Opening a restaurant isn’t a surefire path to success. It’s one of the riskiest businesses you can take on, and Jeremy knows that well–he was born into a

family of restaurateurs. He drained his savings and racked up credit card debt to gamble on Truago’s opening in Trenton. “He took his dream and ran with it, and now he’s at nine restaurants,” Carrie says.

“I worked with my dad in the food and restaurant business growing up,” Jeremy recalls. “I did leave and spent many years in machine building and fabrication. But I always craved the restaurant business and eventually decided to follow my heart.” That same heart led him back to what he knew best–family recipes. His real family now works in the restaurants too, but running a successful business takes more than relatives. A found-family approach fills in the gaps.

location but show strong work ethic may find themselves welcomed back into another part of Jeremy’s growing food family. But keeping multiple restaurants running smoothly requires more than hustle–it takes commitment to quality. “It all comes down to the team,” Jeremy says. “I’ve invested time in hiring and training exceptional people who understand the business and my vision. From management to bussers, everyone knows their role and takes pride in what they do. They handle the dayto-day with care and consistency, which lets me focus on the bigger picture. I couldn’t do it without them.”

That sense of family even extends to the regulars. In the restaurant world, regular customers are as essential as any signature dish. When one longtime regular was hospitalized, Jeremy found out where he was being treated–and sent lunch to the entire hospital floor. “He decided to donate food to the whole third floor of Corewell Health,” Carrie says. “We made lunch for the people taking care of a man we all consider family.”

With rising inflation and the lingering effects of the pandemic, restaurant margins are tighter than ever. Yet Jeremy remains committed to keeping prices accessible. “The cost of ingredients has skyrocketed, but he doesn’t want to pass that on to customers,” Carrie says. That gamble–lower prices–goes hand in hand with a deep appreciation for the team behind the scenes. One year, Jeremy rented out a riverboat for an all-staff appreciation cruise. Another year, he rented out the Monroe Golf and Country Club. “Ice sculptures and chocolate fountains,” Carrie recalls. “It felt like a wedding.”

It’s all about sharing the success with the people and the community who made it possible. “He has a generous spirit,” Carrie says. “I think he likes to see strong communities.”

As for what keeps him rooted in Downriver, Jeremy puts it simply:

“It’s tight-knit, strong, and vibrant. We have the opportunity to know our guests personally and see many of them several times a week. It has that small-town feel where everyone knows everybody.”

His businesses may have flourished here–but more importantly, he lives here. And the community has supported him from day one. “Downriver has my heart,” Jeremy says. ◆

With partners Francis Brooks and Chris Ramirez, Jeremy is now working on his next project: Tony’s Trattoria, a smaller, swanky Italian restaurant bringing bold Italian flavor–especially in the homemade sauces. As the family expands, so does the mission: creating a diverse, welcoming team. Through Corewell Health, they’re partnering with Project Search, a job placement initiative for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. They’ve already identified one promising candidate. “We’ve been told she’ll be an employee for life,” Carrie says. “Everybody deserves a chance.”

That goes for second chances, too. Employees who leave one

Maria and Mike Starkey redefine Real Estate with Care and Community

THE STARKEY TEAM, A HUSBAND-WIFE PARTNERSHIP

Maria Starkey was born in Trenton and spent her first years there, laying the foundation for her deep connection to the community. After moving back to Trenton and living there from 1996 to 2003, Maria started her real estate career, enjoying great support from the community as she began. She remains grateful to the residents of Trenton for their continued support. Since the late 1990s, Maria has sold over 800 homes Downriver and beyond, building her reputation on something that can’t be taught –genuine care for her clients. “My clients are always number one to me,” Maria says, and it’s clear she means it.

Recently, Maria hasn’t been flying solo anymore. Her husband Mike, a Ford Motor Company millwright nearing retirement, recently earned his real estate license. Although he likely won’t fully join the team until retirement, Maria and Mike are already making waves in the local market.

A TEAM YEARS IN THE MAKING

Mike’s move into real estate wasn’t sudden. Mike has been Maria’s unofficial assistant for years, helping power-wash an elderly client’s home here, lending a hand with getting homes camera ready – the kind of personal touches that set the Starkeys apart.

“Mike brings priceless things to the job – his hands-on help, support, and commitment,” Maria explains. Now that he’s licensed, those “priceless things” have become part of their service.

Mike has earned his home inspection license and launched Mike Starkey Home Inspections. This dual role creates unique opportunities for clients. For example, in some situations, he can conduct pre-listing inspections for sellers, helping them identify and address po-

Continued on page B 8

tential issues before they hit the market. “It’s situation dependent,” Maria notes, “but it can really help the inspection process go smoothly for everyone involved when it’s time for the buyer to have their inspection done.”

