Facilities Manager Important Information for Hourly & Tipped Team Members-The OBBB Act & You

With the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act last year, team members who earned overtime wages and/or tips may be eligible to deduct these earnings for the 2025 tax year.

Two new earnings codes have been created to report qualified overtime wages and tips, which can be found in Box 14 of your W-2. Tips:

The maximum allowable deduction is $25,000, which will be listed as OB3QTIPS in Box 14.

Overtime:

The maximum deduction is $12,500 for single filers and $25,000 for those married filing jointly. This will also be listed in Box 14 as OB3QOT.

Please note that the overtime deduction applies only to the premium portion (the “half” in “time and a half”). The amount shown on your W-2 already reflects this calculation no additional math required!

The numbers presented in Box 14 have been calculated retroactively and include all earnings from January 1-December 31. It is important to note that you do not need to itemize your deductions to take advantage of these deductions.

HOSPITALITY HOT TAKES

Good service is executing the fundamentals: a friendly and professional attitude, attention to detail and high standards, good communication and, of course, hard work. Great service encompasses all of those elements, but it goes that much farther by knowing what the customer is going to want or need almost before they do. It includes all the essentials, but it has that special touch that puts it above the rest. It isn’t grand or flashy, but brilliant in its simplicity and intuition.

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS MONTH’S NEWSLETTER! YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS MATTER. IF YOU HAVE FEEDBACK, SUGGESTIONS, OR TOPICS YOU’D LIKE TO SEE COVERED, PLEASE SEND THEM TO ME AT AHUDGINS@PRINCESSANNECC.COM.
