ABOUT PROVIDENCE (1925-2026) Founded in 1925, Providence University College & Theological Seminary is an ecumenically faith-based academic institution that has served the province of Manitoba at its main Otterburne campus since 1970, and from its downtown Winnipeg extension since 2023. From its humble beginnings as Winnipeg Bible Training School, over the past century Providence has significantly expanded its operations, curricula and reach – offering a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees. Guided by its primary aim to inspire growth in knowledge and character for leadership and service, Providence centres Christian principles, encourages diversity of thought, supports one another in community, facilitates exploration, and pursues academic excellence. To this end, with a three-fold focus on teaching, research and service, our faculty come from a diversity of backgrounds, bringing with them distinct perspectives and innovative ideas to the programs that they develop and direct. Providence is privileged to provide both domestic and international students with a fully accredited educational experience that opens doors for a range of careers and post-graduate study opportunities, and we congratulate all graduates for their hard work, determination, and accomplishments.

TO OUR GRADUATES, On behalf of the Board of Governors, the President Dr. Kenton Anderson, and the Faculty and Staff at Providence University College and Theological Seminary, I would like to congratulate you on your graduation day! While I no longer consider myself of “student” age, I still consider myself a student. While I have a doctoral degree, I know that I still have a lot to learn. I’ve presented academic papers at conferences to welcoming audiences of scholars, but I know that I still need to take the time to listen to others. I’ve written book-length manuscripts, but I know that I still need to read others’ insights. While I want to congratulate you on achieving the major milestone of graduation and receiving a Providence degree, diploma or certificate, I also know that this is just the beginning of a lifetime of learning. In my classes, I often end the final lecture by telling the students that they are more powerful than they were at the start of the course. The source of this newly found power is the knowledge that they’ve gained throughout the course, not only from the professor but also from each other. Knowledge is power! But, of course, my classes are not the end of learning! I pray that your Providence education – that you’ve worked so hard to achieve – will guide you as you lead and serve with knowledge and character. I trust that you have received the skills and knowledge – as well as patience and Christian character – to help you navigate what can be a difficult and trying world. And I pray that Providence has

prepared the “soil” of your life for future learning so that you can continue to lead and serve in ways that you can’t imagine! One last piece of advice: you might not know exactly what tomorrow holds for you. In fact, none of us know what might come tomorrow. Archana Dogra: I am originally from Hoshiarpur, a city in the state of Punjab, India – a place known for its rich culture, warm community values, and strong traditions that have shaped who I am today. My academic journey began with a master’s degree in computer applications. After completing my studies, I worked in the technology and analytics industry for several years, starting as a Data Analyst at eClerx and later as an IT Support professional at Tech Mahindra, where I was promoted to a Subject Matter Expert (SME) role. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in data analysis, technical problem-solving, and supporting business operations across diverse teams. While thriving in these roles, I recognized that to grow into a leadership position, I needed to deepen my understanding of management, organizational behaviour, and leadership practices. This motivated me to pursue further education and led me to Providence University College & Theological Seminary in Canada – a decision that became one of the most meaningful of my life. At Providence, I underwent a profound transformation – not just as a student, but as a professional. Coming from a technical background in data analysis and IT support, I had always measured success through problemsolving and execution. Providence challenged me to think differently – to see leadership not as a position, but as a responsibility. Through my coursework and interactions with peers from around the world, I began to develop the

strategic mindset, emotional intelligence, and people skills that distinguish a manager from a leader. This shift in perspective is perhaps the most valuable thing I am taking with me as I step into the next chapter of my career. Two courses left a lasting impression on me. Managing Organizational Behaviour, taught by Professor Nicole Barnabé, created a welcoming and confident learning environment, especially for international students like me. Managing Organizational Change, taught by Professor Eddie Rocha, also stood out for his engaging, discussion-driven teaching style that made every lecture both interactive and insightful. One of my favourite memories at Providence was an early group assignment where we had to design a paper airplane capable of carrying a dollar coin. The creativity, experimentation, and laughter that went into building our prototypes made it an unforgettable experience. Beyond academics, sharing lunches with classmates on campus helped to build friendships and memories that I will always treasure. My time at Providence has strengthened my management and leadership capabilities in ways I could not have anticipated. Going forward, I aspire to take on a leadership role in the technology sector, where I can bridge my technical expertise with the management skills I have developed here, contributing meaningfully to the organizations and communities I become part of.