The inspection business isn’t limited to their own clients either. Mike collaborates with other agents throughout the area to offer home inspections, adding another dimension to their expanding family business.

FINDING BALANCE TOGETHER

For Mike, stepping into real estate has been a somewhat eye-opening experience. “Learning how much is involved” has surprised him most since getting licensed. While he’d always lent Maria a hand with the physical aspects of her work, such as preparing homes for previews or listings, the business side presented a different kind of challenge.

“He’s a worker bee that could work circles around anybody,” Maria says with obvious pride. “But when he has to stop and not just do physical work, it’s a new perspective, a new pace.”

The paperwork, the processes, the client management – it’s all new territory for someone used to working with his hands. Fortunately, Maria has the complicated part of buying and selling, such as the rules, regulations, forms, and documents, down pat. “It’s a wonderful balance,” she notes, as the couple supports one another with their individual strengths and skills. That’s what being a team, a partnership, is all about.

But Mike is finding his footing. He accompanies Maria on appointments, and increasingly, clients are seeking him out specifically. “Some people come to me for Mike,” Maria laughs. “He makes the connection, but often he defers them back to me for my knowledge and experience.”

Once Mike fully retires, the plan is to expand the inspection side of the business and increase his involvement in sales. For now, he’s learning the ropes while still bringing that invaluable hands-on support that clients have come to appreciate.

EXPERT TEAM

Meet Maria  and Mike  Starkey, a  dynamic real  estate duo.

A CLIENT-CENTERED APPROACH

This year alone, the Starkeys have already closed 25 homes, projecting what could be one of their best years yet. Currently, about 40% of their business comes from Grosse Ile, though Maria knows that can change at any time. What doesn’t change is their commitment to being more than just transaction facilitators.

“What I hear a lot from clients is that they want somebody that is on their team,” Maria explains. She shares the story of a recent medical school graduate who was house hunting.

The young woman’s parents told her, “You went and looked at a house you found on the internet, but now you’re serious – you need a confidante who will guide you, knows your circumstances, and will be there for you in the long term.”

Maria had known this client for around eight years through her parents, having assisted them with buying and selling. So when it was her time to purchase a home of her own, her parents knew just who to refer her to. “Having the depth of clients over the years, you build that trust and the knowledge,” Maria reflects. It’s exactly

the kind of relationship that sets her apart from agents who see clients as one-time transactions.

The personal touch extends beyond her own clients. Recently, one of her family members was looking at homes in West Michigan and asked Maria to review a contract. “I had no problem helping him,” Maria explains, “but I did wonder why his agent wasn’t doing that for him,” she says. “You can run into that in the real estate world,” she notes, “and I think it’s so important that agents take the time to explain things to buyers and sellers, like these complicated forms, so they don’t feel so blindsided or inexperienced.”

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

The Starkeys’ commitment to community extends well beyond individual transactions. Through Real Estate One, they participate in MBA real estate fundraising and maintain a visible presence at community gatherings and events.

“We’re there to answer questions, have a presence, and give away free ice cream,” Maria laughs, “but people can be confident that when they form that relationship, there will be a lot of trust,” Maria says. “I’m there to help

them navigate the buying and selling process.”

These interactions often begin as small talk about the market but can evolve into meaningful conversations about what people truly need and how she can assist them. “So much of what we do is without pay – you don’t get paid until you close – but I love helping friends, family, and other connections I’ve made in the community.”

It’s these little interactions that keep their business top of mind while also making a meaningful impact in their neighbors’ lives. Even when people don’t hire them directly, Maria wants to ensure they work with someone experienced and knowledgeable.

“You fall in love with a house, you’ve got one shot to get it, and you’re counting on someone else to represent and defend you,” she explains, encouraging others not to take the real estate agent selection process lightly.

WORKING AND GROWING TOGETHER

Although business is going well for the Starkeys, it’s just one benefit of their partnership. Maria and Mike genuinely enjoy working together. “It takes a special kind of relationship to work with a spouse,” Maria acknowledges, “but ours works because of mutual respect.”

Their excitement about the partnership is palpable, and it’s clear that both they and their clients benefit from this unique dynamic. As Mike continues to learn the business and eventually transitions fully into real estate, the Starkey team remains a husband-and-wife partnership built on decades of community connection, hands-on service, and genuine care for every client who trusts them with one of life’s biggest decisions.

