The Liberty Bell " roclaim liberty P throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof" is a partial inscription on the Liberty Bell. The Liberty Bell was rung to announce the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress in 1776. Did you know that the bell was originally cast in London in 1752? It was purchased for the Pennsylvania State House to commemorate the 50-year anniversary of William Penn's 1701 Charter of Privileges, Pennsylvania's original Constitution. The bell was hung in the tower of Independence Hall. During the fight for independence, British troops captured Philadelphia.
