CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

WELCOME

As Middlesex in the Community (MITC), reaches its third year of operation, we are delighted to be appointing our first dedicated Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

With a talented young team already in place, this is a pivotal and hugely exciting time for the charity. As we move into our next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced leader to work with the Board and team to realise our ambition of becoming one of the leading cricket charities in the country.

Having navigated a challenging period which led to the formation of the charity in 2024, MITC has built a strong internal team, that are enabling us to expand participation opportunities and increase our impact across Middlesex, engaging people of all ages and backgrounds.

This early success has enabled us to strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders including the ECB, ACE, Chance to Shine and the Lord’s Taverners, whilst also securing new sources of funding to support our growth.

Alongside this, Middlesex benefits from a thriving network of clubs and leagues, driven by dedicated volunteers who are fundamental to the success of the game across the county. Building strong, collaborative relationships across this network will be central to our future success.

We believe that there is significant untapped potential for MITC. Being based in the most diverse cricketing county and with a highly ambitious Board and team, we have a unique opportunity to broaden our reach into new communities, whilst deepening our impact where the game is already established.

We are seeking a CEO with a clear passion for cricket and community impact, and a track record of building and scaling organisations sustainably. Crucially, they will bring the leadership needed to foster a high-performing, inclusive culture in which our people can thrive.

Together, we are excited to work towards achieving the MITC mission of “Supporting open, welcoming cricket for all, engaging a new generation of players and creating positive impact for everyone involved in the game in Middlesex.”

ABOUT MIDDLESEX IN THE COMMUNITY

Middlesex in the Community (MITC) is the charitable arm of Middlesex Cricket, dedicated to transforming lives and strengthening communities through the power of sport.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Middlesex County Cricket Club (MCCC), we serve as the driving force for the development and growth of the recreational game across the seventeen London Boroughs that form the historic cricket county of Middlesex.

Our work is rooted in the belief that cricket is a unique vehicle for social change. We operate in one of the most diverse, vibrant, and urbanised regions in the world, and our mission is to ensure that cricket is an open, welcoming, and accessible game for everyone, regardless of age, background, or ability.

OUR CORE PURPOSE

MITC is responsible for the strategic oversight of participation and recreational cricket. We support the existing network of clubs, leagues, and volunteers while simultaneously reaching out to a new generation of players. Our role is twofold:

1. Sustaining the Game

We provide governance, safeguarding, and operational support to the hundreds of clubs and thousands of volunteers who are the lifeblood of recreational cricket in Middlesex.

2. Expanding the Reach

We deliver high-impact community programmes that use cricket to improve health, education, and social cohesion.

KEY AREAS OF IMPACT

Youth and Education

We partner with both state and independent schools to provide coaching and teacher training, ensuring that children from all backgrounds have the chance to experience the game.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We proactively work to increase participation among underrepresented groups, including our dedicated programmes for Women and Girls’ cricket and Disability cricket.

Workforce Development

We train and mentor the next generation of coaches, officials and volunteers, umpires, and administrators, building a resilient and skilled workforce for the future.

Facility Development

We work with local authorities and partners to provide and improve the facilities, land, and equipment necessary for cricket to thrive in an urban environment.

SYNERGY WITH MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET CLUB (MCCC)

While Middlesex in the Community (MITC) operates as an independent registered charity with its own Board of Trustees, it remains an integral part of the broader “Middlesex Cricket” family. The CEO of MITC plays a pivotal role in maintaining the “One County” philosophy, ensuring that the professional and recreational arms of the sport work in harmony.

Key pillars of this relationship include:

Strategic Alignment

The CEO will work closely with the leadership of Middlesex County Cricket Club to ensure that the charity’s community goals align with the club’s wider mission to grow the game and enhance the Middlesex brand across London.

Operational Integration

MITC is headquartered at Lord’s Cricket Ground alongside MCCC, with the MITC team also benefitting from a base at the Middlesex Indoor Cricket School in Finchley, where the majority of the team are located. The CEO will oversee shared service arrangements, ensuring that MITC benefits from the club’s established infrastructure—including HR, Finance, and Marketing—while maintaining the charity’s distinct identity and regulatory independence.

The Professional-to-Recreational Pathway

A core focus of the synergy is leveraging the professional game to inspire community participation. The CEO will facilitate opportunities for professional players and coaches to engage with MITC community programmes, using the “Power of the Crest” to drive engagement in schools and local clubs.

Brand and Identity

The CEO will be a custodian of the Middlesex Cricket brand within the community sector, ensuring that all charitable activities reflect the values and heritage of the club while meeting the specific reporting and impact requirements of the charity’s funders and stakeholders.

Stakeholder Diplomacy

As the primary link between the professional club and the recreational network, the CEO acts as a bridge, ensuring that the voices of grassroots clubs and community partners are heard within the corridors of the professional game.

STRATEGY

Over the next three to five years, Middlesex in the Community (MITC) aims to establish itself as one of the leading cricket charities in the country, recognised for delivering meaningful social impact, growing participation, and strengthening communities through cricket.

MITC’s strategic direction will focus on sustainable growth, widening access to the game, and building a resilient organisation capable of delivering longterm impact across Middlesex’s diverse communities. Central to this ambition is increasing participation in cricket amongst underrepresented groups, particularly women and girls, ethnically diverse communities, young people, and individuals with disabilities.

The charity will continue to strengthen relationships with schools, clubs, local authorities, charitable partners, and the ECB to expand both recreational opportunities and community outreach programmes. Alongside this, MITC will seek to diversify and grow its income streams through grant funding, strategic partnerships, corporate sponsorship, philanthropy, and community engagement initiatives, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

A key priority will be enhancing the pathway between recreational and professional cricket through stronger collaboration with Middlesex County Cricket Club, using the profile and influence of the professional game to inspire greater community participation and engagement.

MITC will also focus on strengthening its organisational infrastructure, governance, safeguarding framework, and people strategy to ensure the charity remains modern, inclusive, and operationally effective.

Investment in workforce development, volunteer support, digital capability, and impact measurement will enable MITC to scale its reach while maintaining highquality programme delivery.

Ultimately, MITC’s strategy is centred on creating lasting social value through cricket, ensuring the game remains open, accessible, and relevant to future generations across Middlesex.