In an industry often focused on numbers and rankings, the Starkeys remain committed to what matters most: the people they serve and the community they call home. ◆

IN MEMORIAM

Greg Holbrook

Lifelong Faith, Unmatched Work Ethic, Enduring Legacy

EDIT T. Avery Norkey

Greg Holbrook, the founder of Holbrook’s Roofing, served his community and family every possible opportunity he had. Members of the Trenton community remember Greg as a caring, professional, and respectful businessman – but this man’s legacy extends far beyond his business’s name.

A PASSIONATE DRIVE

Greg lived in Trenton nearly his entire life and was married to high school sweetheart Betty Jo Holbrook for 47 years. He consistently gave back to his community with strong work ethic and faith. Greg and Betty Jo had three daughters, Emily, Natalie, and Elizabeth, whom Greg loved dearly, doing his best to motivate and inspire them to be their greatest selves. According to Emily, he consistently reminded his daughters not to let cultural or gender stigmas hold them back from their goals.

“He was a very kind man,” shared his daughter, Emily Ottenbreit. “He encour-

aged all three of us girls to follow our dreams and be hard workers. From the time I was little, my dad basically told us that we can do whatever we wanted to do.”

All three of Greg’s daughters got involved with the family business when they were young – Natalie helped with roofing in college, while Elizabeth and Emily both worked in the Holbrook’s Roofing office. Under her father’s encouragement, Elizabeth became an entrepreneur herself by opening Elevate Salon and Spa with her mother, where Emily also worked for 17 years. Even his grandsons, Jonah and Micah, learned welding and other valuable skills by getting involved in the warehouse, with Jonah going on to become a welding engineer.

“I think he’s left his three daughters and grandchildren a legacy of generosity, hard work, and faith,” said Emily. “He was very strong in his faith. He loved the Lord and told everyone that he came in contact with about that.”

Greg was an active member of the Church of the Way and loved his family of worship, who supported and rallied around him after his diagnosis. After Greg passed in July 2025, memorial contributions were requested to be made directly to the Church of the Way and to Rancho Santa Marta – a ministry and orphanage on Mexico’s Baja California peninsula where Natalie attended a mission trip. Both organizations were close to Greg’s heart.

UNMATCHED WORK ETHIC

Greg honed his vigorous work ethic from his youth while working as a midnight cook in high school. Being able to work and achieve the things he dreamed of gave Greg an unstoppable drive to put his heart into every job he took.

“His handshake was his word,” said Emily. “He loved to work. He thrived off of working. I mean, he worked till the day he died.”

According to Emily, Greg originally tried his hand at roofing to get over his fear of heights. After working under another foreman, Greg was encouraged by Betty Jo to open his own business. After all, if he’s already working this hard,

why not work just as hard for something that could genuinely be his?

MAKING HOLBROOK’S ROOFING WHAT IT IS TODAY

Greg started his own operation, Holbrook’s Roofing, in November 1980, with a lot of help from Betty Jo. He used his skill set to offer flat roofing, shingles, and more residential and commercial options over time. The business quickly became known for its pristine service quality and an unignorable work ethic shared by every member of the team.

As owner and founder, Greg quickly recognized the importance of treating his employees with respect and integrity. Even with nearly 45 years of history, Holbrook’s Roofing has seen relatively minimal turnover, with both current foremen and the office manager serving the community for over 20 years.

Greg’s dedication to colleagues and community showed no limits. His family recalled him talking to foremen from his hospital bed through his final weeks, proving his commitment to work was truly lifelong.

While Holbrook’s Roofing is currently in a state of transition, the business aims to continue serving Downriver communities with the same quality and care they’ve grown to expect. Ownership and operations will remain internal with the existing foreman team.

“Holbrook’s Roofing is not going anywhere,” Emily stated. “We’re really excited about this process. It’s all going to stay the same. They’ve been running it for years, and my dad’s been the man behind it in his work. He was their mentor… His legacy is gonna live on.”

Greg Holbrook loved his colleagues, his community, his church, his family, and, particularly, his grandchildren, whom he was intensely proud of. He will be deeply missed by those fortunate to have him in their lives, and his legacy will live on in his business, his community, and the family members he so deeply inspired. ◆

We honor Gregory Holbrook’s life and contribution to our community.

Deacon Bob Bovitz

A Life of Service and Spirit

Micki Bovitz used to tell her late husband, Bob Bovitz, “You should write a book.” Born on September 17, 1935, in Wyandotte, Bob attended St. Patrick’s School, graduated from the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Detroit Mercy.

