Drama Productions at The Mount Live theater is thriving at Providence Mount St. Vincent! Bravo!

While the actors are not Broadway stars or even paid professionals, they are residents of The Mount. In fact, most have never performed in any type of play or musical. And they are joined by children enrolled in The Mount’s child care program, the Intergenerational Learning Center. All efforts are coordinated through Drama Productions at The Mount, a program to promote opportunities for residents and children to participate in the arts. It is a program funded solely by the Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation and is made possible by gifts to the Foundation. Throughout 2023, three productions were performed: Rafunzel, an adaptation of Rapunzel; The Magical Land of Oz, based on The Wizard of Oz; and Snowbody is Alone, a lovely musical tale about friendship and togetherness. Alone was a collaborative project with The Mount and Silver Kite Community Arts. The past couple of year’s productions halted all intergenerational activities at The Mount since the pandemic. Known internationally for this model of having older adults

and children engaged in planned activities daily, The Mount was propelled into the world’s spotlight in 2015 because of a trailer for a then-pending documentary (The Growing Season by Seattle filmmaker Evan Briggs) about The Mount’s Continued on page 2
