Avec l’arrivée du mois court Beaucoup de gens détestent de février, l’esprit de la l’idée du jour consacré à la Saint-Valentin semble briller Saint-Valentin et tout ce qu’il pendant les 29 jours. Pour moi, la Saint-Valentin a toujours été l’occasion de célébrer mes trois personnes préférées au monde : mes meilleurs amis qui m’ont témoigné un amour platonique inconditionnel. Parfois, les gens grandissent et oublient que l’amitié est une forme d’amour magique qu’il faut célébrer. Selon moi, l’amitié a le potentiel d’être le plus grand amour que vous pourriez connaître. Je fais en sorte de célébrer la Saint-Valentin chaque fois que je le peux. C’est toujours une occasion spéciale pour moi de créer des petits cadeaux et des cartes avec
mes amis proches. Pour ma part, j’adore faire des cadeaux aux gens. En matière de langage amoureux, mon groupe d’amis a des manières très variées pour exprimer leur affection. Ce qui nous a permis de rester unis au sein du groupe, c’est une communication régulière et ouverte. Dans toute relation, il est primordial de maintenir une communication ouverte pour éviter les conflits, et c’est précisément ce que nous faisons. Au fil des années, nous avons tellement communiqué et appris les uns sur les autres qu’il est presque naturel de se soucier Suite à la PAGE 9

Oh Glendon, wherefore art thou, Glendon? Will you be my Valentine? I know it’s a little late to ask, but the month is far from over. Your beautiful landscapes and welcoming (de)m(e)anor draw me to you. Not to mention the loving words you pour into your newspaper ;) In all seriousness though, happy (belated) Valentine’s Day! J’espère que vous avez passé du temps avec les personnes que vous aimez, ou que vous prévoyez de le faire. Comme l’exprime Flo dans son article, février est le mois idéal pour célébrer toutes les formes d’amour. C’est précisément ce que nous tentons de faire dans notre journal. Comme vous le savez déjà, l’équipe Pro Tem vous a demandé de partager vos messages d’amour, secrets et questions pour la Saint-Valentin. Voici le résultat. Vous trouverez non seulement les réponses à vos questions sur les pages 3-4, mais aussi les messages que vos camarades éparpillés partout dans le journal. Je suis sûr que les notes vous aideront à retrouver confiance en l’amour si vous l’avez perdu. Reading some of your love notes truly brought tears to my eyes, so I suggest having tissues nearby. Beyond Valetine’s Day-related news, we’ve also hit the halfway point in
the semester, marked by the winter reading week. It’s hard to believe that we’re almost done the academic year. It’s a little nerve-wracking to be honest. But such is life, it goes and goes and keeps on going at an uncontrollable pace. Breaks like reading week truly help us get back on track as students — or ahead if you’re the organized type! For Pro Tem that also means we only have three more issues to publish this year. So if you’ve been hesitant to contribute, definitely get on it. We’re excited to read your work! Faith only came on the cast three weeks before opening night and you never could have known. Jasmine, in her roles of Leilani and Courtney, never missed a beat and delighted the small theatre-goers with her hilarious facial expressions and comedic timing. During opening night, you could feel the energy of the cast and audience in the air. The audience around me was eating it up, laughing, gasping, cheering, and saying things like “This is so good! This is incredible! I’m blown away! I should have recorded it!” Meanwhile, the morning after, I had “Omigod, Omigod you guys,” “Keep it positive,” “Whipped into shape,” and more lyrics stuck in my head. I heard there was some set drama and cast changes during production and some people came to save it. Hopefully, it was all worth the trouble as the musical was a success! Moreover, the set designs and props were beautiful and practical to move easily and be reused. “Mad props” also goes to Rosie Wu, Morgan Albert, Madison Podlovics, Julia Ienesel, Austin King, Doǧukan Soran, Thomas Buschbeck, Ayanna Boucard, Eloise Holmes, Flo Tierra, Henna Shahzad, and Alina Goutte. We were so completely blown away that after my friend, Sathana, and I went on opening night, we immediately made plans to come back on closing night to experience it again. I had no previous exposure to the musical, it’s extremely catchy songs, and apparently from what I hear well-known tunes like “Gay or European.” Only having watched the iconic film many times did I enter what I thought would be a semi-interesting production that turned out to be a full-blown 4D feast for the senses — no really, at one point a store sales clerk sprays many spritzes of a perfume called “Love,” which wafts it way over to our noses. I fear this Glendon production will be hard to beat. However, if, in the near future, they ever do another musical of an iconic and beloved 2000s movie, I will be returning soon to Thêatre Glendon, hungry for more…