“When I first met him, I told my mom, ‘There’s something special about him,’” Micki recalls. Their first date was in November 1957. He gave her his college ring that January, proposed in June, and they were married in September. “He’s a fast worker, okay?” she says with a laugh. Together, they raised five children: Kenneth, Robert, Beth, Jeanne, and Cathy. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Pops.”

Bob’s dedication to public service began in the 1950s with the Wyandotte Jaycees. He later became director of the public speaking group The Christophers, transferred to the Trenton Jaycees, and worked with a nonaffiliated political action group focused on increasing civic engagement.

He was appointed to the Trenton Planning Commission by the city’s first mayor, Robert Teifer, and later served as Mayor of Trenton from 1977 to 1983. Bob also chaired the Michigan Municipal League and the American Institute of CPAs. As an accountant, he maintained the same

office from 1984 onward, a space where his son, Rob, still works. The wall calendar remains frozen on “October 2022,” the last time Bob was there.

“Neither one of us thinks of being a CPA as a job,” Rob says. “It’s about being a people facilitator.” That mindset carried into Bob’s spiritual life as well. He began seminary classes in 1995 and was ordained a permanent Deacon in 2000. He went on to cofound the annual Downriver Prayer Breakfast, alongside Harry Lester of United States Steel Corp. and Pastor Billy Walker of Calvary Baptist

Church. His mission, whether as a Deacon or a CPA, was always to bring people peace of mind.

Bob passed away at home on Friday, June 13, surrounded by family. “He was still joking around with people,” Micki remembers. That calming spirit never left him. “He never swore,” she adds. “But I would occasionally, and when I did, he’d say, ‘I can’t believe a grandma is doing that.’ He would make me laugh, and I’d get over whatever I was upset about.” ◆

The Profile also honors Deacon Bob Bovitz’s enduring legacy.

Why Stuff Matters

Preserving Bricks, Honoring History:

Jeff Wagar’s Legacy for Trenton’s Past

If you’re reading this, you’re probably familiar with Riverside Osteopathic Hospital. Located on West Jefferson Avenue and Truax Street, it opened in 1944 and served both the city of Trenton as well as the entire Downriver community for decades – including witnessing literally thousands of births.

It closed in 2002, and as you probably know, stood vacant for more than 20 years, during which time it became a point of contention until finally being demolished earlier this year.

But this story is not about the hospital. It’s about one of the things that happened next – and perhaps more importantly, the significance behind one of those things that happened next.

As a member of Trenton’s Historical Commission, lifelong resident Jeff Wagar along with a couple of his fellow volunteers were working at the Trenton Historical Museum last fall, when Wagar turned to one of his colleagues and said, “I’ll be right back.”

“Where are you going,” his friend asked.

“I’m going to run over to the hospital demolition site and see about getting a couple of bricks from the building to put in the collection,” Wagar replied.

Soon he returned with exactly that, ensuring that years from now those bricks could be put on display, reminding anyone and everyone of the connection they may have had with the iconic facility.

“Stuff matters,” explained the 80-year-old Wagar. “And this stuff, these artifacts, are more than just objects. They’re like windows into our past, essential links to our shared history – which is why it’s important to preserve artifacts from Trenton’s historical places or events, so we can re-

member, learn about and in some cases, honor those involved.”

Wagar arguably knows as much as anyone about the history of Trenton. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1963, a member of the class whose gift was the Trojan mosaic that to this day adorns the floor at the school’s main entrance.

He then went on to attend college in Kentucky but had to return home and get a job to help pay medical expenses because of his father’s long-term illness. He later retired from a 30-year public service career with the Wayne County Road Commission, serving as a Road Supervisor.

Along the way, he’s been an active volunteer with groups such as Trenton’s Historical Commission, the Historical Society and Library Board. He is also the author of the 2019 publication “Elizabeth Park”, a place where, as a teen, he worked as a seasonal summer employee.

“During my time with the library, I was appointed to the building committee, which resulted in the creation of our new Trenton Veterans Memorial Library,” Wagar proudly explained. “And along with the opening of the new library, I was able to help create the Friends of the Library group, the independent nonprofit 501(c)3 that works to provide resources to the institution.”

It was also when Wagar experienced his most satisfying volunteer assignment, working as part of the team that created the Trenton War Memorial Project. His work was critical in researching and identifying key information on the 61 deceased veterans from Trenton and the wars in which they lost their lives in service to their country and community.

“There was a dinner for the families following the dedication back in 2011,” Wagar recalled. “It was there that so many expressed such heartfelt gratitude for their family members to be remembered in this way. It brought home to me our war dead were not the only casualties of war… their families were, too.”

