The 10th graders in Emily Meislerâs American Literature course have chosen one of three August Wilson plays and arrive at class ready for a discussion. But when they take their seats around the classroomâs Harkness table one Tuesday morning, itâs clear their teacher has no intention of parsing the playsâ central themes or deconstructing scenes in a standard classroom lecture.