Himani: I am a dedicated and motivated student who values both academic achievement and personal growth. Graduating with a GPA of 3.97 out of 4 reflects my commitment, discipline, and perseverance throughout my college journey. As an international student, adapting to a new environment came with its challenges. Being far from home, I experienced moments of homesickness and uncertainty. However, these experiences helped me grow stronger, more independent, and resilient. Over time, my college became a second home, supported by meaningful friendships and a welcoming academic community. Balancing work alongside my studies was another significant part of my journey. Managing these responsibilities taught me important skills such as time management, organization, and maintaining focus under pressure. I am especially grateful to my professors for their continuous support, for providing helpful learning resources, and for always being available to guide me and clarify my doubts. My greatest inspiration has always been my family. My father’s hardworking nature and ability to learn through observation have motivated me to stay consistent and determined. My mother’s constant encouragement and belief in me have given me the confidence to pursue my goals and overcome challenges. Harkamaldeep Kaur: Growing up in Punjab, India in a Sikh family, I was deeply influenced by my grandfather, whose modern thinking and constant encouragement shaped my outlook on life. His belief in education and self-growth inspired me to step beyond my comfort zone and pursue new opportunities. I am a graduate of the 9th cohort in Business Administration program at Providence University College. During my time at Prov, I discovered both my academic interests and my voice. I developed a strong passion for Financial Accounting and Statistical Analysis, along with an appreciation for the Fundamentals of Marketing. These subjects not only strengthened my analytical thinking but also helped me understand the practical side of business. My journey was shaped by incredible mentors and experiences. Prof. Charles, whose engaging teaching style left a lasting impression, encouraged me to think critically and to aim higher. Through Prof. Joshua’s guidance, I found my confidence in debating and learned how to express my ideas with clarity and conviction. Beyond the classroom, I had the opportunity to serve as a Student Services Volunteer, where I learned the value of teamwork, leadership, and community. Supporting fellow students taught me empathy, adaptability, and the importance of creating a welcoming environment. I was also grateful to work as a peer tutor in my favorite subjects, an experience made possible through the support of Prof. Erwin and YJ, Associate Director of Student Life. Helping others succeed not only reinforced my own knowledge but also strengthened my communication and leadership skills. These experiences have shaped my professional journey, and today, I work as an Office Manager, where I manage operations across four locations. Shubhnaz Kaur: I am a graduate of the 9th cohort: Associate of Arts in Business at Providence University College. I come from a small town in Punjab, India, and was raised in a close-knit Sikh family deeply rooted in humanity. My cultural values have shaped who I am today and continue to guide me in every step of my journey. Proudly, I am the first person in three generations of my family to come to university. I deeply value the diversity of my culture and the way it teaches us to care for others and stand for humanity. I strongly believe that before achieving anything in life, one must first strive to become a good human being. For me, no title is big or small – it is the honesty, dedication, and loyalty you bring to your work that truly matters. My time at Providence has been a journey of growth, connection, and service. I began as a campus ambassador of House Moody. This experience grew into my role as House Parent, where I supported students and helped create a sense of belonging. Being nominated as a Student Service Volunteer of Academics in STUCO and later serving as the Student Service Assistant of Academics allowed me to contribute more meaningfully to the academic community. Some of my most cherished memories come from simple yet powerful moments. During Orientation Week, I remember seeing many new students, just like I once was, and I loved helping them feel comfortable and welcomed by simply talking and connecting with them. Another meaningful experience was participating in inter-campus meetings, where I had the opportunity to share ideas and be a voice for positive change. Looking ahead, I aspire to become a strong and independent woman who continues to grow while staying grounded in my values. I believe that true success lies in sincerity and purpose, and I hope to carry these qualities with me in everything I do. ISMAIL HUSSEIN Graduation Speaker
Ismail Hussein arrived at Providence as an international student in 2010 and graduated with a BA in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology (with Highest Honours) in 2013. During his last year at Providence, he was nominated by the faculty to join the ABHE Honor Society (Delta Epsilon Chi) and was the recipient of the Clyde Krant Memorial Business Award. He has been working at Providence for the past twelve and a half years since he graduated. He started working as an Admissions Counsellor, Senior Enrollment Officer, Director of Enrollment Management, and Associate Director of Enrollment for International and Graduate Studies. He currently serves as the inaugural Director of Global Initiatives, where he leads the internationalization efforts for the institution. He represents Providence in both provincial and national associations, such as the Manitoba Council for International Education (MCIE) and the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE) respectively, as well as maintaining relationships with global partners. Providence has been a home away from home for Ismail for the past 16 years. He often reminisces about his time as an international student; going through old email exchanges between him and his admissions counselor when he first applied for admission, to flipping through pages of yearbooks and his assignments. Reflecting on his journey from time to time is what keeps him grounded and moving forward. As a former international student, he is privileged to be a part of the graduation ceremonies, and to share some words of encouragement with the class of 2026.