Wagar continues to find ways to honor these soldiers, most recently constructing a Wall of Remembrance inside the Trenton Historical Museum, complete with photos of nearly all of the fallen. He also has on display many of the historical artifacts he personally collected over the years as part of the collection of items arranged by subject matter that help tell the story of Trenton’s

rich, diverse history. And he will be part of Trenton’s Time Capsule initiative.

Announced earlier this year, the city purchased a large, stainless-steel capsule that will be sealed and “buried” on July 4, 2026, at a still-to-be determined location, as part of the nation’s Semi-quincentennial Celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s scheduled to be opened in the year 2084, when Trenton celebrates its own 250th anniversary in honor of its founding, known then as Truaxton.

This initiative is led by Volunteer Chair Peter Poulos, a member of the Trenton Historical Commission and Executive Director of the Trenton Educational Foundation. It’s designed to offer a glimpse into our current lives, values, and culture.

The Trenton Historical Commission,

along with a representative committee which will be formed, will help determine what artifacts will be included in the capsule.

“That’s why stuff matters,” Wagar repeated. “In many cases, it can tell the story of an entire chapter of life without any words.”

This will certainly be the case when in the future, the bricks Wagar thought to gather from the Riverside Hospital demolition site are put on display inside the museum – and someone whose child was among the thousands who were born there comes across them. Indeed, no words will be necessary to create that powerful connection to the past. ◆

GREAT LAKES HEALTH, WELLNESS & AESTHETICS

COMMITTED TO HELPING YOU ACHIEVE OPTIMAL HEALTH, TO IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE

Dr. Anne Abrahamson has always known she wanted to become a physician. From a young age, her desire to help others in a meaningful, lasting way led her to pursue a career in medicine. She found her calling in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a specialty that is board-certified and centers around restoring function and enhancing quality of life. Over the past six years, her medical practice has expanded to include the rapidly evolving field of cellular medicine. This shift has allowed her to focus more on healthspan rather than simply lifespan–helping patients add quality, vibrant years to their lives rather than just counting more days on the calendar. “My goal,” she explains, “is to be stronger, faster, and smarter in the coming decades than I am now.”

Her work now integrates the cutting-edge field of longevity medicine, a highly personalized and preventive approach rooted in deep biomarker analysis related to aging and long-term health. Every treatment offered through her clinic is backed by rigorous scientific research. As one of only a few Cellular Medicine Fellows in the country, she brings a rare level of expertise to her patients. “I am a medical physician who truly wants to help by

lessening the burden of prescription medications and encouraging movement,” she shares. Her treatments are designed to optimize cellular efficiency and metabolism, enhancing the body’s natural resilience. The practice also offers functional pain management and specializes in musculoskeletal injuries, with a strong emphasis on getting athletes and active individuals back to their routines as quickly and safely as possible.

From the moment a patient enters the clinic, Dr. Abrahamson and her team prioritize a premium experience. She treats every patient as though they were a member of her extended family. “I want everyone to live to their best abilities,” she says. Her most meaningful moments come when patients and their families express how significantly the care they’ve received has improved their lives.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Abrahamson is passionate about health and fitness. She lifts weights at 3D Fit and practices yoga at 359 Yoga, both of which play a vital role in her physical and

mental well-being. “I can absolutely sympathize when an injury takes you away from your daily activities,” she says. She believes strongly in self-care and leads by example, living the same healthy lifestyle she encourages in her patients. Her commitment is rooted in the philosophy of personalized optimization, pushing beyond the status quo. “Standard of care,” she adds bluntly, “should be criminal.”

EAR, NOSE, THROAT, ALLERGIES & FACIAL PLASTIC SURGERY

WITH NEARLY 30 YEARS IN PRACTICE, DR. MICHAEL FREEDMAN DELIVERS HIGH-QUALITY CARE TO PEDIATRIC, ADULT, AND SENIOR PATIENTS THROUGHOUT THE DOWNRIVER AREA

Dr. Freedman is a double board-certified physician in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) medicine and Allergy, as well as a trained facial plastic surgeon. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of conditions, including sinus infections, allergies, nasal breathing issues, ear infections, hearing loss, dizziness, and disorders affecting the throat, swallowing, and voice. He also performs the removal and reconstruction of skin cancers, blending medical precision with an aesthetic approach. “I combine medical precision with cosmetic sensitivity,” he says, highlighting his dedication to achieving both functional and visual results for patients. His practice includes a full-service hearing and balance center, providing testing and treatment for auditory and vestibular disorders, with access to advanced hearing aid technology tailored to meet each patient’s needs.