Your Personal Love Doctor Love Doctor How in the world do you find love these days (other than dating apps), I’ve been single for life :’) It seems as though nowadays, social media and dating apps have invaded natural love. I would definitely try embracing new environments, be more extroverted in the sense of talking to people during class, or if you go to the gym, for example, talk to people there. Strike up conversation when appropriate and build connections with people that way. Do not force a connection as that may doom the connection from the beginning. Let it be natural and gradual. I believe in the saying “Love comes when you least expect it” so I would definitely be on the lookout, but don’t rush or force anything. Just some words of comfort, there is no rush to be in a relationship. We all crave to give love and to be shown love. Once you find love, it will be all the better than if it were to be forced. The reasoning is that when something so precious comes along, something we feel is rare or unique, we cherish it a lot more than something common. When we experience them for the first time, we learn to hold relationships in our hands like they’re glass and will break if we drop them. Same as when we want to hold onto something near and dear to us. Love is love, and it is finicky and unpredictable, but it will happen. Keep being yourself, pursue your hobbies, pursue your degree, and pursue honesty with yourself; be true to who you are.

Campus Life Tip: Never change yourself to suit the perceived needs of other people. If you get into a relationship, you do not want to hold up the persona you’ve created to attract people. The key is that people are attracted to you for who you are naturally, so that you don’t have to act if it progresses to a relationship. I figured out my friend is bi and they like me. They haven’t come out yet, what do I do? If your friend is bi and hasn’t come out yet, maybe they’re uncomfortable coming out. It’s possible they aren’t ready, especially if they like you. The best advice I can give you is to wait it out. Give them time to come out to you, and confront them only if things get uncomfortable. The last thing you want is to force them to come out and then, if you don’t like them back, make them feel horrible. Unless it makes you uncomfortable and you find yourself becoming distant from them, I would suggest you let it be until they’re ready. Something to also think about is the source where this information is coming from. We shouldn’t take information from someone whom the information isn’t about with full credibility. This is how rumours start. I’ve been dating my bf for almost 2 years now, my parents are very strict so they don’t know about him. It’s easy to be honest, but it doesn’t work like that. What should I do? Navigating a relationship when you have strict parents is definitely challenging. There are so many worries, and there are risks you are taking by being in a relationship. I will offer you some recommendations and steps you can take. Take small steps with your parents. If having an open conversation is super daunting, consider taking smaller steps to gradually introduce your partner to your parents. Mention there is someone you like, or introduce him as a friend if your boyfriend is okay with that. Set boundaries with your parents, and let them set boundaries with you as well. If you can communicate with them, discuss certain things, like what they allow and won’t allow. Try and understand their point of view, whether their decisions are based on cultural or religious beliefs, understand it, and proceed with care. I believe from the question your parents may not be open to communication about relationships, however, you might have some luck when introducing scenarios, or inching your way into that conversation. If you can discuss your relationship
Metropolis with them, let them know why your relationship with your partner is important to you, and reassure them that what they’re afraid of is impossible if that’s the case. Truly, finding the balance between honouring and respecting your partner and parents is difficult but with patience, and those small steps, you can learn to navigate it and your parents will loosen up. Just remember, things will fall into place and you do not have to please everyone in your life. As children of our parents, we want to have their constant support and approval, but as generations move forward, sometimes what our parents believe to be the best is not what is best for us.

The decision you choose to make could lead to many consequences, either negative or positive. However, in this scenario, I would understand the feeling of needing to stay loyal to your friend and trying not to start drama, but something to think about is the impact of your friend’s actions on her boyfriend if they were to find out. If she is acknowledging the fact that she’s hurting someone she is in a relationship with, you should bring it up to her. Mention the fact that if you are willing to cheat on someone, for whatever reason it may be, you should break up with them. One thing to remember is that how your best friend responds to the situation is completely out of your control. The best thing you could do is first bring it up to your friend, maybe talk about it and mention the consequences of her actions, and try to make her understand why what she did was wrong. I would like to think your best friend values your opinion and your concerns. If this does not work, if your friend is not receptive to the concerns you have expressed, another option would be to tell her boyfriend that they’re being cheated on. Whether or not you are close to them, I’m sure they would be grateful if you told them.
