-Hello?- he called, but no one answered.

He opened the door. The hallway was empty. He went back to bed, but the knocking returned, louder this time, more desperate. Benja jumped up and opened the door again. Still, no one.

He decided to go downstairs and talk to the innkeeper, but the lobby was empty. The front door was locked from the inside. The guestbook lay open on the counter. Benja looked down and saw only one name written in the book — his own.

Beneath his name, someone had scribbled in red ink: “The Last Guest Never Leaves.”

Suddenly, the lights went out. Benja turned around and saw a shadow standing at the top of the stairs.

The next morning, Room 6 was empty. The key lay on the bed. The guestbook stayed open — waiting for the next name.