Every patient in Dr. Freedman’s practice is personally evaluated and treated by him. “Every patient in my practice is seen and cared for directly by me,” he emphasizes, underscoring his belief in physician-led care. He does not delegate clinical responsibilities to mid-level providers, instead choosing to maintain a hands-on approach at every stage of diagnosis and treatment. “Delivering the highest standard of care means providing personal, physician-led attention at every step.” Patient education is also central to his philosophy: “I take the time to explain each condition and treatment option thoroughly, so my patients are empowered to make informed decisions.” For sinus procedures, he uses advanced surgical navigation technology in the office, adding, “This added layer of accuracy helps ensure the best possible outcomes with minimal risk.”

Dr. Freedman treats a wide range of ENT conditions, with a strong focus on sinus and allergy-related disorders. His practice features a fully equipped, in-office allergy clinic dedicated to

diagnosing and treating both environmental and food allergies. “These are conditions that affect a growing number of people and often go underrecognized,” he explains. Testing is done on-site, and for eligible patients, he offers allergy desensitization therapy through allergy shots. “Allergy shots can significantly reduce symptoms and improve quality of life over time.”

In addition to allergy care, he also performs minimally invasive, officebased procedures designed to improve nasal breathing and address chronic sinus issues. He offers an innovative, in-office treatment for patients who suffer from persistent runny nose symptoms, which he describes as “an innovative, in-office treatment that can offer lasting relief.”

Dr. Freedman sees patients across the age spectrum—from young children experiencing ear infections or tonsil problems to older adults managing hearing loss, balance issues, or chronic ENT concerns. “No matter the age or concern, my goal is always the same: to help each patient feel heard, understood, and well cared for,” he says. His practice works closely with hospital systems including Corewell Health and Henry Ford Health, ensuring patients have access to coordinated care when specialized serv-

He supports initiatives like Baby Beats, a program for childhood heart conditions. “By contributing to this cause, I hope to help improve the lives of children facing heart challenges and support the research and resources needed to provide them with better care,” he says. Giving back to the community is an important part of his practice and personal commitment to making a positive impact beyond the clinic walls.

Dr. Freedman considers himself an “old-school doctor,” believing strongly in the value of direct doctor-patient interaction. “The face-to-face doctorpatient relationship is the cornerstone of effective care,” he asserts. His approach is always guided by what is in the best interest of his patients. “I find deep personal gratification in helping people feel better–physically, emotionally, and overall.” He adds, “Each day, I remind my patients that they don’t have to continue living with the discomfort they’ve grown used to–especially when it comes to sinus and allergy issues. With the right diagnosis and treatment plan, they can feel significantly better and truly enjoy a better quality of life.”

Today, stem cells are more important than ever. Often referred to as the body’s master repair system, stem cells play a vital role in healing, repair, and cellular renewal at the most foundational level.

Silvia C` , Master Certified Health Coach and Grosse Ile native, is a passionate advocate for stem cell regeneration. Through her business, Wellness Rising, she is helping transform lives with the LifeWave X39 stem cell activation patch–a cutting-edge, noninvasive technology designed to support the body’s natural ability to heal from within.

What Is LifeWave X39?

LifeWave X39 is a wearable patch that uses photobiomodulation–a process similar to how the body produces vitamin D from sunlight–to activate the GHK-Cu copper peptide. This peptide plays a key role in stimulating dormant stem cells, which can lead to improvements in overall health, wellness, and aging.

“X39 is a patch you wear on the body that activates a peptide with incredible regenerative properties,” Silvia explained. “It turns on stem cells that have gone dormant as we age.”

THE X39 POTENTIAL BENEFITS

• Activates stem cells systemically

• Reduces inflammation, stiff joints and pain

• Improves muscle and bone density

• Supports cardiovascular and neurological health

• Improves collagen and elastin production

• Eases anxiety and aggression

• Helps improve strength and stamina

• Supports reduced recovery time, more restful sleep, balanced emotions

• Improves hormone balance, wound healing, scar tissue remodeling

• Promotes healthy stress response

• Improves memory and mental clarity

WHY STEM CELL SUPPORT MATTERS

Stem cell activity naturally declines with age. By our 30s, activity decreases by about 60%. By age 50, it drops to less than 25%, and by 60, it falls below 10%. This decline

Non-invasive patch uses photobiomodulation to boost cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness

Counts Faith-Led. Purpose-Driven.

leads to slower healing, reduced energy, more visible signs of aging, and deterioration of tissue and organ function.