These are just recommendations, it is ultimately up to you. Things will fall into place, and life will go on whether you do or do not confront your friend. If it aligns with your morals to confront, go ahead and tell the partner, you may save someone from prolonged hurt; if you are afraid of losing a friend, maybe mention it to her softly, and let her decide.

Iyam Flo Tierra Journaliste française Nous avons tous entendu parler du « people-watching », une activité où l’on peut s’asseoir n’importe où et observer les gens vaquer à leurs occupations. C’est fascinant d’observer la façon dont les gens vivent leur quotidien. Il est presque merveilleux que leurs chemins croisent le vôtre à ce moment précis, permettant ainsi à ces étrangers — de véritables personnes avec une vie réelle et unique — d’exister au même endroit et au même moment. Je suis fascinée par l’humanité et j’aime observer les gens interagir, voire simplement exister dans un espace. Parfois, je vois un étranger et j’ai envie de savoir qu’il est. Quelle est la nature de cette personne ? Tout ce que je vois, c’est leur apparence extérieure qui ne me révèle pas grand-chose. Parfois, j’invente des histoires pour chacune de ces personnes. Pendant des années, j’ai trouvé intéressant de le faire, parfois en cherchant l’inspiration pour de futures œuvres d’art. La plupart de mes muses étaient des inconnues que je n’avais vu qu’une seule fois. Bien que le « people-watching » soit un passe-temps agréable, j’essaie actuellement d’écouter attentivement les conversations des autres, juste assez fort pour les entendre. Je ne crois pas qu’il soit juste de
qualifier cela d’écoute clandestine si vous êtes dans un lieu public où les gens parlent fort autour de vous. Je me contente simplement d’écouter. Il m’arrive d’entendre des conversations banales, mais parfois j’entends aussi des commérages absurdes sur des personnes que je ne connais pas du tout (et pourtant, je me retrouve impliqué dans l’histoire !). Tout dépend des personnes qui m’entourent. Je n’ai pas de préférences quant aux personnes que je veux écouter ; je me contente d’écouter les gens parler et de noter tout ce qui m’intéresse. En général, il s’agit surtout d’échanges de mots insignifiants entre les gens. La plupart du temps, les gens parlaient dans des langues que je ne maîtrise pas. À chaque fois que cela arrive, je suis étonné de constater la sonorité des différents mots. J’aime écouter d’autres langues car il est toujours fascinant de prendre conscience de tous les éléments culturels que renferment les mots et les structures de phrases. Malgré tout, je finis toujours par réfléchir à ma propre vie et à la façon dont ces langues m’ont façonné en tant que personne évoluant au sein de différentes cultures. Je m’efforce réellement d’apprendre davantage de langues et de découvrir plus en profondeur leur culture, et jusqu’à présent, j’ai progressé malgré la lenteur.

Métropole En grandissant, ma famille parlait le tagalog. Bien que je m’efforce d’améliorer mon expression orale et ma prononciation dans la langue, je peux certainement la comprendre. Le mois dernier, alors que j’attendais à un arrêt de bus, j’ai entendu une femme parler tagalog au téléphone. Elle se tenait à côté de moi, alors j’entendais chaque mot, même avec mes écouteurs, tandis que j’écoutais tranquillement de la musique en attendant le bus. Au début, je n’essayais pas vraiment d’y prêter attention, mais comme je pouvais l’entendre parler, j’ai décidé de l’écouter un peu. C’était une conversation portant sur ce qui semblait être un drame familial. Je ne me souviens plus très bien des détails, mais je me rappelle avoir été légèrement captivé par l’histoire. Entendre des ragots inconnus sur sa famille peut être amusant, mais l’histoire m’a particulièrement intéressé car elle était racontée dans ma langue maternelle. En tout cas, elle a parlé au téléphone pendant quelques minutes jusqu’à ce que la conversation se soit apaisée. Quelques secondes plus tard, j’entends qu’il essaie de poursuivre la conversation en parlant de moi, l’autre personne à l’arrêt de bus. Après un court moment de silence, elle a prononcé ces mots qui pourraient se traduire par : « Les enfants d’aujourd’hui semblent avoir un esprit mort à l’intérieur. Il y a une fille ici qui regarde droit devant elle sans rien faire ; on dirait qu’elle dort les yeux ouverts». J’ai failli rire quand je l’ai entendue dire cela, car elle ne savait pas que je pouvais l’entendre grâce à mes écouteurs, et elle ne devait pas penser que je comprenais le tagalog. Pour être honnête, elle ne pouvait pas savoir que je la comprenais, d’autant plus que j’avais aussi teint mes cheveux. À moins qu’elle n’ait vraiment observé attentivement mon visage, elle n’aurait pas pu deviner que j’ai grandi en parlant tagalog. Je n’ai pas été contrarié — j’ai trouvé très amusant et divertissant qu’elle me décrive ainsi, et je pense que c’était probablement la chose la plus drôle que j’aie jamais entendue. J’apprécie la diversité de Toronto, où de nombreuses langues sont utilisées pour communiquer, et j’aime être entouré de gens en ville. C’était une simple coïncidence que cette femme parlait une langue que je comprenais. Bien que ce genre de situation ne se produise pas tous les jours, je vous conseille vivement d’essayer d’écouter les autres la prochaine fois que vous serez en public. Vous ne savez jamais quelles histoires drôles vous allez raconter !
