Interventional Radiology Case for Support

Keeping Providence Everett on the leading edge of patient care Advanced technology will deliver faster, safer and more precise care close to home. Interventional radiology, often referred to as IR, is one of medicine’s most innovative specialties. Using image-guided minimally invasive techniques, our physicians treat conditions through an incision the size of a pencil tip. Compared to open surgery, minimally invasive surgery allows patients to recover faster, experience fewer complications and often go home the same day. At Providence Everett, IR specialists work across nearly every area of medicine - from cancer and trauma to vascular disease, kidney and biliary conditions, and port placement for dialysis and chemotherapy. While IR is its own specialty, it plays an integral role in complex patient care. Many clinicians at Providence Everett depend on IR collaboration when treating patients. As technology has advanced, our equipment has reached the end of its service life. The current imaging suite, one of the oldest in the country, is increasingly limited in its capabilities and no longer meets the standards of today’s high-performance IR technology. Upgrading to a modern system will allow our caregivers to continue to deliver local, world-class care. The upgrade includes the purchase of a new Philips Azurion fixed fluoroscopy suite as well as construction needed to prepare the space all at an estimated cost of $5 million to $6 million.

Modern imaging technology improves precision, lowers radiation and helps patients heal faster.

How new technology will advance care The new system will dramatically enhance image quality and precision, which is essential for accurate medical interventions. Its faster processing speeds shorten procedure times. This means we can see more patients, decrease wait times and better meet the expanding needs of our community. The new system will make procedures safer by reducing radiation exposure to both patients and caregivers. Access to advanced technology also helps us attract and retain top clinicians, ensuring they have the tools to do their best work.