“By reactivating dormant stem cells, LifeWave becomes one of the most powerful tools for regeneration, age reversal, and fullbody healing,” said Silvia. “It’s widely accepted by Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, and Naturopathic Doctors in practices nationwide already. I truly believe these stem cell activation patches are going to change how humanity heals. Finally.”

REAL RESULTS, REAL LIVES CHANGED

Silvia shared the story of her mother’s best friend, who was scheduled for double knee replacement surgery due to severe arthritis pain.

“Within weeks of wearing the patch, she was pain-free and even canceled the consultation for surgery,” Silvia said.

While some people notice results in days, others may not feel a difference right away. But that doesn’t mean the patch isn’t working.

“At the cellular level, it begins reactivating your body’s own repair system–resetting DNA and addressing the most urgent damage first,” Silvia explained. “You might start using the patch for joint pain, but if there’s silent liver degeneration or another deeper issue, your body will prioritize healing that first. Just because you don’t feel relief right away doesn’t mean it’s not working–it means it’s working where it’s needed most, often in places you can’t see or feel yet. And the truth is, the longer the damage has been there, the longer it can take to repair. A good rule of thumb: for every decade of life, give it at least a month to begin reversing years of cellular wear and tear. Healing takes time–but it’s happening.”

HOW IT WORKS

The LifeWave patches are non-transdermal, meaning nothing is absorbed into the body. Instead, the patch contains organic nanocrystals that reflect your body’s natural infrared light. This light activates the GHKCu peptide through specific wavelengths, stimulating cellular pathways.

The LifeWave patches are non-transdermal, meaning nothing is absorbed into the body. Instead, the patch contains organic nano-

crystals that reflect your body’s natural infrared light. This light activates the GHKCu peptide through specific wavelengths, stimulating cellular pathways.

“It’s the same principle as going outside and making vitamin D,” Silvia explained. “In over 20 years in pharmaceutical sales, I’ve never seen anything with zero contraindications or adverse events–but this does. It’s a non-transdermal patch, meaning nothing is being injected into the body. You’re just activating your body’s own cellular pathways by the different wavelengths of light being reflected back into the body from the crystals in the patch.”

IMPORTANT USAGE TIPS

For best results, Silvia emphasizes that proper hydration is essential. “The only real ‘requirement’ for the patch to work is staying well-hydrated–which doesn’t surprise me, because hydration is the foundation of healing,” she said. “Our bodies are about 70% water, and studies have shown a clear link between dehydration and accelerated aging. The evidence-based recommendation is to drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day to support optimal cellular function.”

The patch is simple to use: peel, place, and go. Wear it for 12 hours on, then 12 hours off. Clinical trials placed the patch on the back of the neck or just below the belly button, but it can be worn in various locations.

TRY IT OR SHARE

Those interested in trying the LifeWave X39 patch can start with a monthly subscription for just $99, or purchase a single pack for $149.95. For those who want to both experience the benefits and share the technology with others, joining as a Brand Partner is an option–starting at $295 and going up to $1,700, depending on the package you choose. ◆

“ My Dad was lying there for 23 hours, we had no idea”

The simple solution built by CoreNet Solutions , Founder and CEO, Cullen Canejo, to ensure it never happens again

By Joe Canejo, Cullen’s father, as told to DailySafe for Profile Magazine

We thought we had everything under control. My dad had heart problems. My mom was living with dementia. They wanted to stay in their home, surrounded by the memories and comfort they loved. My sister and I wanted to honor that wish. So, we set up cameras in key spots around the house and arranged for in-home care helpers to check in regularly helping with meals, medications, and light housekeeping. We could peek in remotely, and it felt like a good balance between keeping them safe and letting them keep their independence. Everything seemed fine... until it wasn’t.

DAILYSAFE

Simple  service that  offers daily  check-  ins and  notifies all  emergency  contacts via  SMS when  needed.

One afternoon, I checked the cameras and saw mom sitting quietly at the dining room table. The bathroom door was closed, the light on. I figured dad was inside. Hours later, the bedroom light was on, and the door was open. I thought he was just resting. These were normal, everyday scenes. Nothing seemed out of place.

But what I didn’t know, what I couldn’t see, was that dad had fallen while checking or locking the back door after the helper left. He was stuck on the landing next to that door, alone, for 23 hours. That part of the house wasn’t covered by any cameras, so no one knew he was missing just by looking.

MY

MOM COULDN’T CALL FOR HELP

For some reason, I decided to bring groceries a day early. I called ahead and asked mom to unlock the back door. She answered clearly but strangely, “You’ll need to use the front door.” That set off alarms, we never used the front door. I asked why, and she said something that stopped me cold: “Your dad is lying by the back door. He can’t get up.”