A COP of Coffee Célia Teyssier Regenesis Glendon Coordinator Grab a coffee and sit down for a moment. Let’s take a few minutes to talk about the COP 28. Maybe you heard of it; maybe you didn’t. Well, let me introduce it to you. COP 28 is the twenty-eighth United Nations Climate Change Conference. It took place at the end of last year in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 30 until December 12, 2023. The purpose of the conference is for the whole world to come together and agree on how to tackle the climate crisis. They aim to limit global warming to 1.5°C, help vulnerable communities adapt to its effects, and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. The COP 28 has been extremely criticized. Let me highlight the outcomes of the conference and explain all the critiques that have been brought forward. Before it even started, people had mixed expectations of this COP. Indeed, the president of the conference this year was also the head of the largest oil company in the world. This demonstrates a clear conflict of interest. The COP 28 was the most attended COP of all time. It was among others well attended by industry lobbies, specifically those from the fossil industry. This minimized the representation of Indigenous peoples and other populations primarily threatened by climate change. However, it has stated several major elements, such as the link between food insecurity and climate change, finally recognizing how climate change can threaten people’s livelihoods by complexifying the access to or production of food. This brings hope for more funding towards building resilient food systems for the endangered population. L’objectif de ce texte est d’augmenter considérablement la capacité totale des énergies renouvelables d’ici à 2030, de doubler les progrès en matière d’efficacité énergétique et d’accélérer l’innovation technologique dans les secteurs « zéro carbone » et « bas carbone ». Néanmoins, des préoccupations persistent quant à l’utilisation continue des énergies fossiles pour produire du plastique. Confessions de Glendon
I met you when you were 17, and although we had never met in person when we would officially get together 4 months later, we had fallen in love. If you can say love at first sight exists, then we had it, because when we really met, 6 months later, and saw one another face to face for the first time, love was there. Long distance is something I would never have expected for myself. To think of how the pieces had to fall together for us to meet at all and then again to create the life we have now, nearly 7 years later, is still unbelievable to me today. Being with you led me to change my major, and the pandemic border closures led me to public actions to reunite. Our relationship has shaped my life now and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. To speak on love, I would say that there’s something so special about a best friend who becomes a partner, and I use the term partner because we are a team, equals, and you are always by my side — no matter the distance, or what life throws at us. Ranking the Last 5 Super Bowl Performances Connell Simkin-Watt Contributor One of the most iconic parts of the Super Bowl is its Halftime Show and with Super Bowl LVIII coming up soon, what better time than now to rank the last five halftime shows from worst to best?! Number 5: Maroon 5, 2019. Ahead of Super Bowl LIII in 2019, the NFL scrambled to find a halftime performer. At the start of the season, they had reached out to several notable artists, including Cardi B and Rihanna, but both rejected the offer due to the league’s treatment of black quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who had started kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality. Following this, Kaepernick was released by his team, the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick would later accuse the NFL of conspiring against him, and he has not played in the NFL since. Due to this, the NFL needed to quickly find a big artist willing to perform at the Super Bowl. That artist ended up being Maroon 5. The performance also featured appearances from rappers Big Boi and Travis Scott. The performance ended up being the most boring halftime show in recent memory, and Travis Scott and Big Boi faced criticism for accepting the gig due to the Kaepernick controversy. The show also paid homage to the creator of SpongeBob SquarePants, Stephen Hillenburg, who had passed away in 2018. The performance was dull and criticized across the board.

