React Homecare CC07 – Clinical Waste Disposal Policy and Procedure 1. Purpose 1.1 To establish requirements regarding safe handling and disposal of waste in healthcare in accordance with legislation, codes of practice and best practice guidance. 1.2 React Homecare aims to ensure that all staff have read, understood and comply with this policy and procedure and understand any local procedures that may be in place. 1.3 To meet the legal requirements of the regulated activities that React Homecare is registered to provide: o Department of Health Environment and Sustainability Health Technical Memorandum 07-01: Safe Management of Healthcare Waste (2013) o The Waste Regulations (England and Wales) 2011 o List of Waste Regulations (England and Wales) 2005 Amended 2012 o The Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2011 o The Environmental Protection Act 1991 Including The Duty of Care Regulations o The Controlled Waste Regulations 2012 o The Care Act 2014 o Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 o The Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2005 o The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 o Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 o Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 2.
