hicks, Clifford Franklin and Jwyanza Watt. Brothers got to ask questions to each of the candidates. 5. Announcements and remarks were made by various brothers. 6. Brother Nathan Fletcher, Past Province Board Member, from Baltimore Alumni shared that the chapter would be celebrating their centennial in September as the 8th Alumni Chapter in the fraternity to reach such a status. They will be having a series of events to celebrate such a milestone. 7. The caucus adjourned at 6:40pm promptly so brothers could have time to get to the Foundation Banquet.

Business Session III 1. The third General Business Session was held on Friday morning, July 16, 2021. There were some technical difficulties and Brother Dubose has an emergency, so the Foundation report was moved to the 4th business session. 2. The 34th Grand Polemarch shared that there were some issues with brothers not knowing which articles were which on the voting ballot regarding the constitution and statutes changes. He shared that this will be corrected moving forward. 3. The meeting was called to recess until Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9:30am.

Business Session IV 1. The fourth General Business Session was held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9:30am and presided over by Junior Grand Vice Polemarch, Evan Jackson. 2. A report on the National Kappa Foundation was given by Michael Dubose, President of the National Kappa Foundation. 3. Samuel C. Hamilton, 30th Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, installed the newly elected grand chapter officers. In reference to the constitutional changes, there were 6 major proposed constitutional changes at the 85th Grand Chapter Meeting: 1. Article IV: Splitting the Grand Keeper of Records and Exchequer role into two separate positions, DID NOT PASS (fully) a. The concept of the separation of the Grand Keeper of Records and the Grand Keeper of Exchequer passed but some provisions did not. Grand Polemarch Shelton provided that a bulletin will come out to explain the details. 2. Article IV: Online (virtual) Grand Chapter Meeting attendance, PASSED 3. Article VII: Eliminating proxy voting, DID NOT PASS 4. Article VII: Province changes, PASSED 5. Article III: Financial and operational accountability changes, PASSED 6. The establishment of the Military and Veteran Affairs Commission as a permanent commission, PASSED 7. Code of Conduct revisions, PASSED 1. The Grand Polemarch provided remarks. He shared that 5 new province polemarch were being appointed in the following provinces beginning August 1: Eastern Central Province, Southeastern Province, Southwestern Province, Southern Province, and the Northern Province He also shared that Brother Clarence Tucker from the Eastern Province has been appointed at the Assistant Editor to the Journal of Kappa Alpha Psi 2. Brothers were reminded to attend the 86th Grand Chapter Meeting from July 18 – 23, 2023 in Tampa, Florida. 3. The benediction was provided by National Chaplain, William Meanes.