Number 4: Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, 2020. Following the aforementioned disaster known as the 2019 halftime show, the 2020 show was a significant improvement. To honour the deep-rooted Latin culture of Miami, the location of the Super Bowl that year, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez were chosen to perform. The show also featured guest appearances from fellow Latin musicians Bad Bunny and J Balvin. The halftime show was received very positively which was in stark contrast to the previous year’s show. The performance was praised for its energy and the artists’ Latin pride.
Number 1: The Weeknd, 2021. And coming in at number one, The Weeknd. The 2021 show, in my opinion, was the best Super Bowl halftime show in recent memory. The Weeknd’s performance was a spectacle; he performed plenty of his biggest hits and most iconic songs as he sang and danced through different sets, such as a city skyline, inside a house, and on the football field. Additionally, The Weeknd was accompanied by an array of backup dancers who helped enhance his set, making this an extraordinary and unforgettable performance!
Number 3: Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and 50 Cent, 2022. The 2022 show was the first Super Bowl halftime show to consist entirely of hip-hop and it did not disappoint. Taking place in the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the performance paid homage to California since Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg all hail from the state. It also made history by becoming the first Super Bowl halftime show to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Live). The performance was loved by both fans and critics and is among the recent bests. Number 2: Rihanna, 2023. After declining to perform at the Super Bowl in 2019, Rihanna was announced as the performer for the 2023 Super Bowl. The show was great and a huge moment for Rihanna, who performed for the first time since 2018 and announced her pregnancy. Rihanna’s performance, as well as the choreography of her and her dancers, was widely praised. The NFL will have a tough time producing a better Super Bowl performance in 2024.

Qui était Saint Valentin ? Geneviève Stacey Contributrice C’est la journée de la Saint-Valentin ! Février ! La saison d’amour ! N’est-ce pas ? Euh, pas au début, non. En fait, l’histoire de la journée est plutôt violente. Alors, qui était Saint Valentin, au juste ? Saint Valentin, également connu sous le nom de Valentinus, était un martyr chrétien décédé à Rome au troisième siècle. Le 14 février est la journée dédiée à sa célébration. Il existe peu de sources fiables datant de ce siècle qui en parlent, probablement parce qu’il n’était pas très apprécié par certaines personnes au pouvoir à Rome à l’époque. Il est considéré comme le saint patron des amoureux, des personnes souffrant d’épilepsie et des apiculteurs.1 Il a été martyrisé vers 270 à Rome pendant la persécution des chrétiens menée par l’empereur Claudius II Gothicus. Il existe différentes théories sur l’endroit où son corps a été enterré ; certains disent dans une basilique construite par-dessus, tandis que d’autres affirment que ses reliques ont été envoyées à Terni. Comme les reliques peuvent être des
objets ayant appartenu au saint, des objets ayant été touchés par le saint ou des morceaux littéraux du saint, cela rend la localisation de son corps assez complexe.2 Supposément, il a signé une lettre à la fille de l’homme qui le gardait en prison (et qu’il avait guéri de sa cécité avec un miracle) « de ton Valentin », d’où le fait que des cartes sont envoyées ce jour-là. chaque message et cadeau que nous nous sommes échangés, et je compte bien continuer cette tradition cette année encore. Chaque fois que quelqu’un me dit qu’il n’aime pas la Saint-Valentin, je lui parle de mes amis et des différentes formes d’amour qui existent. Cela permet généralement à tout le monde de comprendre que l’amour n’est pas forcément gênant. La Saint-Valentin peut agacer certaines personnes en raison de son côté commercial et de l’importance accordée à l’amour romantique (ce qui n’est pas nécessairement mauvais, mais cela peut déplaire à certains). En ce qui concerne la Saint-Valentin, j’apprécie particulièrement l’idée de l’amour, des fleurs et des cadeaux lorsqu’ils sont offerts avec sincérité. Je pense qu’il est important de dire aux personnes de votre entourage que vous vous souciez d’elles. La Saint-Valentin peut nous rappeler l’importance de prendre soin des autres. Je pense que ce serait merveilleux si la
Saint-Valentin évoluait vers une célébration de tous les types d’amour. La Saint-Valentin ne se limite pas aux relations amoureuses ; elle peut être célébrée pour l’amour platonique, l’amour familial et l’amour de soi. Il y a tellement de beauté dans l’amour et il y a tellement d’amour dans le monde. Cette fête, ainsi que tout le mois de février, nous rappelle l’importance de ne pas oublier de trouver l’amour dans le monde. Notre histoire et notre biologie nous ont programmés pour avoir besoin des autres pour survivre et socialiser. Nous sommes littéralement en train de maintenir notre bien-être. Notre amour et notre lien humain nous permettent de rester en vie. Cela dit, la Saint-Valentin n’est pas seulement une célébration de l’amour, mais également de la vie et de tout ce qui est important.

