Call to Worship Give thanks to the Lord! Call upon God’s name! We are here to sing praises to God, to tell of God’s wonderful love. Glory to God! Let all of our hearts rejoice in God’s presence. We come with joy, seeking God’s loving presence. Together, we remember, we praise, we rejoice!

Hymn

Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

UMH #127

God of mystery, God of life and of death, trusting you is so difficult for us humans. We know you love us. We know you are merciful. We know you are gracious. We know that you are always with us. And yet, our actions don’t always match up with what we know. We find it much easier to trust ourselves or our institutions. We find it easier to believe that we must earn your love, than to believe you simply love us. We find it easier to believe what the world says about us than that you delight in us and call us beloved. We find it easier to avoid what we fear, rather than trusting that you are present therein. Forgive us and help us, holy one.

silence for prayer

If God is for us, who is against us? Nothing we can do can separate us from the love of God in Jesus. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God! Alleluia! Amen.

TO RESPOND IN FAITH

God never forgets God’s promises; God’s covenant is everlasting, from generation to generation. Because of God’s faithful embrace, we are able to examine our hearts and our lives. We are free to speak the truth of what we discover within. We join our hearts and voices now as we confess.

Prayers of the People The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come; your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen Offertory
