React Homecare CR60 – Use of Bed Rails Policy and Procedure 1. Purpose 1.1 To ensure that staff understand how to reduce the potential harm to Service Users caused by falling from a bed or becoming trapped in bed rails. 1.2 To support Service Users and staff to make individual decisions around the risks of using and of not using bed rails. 1.3 To ensure that all Service Users undergo a risk assessment prior to the decision to use bed rails and that documentation supports the appropriate use of bed rails. 1.4 This policy and its content are based fully on the MHRA Safe use of Bed Rails document V3.0 and staff must have this resource accessible.