La musique est une force puissante qui dépasse toutes les barrières linguistiques et culturelles. Elle a le pouvoir de façonner nos émotions et de communiquer nos sentiments. Bien que la musique puisse être une clé pour rassembler les gens, elle peut aussi être une arme à double tranchant qui peut se focaliser sur la négativité et la toxicité. Le cerveau est une partie complexe de notre corps qui constitue et détient toute notre identité. La réponse du cerveau à la musique est le résultat de processus neurologiques complexes, qui peuvent déclencher une variété d’émotions. La musique peut avoir une énorme influence sur nos états émotionnels, allant des mélodies exaltantes aux tonalités sombres et mélancoliques. Cela peut également comporter un aspect sombre, caractérisé par des manipulations émotionnelles qui nous poussent à réfléchir sur la façon dont certains genres et paroles peuvent contribuer à des attitudes et des comportements toxiques. Ces derniers temps, Spotify propose une multitude de genres musicaux, notamment le hip-hop, le rap et les sous-genres du rock et de la pop, qui mettent souvent en avant des thèmes violents, la toxicomanie et les relations toxiques. Selon des études, une exposition continue à ce phénomène peut avoir un effet néfaste sur les auditeurs et po-
tentiellement influencer leur comportement et leurs attitudes de manière inconsciente. Un exemple évident de cela est présent dans la musique de The Weeknd. Les thèmes récurrents de négativité et de toxicité dans la plupart de ses chansons peuvent nous plonger dans un état d’engourdissement et nous pousser à adopter une attitude mélancolique toxique envers la vie. Le fait de consommer régulièrement des propos agressifs ou dépressifs peut entraîner une désensibilisation et une banalisation des idées néfastes, contribuant ainsi à une mentalité sociétale plus négative. L’écoute répétée de messages négatifs dans la musique peut aussi contribuer à la formation de bulles d’écho dans certaines sous-cultures. Lorsque les individus s’immergent dans une musique qui renforce des points de vue et des attitudes spécifiques, ils deviennent plus résistants aux perspectives alternatives, créant un environnement propice à la prolifération d’idéologies toxiques. En outre, certaines chansons peuvent évoquer des souvenirs et des émotions positifs, mais elles peuvent aussi ancrer des sentiments négatifs sur certaines pistes en particulier. The raw-vegan diet captivates social media influencers and consumers alike, with a new approach to nutrition. This dietary option is recognized as a straightforward diet which takes the vegan diet and combines it with the inability to consume cooked foods, known as the raw diet. Throughout the years, as more and more micro-influencers turn towards the exploration of alternative lifestyle choices that can enhance their well-being, many have begun experimenting with the raw-vegan diet. Now, you may be wondering about the origins of this diet. The origins of the raw-vegan diet are deeply rooted in history, with many notable mentions in ancient practices and spiritual contexts from around the world. The concept of consuming uncooked foods can interestingly enough be traced back to the Bible, specifically in the book of Daniel. This can be found in Daniel 1:8-14 and Daniel 10:2-3
and continues to be traditionally incorporated in congregational practices of select religious denominations. This emphasizes the connection between food choice and spiritual discipline. This diet, when practiced, is often referred to as “The Daniel Fast,” however, those who participate do not only gain spiritual discipline but receive health benefits as well. Advocates of the raw-vegan diet often claim that there are many health benefits associated with consuming plantbased and unprocessed foods. Many raw vegans see their choices as a more ethical and sustainable way of living. However, the future of the raw vegan movement remains uncertain.
