Welcome
Wishing you a very warm welcome to the 2025/26 Primrose Impact Report.
By way of introduction, I’m new to Primrose Hospice, starting in May 2026 and followed shortly after by our new Chief Operating Officer, Amy Percival, a significant change at the helm of the Hospice.
A huge thank you is very much to order to Angélique Dalton, who after occupying both roles and almost nine years’ service gave a great handover and is now taking welldeserved semi-retirement.
The last year at Primrose has been full of change and challenges and like most charities, Primrose is constantly changing and adapting to the struggles of the current financial and political climate and ever-increasing demand for our very special clinical care and support services.
However, one constant has remained at Primrose; the charity’s commitment and dedication to our patients and their families.

About us
At Primrose Hospice and Family Support Centre, we are privileged to support patients with lifelimiting illnesses and families experiencing bereavement, providing care when it is needed most.
We offer a range of services including Day Hospice, Clinical Nurse Specialist support, Physiotherapy, Family Support, Counselling and a Living Well Service.
Our Clinical Team cares for patients with illnesses such as heart failure, lung disease, cancer and neurological illnesses Support is patient-centred, focusing on symptom management, informed decision-making and maintaining independence, with the aim of improving quality of life.
Our Family Support and Living Well Team provides one-to-one and group support for all ages, including bereavement support They offer practical help, guidance and an empathetic ear, supporting families through the challenges they face.
Our children’s team, help young people find safe and creative ways to express their eelings both before and after bereavement.

Denise, our wonderful cook, prepared around 900 meals for our patients
After being diagnosed with cancerous tumours, Steve was introduced to Primrose, where support from the team helped him achieve his goal of walking his daughter down the aisle and dancing with her at her wedding.
Wanting to give back, Steve and his daughter Kirsty later raised £610 for Primrose through an art challenge.

“Smoothing the road through grief” – Jack’s Story
After Jack’s wife Amara was diagnosed with incurable cancer, Jack said he “needed support so that I could support my wife and my children.” Primrose provided vital help for both Amara and their daughters, offering activities and guidance that helped the girls understand what was happening and build emotional resilience.
Jack shared that our support “helps to smooth that road” by filling gaps left by standard healthcare.
Even after Amara’s death, Primrose continued to guide Jack and his daughters, with grief counselling becoming “the best thing I ever did” to help him cope and remain strong for his family.
Making every moment count
As well as providing practical support, our teams prioritise time to provide trips, visitors and special occasions for our patients and families. They aim to provide opportunities to make new memories and improve quality of life.
AN AWARD-WINNING HOSPICE
We are so proud that in September 2025 Primrose Hospice was successful at the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards. We were honoured to walk away with two awards:

These awards recognise the outstanding contributions of Primrose Hospice’s dedicated team in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to adults, children, adolescents and the wider community

Primrose Hospice is an independent charity and relies heavily on support from the local community. We have to raise £1.95 million each year to continue to provide our services to care for our patients and families.

Donations increased significantly during the year, supported by new partnerships with
Redditch and Hanbury recycling centres.
These partnerships have enabled us to collect more pre-loved items and extend our reach within the local community

St Godwald’s retreat
In late 2024, Marc and Darryl from F.B & Sons Lawns & Landscapes approached us about being involved in an exciting garden design for the RHS Malvern Spring Festival. Following the show, they hoped to donate the garden to a place where it could continue to be enjoyed and we were delighted to say yes
This led to our involvement in the RHS Malvern Spring Festival Show Garden, before the garden was relocated to Primrose Hospice in summer 2025.
Officially opened in October 2025, it is now enjoyed by many patients and families.
Designed as a mindful retreat, the garden offers a space for reflection, peace and connection, inspired by the landscapes around Primrose Hospice and the historic life of St Godwald.

April 2025 - the Malvern show garden build begun. May 2025 - the show opens, the team won a bronze award and we spoke to over 4,000 people across 4 days!
Summer 2025 - relocation of the garden begins.
We all got stuck in including our explorations group!
September 2025 - We were visited by BBC HW radio and BBC Midlands today!
12th October 2025St Godwald’s Retreat was officially opened
The garden is now open for all visitors at any time of the year.
