Imagine stepping outside into a space filled with fresh air, gentle conversation, and the simple joy of being together. A place where residents can safely relax under the open sky, families can enjoy summer afternoons with loved ones gathered comfortably, music drifting through the air, and evenings that invite connection, reflection, and community.

Thanks to your generosity, the Hilltop Bistro is now beautifully renovated and serves as the vibrant indoor heart of The Mount. Now, we have the opportunity to extend that same warmth and sense of belonging outdoors by transforming the South Patio into a welcoming, safe oasis of outdoor living — one that truly inspires engagement, vibrancy, and the simple joy of enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.

Once a lively social space, the South Patio has long been a favorite spot for residents, families, and caregivers. While it remains pleasant during the warmer months, it now needs meaningful upgrades to better support our community — especially as we serve an increasing number of residents living with dementia, which can involve memory loss, confusion.

To ensure everyone’s safety, the patio door has been locked since the pandemic. Before then, residents could freely come and go to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Today, access requires a caregiver or aide with key access, which limits residents’ independence and spontaneous enjoyment of the outdoors. This can be especially frustrating for those residents who are independent or only require minimal assistance with daily living.

Because of you, the Bistro Campaign exceeded its goal. That is no small achievement. It is a powerful reminder of what happens when people who care deeply come together with trust, generosity, and shared purpose. Simply put — we are profoundly grateful.

Here at Providence Mount St. Vincent, we often speak of “foundation.” Not just the physical structure beneath our feet, but the deeper foundation that has carried this place forward for more than 100 years. Every step taken within these walls has been made possible by love and commitment — quiet, steady, and unwavering. That understanding of foundation is personal for me.

I grew up in Seattle’s Rainier Valley with two remarkable parents, seven children, and just 1,200 square feet. What we had was faith in God, the blessing of companionship, the gift of nourishment — and something equally essential: the commitment of our grandparents. They invested their time, their resources, and their hearts so that we could have a better life. We would not have made it without them.

In so many ways, that is who you are to the Mount.

Our donors are the ones who build upon an already-strong foundation. You protect those who cannot always protect themselves. You ensure safety, dignity, and beauty for residents who deserve nothing less.

With the Bistro now complete, we are being called forward once again to support the Patio Campaign. This next phase will create a beautiful, secure outdoor space where residents and community can gather, breathe, connect, and feel safe. In a world filled with overwhelming needs, this is one that is both meaningful and attainable — and one where your generosity can make an immediate, visible difference.

2025 Donor Support

More than ever the need for charitable support was first and foremost. Thanks to generous donors, the Foundation was able to continue the work that was so fundamental to what the Sisters of Providence envisioned when they founded The Mount to care for the poor and vulnerable.

Bistro Renovation

• Hallelujah Lights brought together residents, family and community members in a moment of remembrance to honor those who are no longer with us.

• Hilltop Bistro improvements began to brighten up the residents’ days with the new vibrant and renovated dining space becoming a reality!

• Holiday Open House Community Dinner in December filled The Mount with Christmas spirit and it was a wave of joy for our community and residents!

Volunteer Spotlight: Thank you to the Providence Mission Ambassadors!

At Providence, we carry on the mission to serve all, especially those who are poor and vulnerable. The Providence Mission Group honors that promise every year, and in 2025, they did so in a special way through their dedicated volunteer work here at The Mount. Throughout the year, their presence served as a steady reminder that service, when offered with joy and care, leaves a lasting impact.

From hands on renovation projects to moments of celebration and connection, this group showed up again and again. During Deloitte Day of Service, they rolled up their sleeves to support meaningful improvements to our space — renovation projects that will benefit residents and staff for years to come. Their commitment continued with the thoughtful work of painting the cafeteria, helping transform that shared space into what is now the Hilltop Bistro.

Beyond these projects, they brought life and laughter to our community celebrations. They supported activities such as Sip and Paint with residents, helped deck the halls during the Christmas season, and prepared baked goods for various holiday celebrations, adding warmth and joy to each gathering.

We are deeply grateful for the Mission Group’s generosity, energy, and unwavering spirit of service throughout 2025. Their contributions go far beyond the tasks completed — they help create a sense of belonging, dignity, and joy within our walls. Thank you for being such an important part of our community and for living out our mission in ways that truly matter.

The Pilgrim’s Journey

Carrying the Torch of Providence

During May, a group of Foundation board members traveled to Montreal to experience firsthand the legacy of the foundress of the Sisters of Providence, Emilie Gamelin. Their pilgrimage was led by Providence Executive for Mission Initiatives, Sr. Susanne Hartung, and followed the footsteps of Emilie’s service to the poor and the many ministries founded by the newly formed order that began in 1843.

Foundation board chair Deanne Yellam, reflected on the journey:

“When we walked the streets of Montreal and stood where Émilie Gamelin once served nearly 200 years ago, I felt the weight and beauty of our history. This pilgrimage was not just an educational trip — it was a call to action. The Sisters of Providence didn’t wait for perfect circumstances; they responded to the needs right in front of them with courage, compassion, and faith.

It’s been 100 years since the Sisters built Providence Mount St. Vincent. Their vision was clear — no one should be abandoned because they ran out of money. That remains our mission today: to provide charity care for those who have nowhere else to turn.

But the world around us is changing. Medicaid regulations, political climates, and economic pressures challenge us to think differently. Just as the Sisters adapted to the needs of their time, we must adapt to the needs of ours. The poor, the elderly, the lonely — they are still among us, and they still need us.

This pilgrimage has inspired me to do more — not just as a board member, but as a person. I want to live this mission daily: to tell the story of the Sisters, to support charity care, to advocate for those who have no voice, and to encourage others to join us.

Our outreach doesn’t have to be grand to be impactful. It starts with small acts of kindness and grows into programs and initiatives that change lives. The Sisters’ legacy challenges us to be bold, to take risks for the sake of love, and to never forget why we serve.

Now the question is — who will respond to our call?

I believe each of us here carries that torch. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of Providence continues — not as a history we honor, but as a mission we live.”

Black Tie Bingo Raises Critical Funds for The Mount!

The 2025 Black Tie Bingo event was a wonderful success! Together we raised over $400,000 of critically needed funds to support Charitable Care and Wonderful Life programming. THANK YOU to all who participated. We couldn’t have done it without you! In October, residents enjoyed the festive Top Hats & Tiaras event, a joyful, Black Tie Bingo inspired celebration where residents sipped sparking beverages, indulged in a special dessert, and played several lively rounds of bingo — winning fabulous prizes and sharing lots of laughter along the way.

Hallelujah Lights

A Time of Remembrance for The Mount Community

As an extension of our yearend campaign, Hallelujah Trees, we brought to you again “Hallelujah Lights.”

A cozy evening, with candlelighting, community, and remembrance in memory of our loved ones who are no longer with us.

The successful 2025 event ceremony was opened by Paulina Alvarado, PMSV Director of Spiritual Care, featured a special blessing by Providence Mission Leader Nancy Jordan, music by Starry Crowns Trio, and the lighting of our Singing Tree.