I rushed over. There he was–on the landing by the back door, where he’d fallen. It was late fall in Michigan, and even though he was inside, the cold had crept in. The draft from the door and the hard floor left him freezing after nearly a full day lying there.

He was disoriented, in pain, and exhausted but alive.

He couldn’t reach his cellphone or the home phone, he would have had to ask Mom to bring it to him. And for some reason, neither of them called 911 or reached out to us. The cameras showed activity, doors opening and closing but none of them told the real story: dad was on the floor, unable to move, and no one had called for help.

I tried to lift him but couldn’t. We had to call EMS.

That day shook me to my core. It wasn’t just about a fall, it was about how easily something so critical can slip through the cracks, even when you think you’re watching closely.

WE NEEDED SOMETHING MORE — SO WE BUILT IT

That’s when my son and I started talking. Cameras weren’t enough. We didn’t want to just watch our parents like security footage. We wanted a real way to know they were okay.

That’s how DailySafe was born.

WHAT IS DAILYSAFE?

DailySafe is a simple, phone-based checkin system. No apps. No internet. No smartphones needed. Just one quick call a day.

Here’s how it works:

• Each day, your loved one calls a dedicated number and presses:

1 “I’m okay”

2 “I need non-emergency help”

3 “I need emergency help”

If they forget to call, DailySafe calls them during the last 10 minutes of their check-in window as a gentle reminder.

No matter whether they press 1, 2, 3, or don’t answer at all. DailySafe immediately notifies all emergency contacts via SMS.

Emergency contacts receive the check-in alerts via text, and they can reply with:

• Each day, your loved one calls a dedicated number and presses:

REPLY 1 “I’ll check in”

REPLY 2 “I can’t right now”

When someone replies that message is sent to all the other emergency contacts too.

This way, everyone knows who’s stepping up to check in and who might need a hand reaching out. It keeps the whole family or care team connected and coordinated, like a digital safety net without taking away anyone’s independence.

BECAUSE SAFETY SHOULD BE SIMPLE

My dad didn’t need cameras to watch him. He needed a way for us to know if something was wrong. Mom couldn’t call for help, but if we’d known Dad hadn’t checked in, we could’ve been there hours earlier.

DailySafe exists because of that day. Because no one should spend a full day on the floor without someone checking in. Because even when everything’s fine, families want peace of mind. And because the people we love most often won’t ask for help, even when they need it.

If we had waited until our usual day to bring groceries, Dad might not have made it. The cold, the strain, the hours on the floor, it all took a toll. That day sped up his passing. And that’s something we carry with us every day.

IF THIS STORY FEELS FAMILIAR, YOU’RE NOT ALONE

“Our mission with DailySafe is to make safety accessible, especially for seniors who may not be comfortable with smartphones or apps,” said Cullen Canejo, Founder and CEO of CoreNet Solutions. “It’s a nofriction solution that just works, using the technology most seniors already rely on: a phone.”

And if you want something that just works. Something your parents will use –DailySafe is for you.

The best part? It’s just $5 a month. Or $10 a month if you want two separate checkin windows each day. “DailySafe – Because safety should be simple.” ◆

CANNABIS & HEMP

A New Era of Wellness for Seniors

In recent years, one group has quietly become one of the fastest-growing populations of cannabis and hemp users: seniors. More adults over the age of 55 are exploring cannabis than ever before, not as a way to “get high,” but as a tool for improved health, comfort, and quality of life.

SENIORS TURNING TO CANNABIS & HEMP

Aging can bring challenges–aches and pains, sleep difficulties, stress, and sometimes even feelings of isolation. Many seniors are seeking natural solutions that don’t carry the same side effects or risks as some traditional medications. Cannabis and hemp products offer options to:

• Reduce chronic pain and inflammation from conditions like arthritis, neuropathy, or past injuries.

• Improve sleep quality making it easier to fall and stay asleep.

• Ease anxiety and stress supporting emotional wellness.

• Support healthy appetite and digestion which can decline with age or during certain treatments.

For many, these products are helping reduce dependence on prescription medications that may have unpleasant or dangerous side effects.

BREAKING THE STIGMA

Seniors today grew up during times when cannabis was often misunderstood or stigmatized. That old narra-

tive is changing. With the legalization of cannabis in many states and the growing availability of hemp-derived products, seniors are finding safe, labtested, and precisely dosed options. This is not about the stereotypes of the past–it’s about wellness and empowerment.
