Diana Monterrubio

An Influential Leader, Spearheading Teleperformance to Revolutionize the Procurement Industry

Value chains are changing quickly, making procurement experts more crucial than ever to business goals. Challenges are being brought on by both significantly different modes of working and commodity instability.

One of the renowned procurement leaders, Diana Monterrubio, Procurement Global Strategic Director at Teleperformance, has gained noteworthy experience in procurement. She oversees global negotiations for all Teleperformance Regions as well as worldwide procurement standards for Hardware and some types of Software.

Diana is dedicated to educating herself and representing her gender within the technology business to empower women and shape future trends. She is driven to make sure that people don't feel excluded and that they feel safe finding their place in the world.

Diana has been with Teleperformance for 12 years and has witnessed it not just expand greatly but also advance technologically. As she frequently points out, innovation is a crucial component. Teleperformance has never shied away from a difficult task.

Diana started working as a telephonic agent at Teleperformance, which she did when she was ready to graduate from college. This

inspirational woman then made her way to recruitment and, eventually, procurement for Mexico, where she rose through the ranks to now work for 90 countries where Teleperformance has presence. There have been 12 incredible years.

"Working in procurement keeps you constantly alert. Every day is different; therefore, as the needs of the business develop, so do the needs of the customers. Because of this, buyers can be excellent problem-solvers who are also conscious of the need to constantly be on the lookout for a favorable deal", according to Diana.

A Glance at Teleperformance

A worldwide leader in outsourced omnichannel customer experience management!

Teleperformance offers back-office processing, Interpretation and translation, and visa and consulate services, among others, in a multilingual environment. To assist the finest brands around the globe in simplifying their businesses in significant and long-lasting ways, they provide the most cutting-edge, digitally-driven business services.

It keeps changing daily! Logistics, intercoms, taxes, AI, and services as a cloud. Last year, we were not even talking about AI, and now it is all we are seeing. The market is changing fast, so companies need to keep up with it. Though Diana does not venture a scenario for the next five years, she sincerely hopes that all efforts are directed toward sustainability. Sustainable procurement has the potential to improve things, for our world and for the entire way we se hardware purchases.

Overcoming the Hurdles Along the Way

Success seems to be something that changes according to everyone’s own definition. For Diana, success is not linear; it is a bumpy ride, and it is also a cycle; what might have felt like success a year ago could feel like a bad decision now. She does believe that the obstacle to enjoying triumphs sometimes might be ourselves and our constructed ideas to be perfect, as we are not perfect, all we can aim to be is good leaders, aware of our flaws and our team’s.

"Just as our perception of success has changed as a result of what we can see on social media and compare to our own lives, so too has our perception of reality. Today, I believe that maintaining my composure during a challenging day and doing my best to lead effectively is both a true triumph and a daily struggle. Even if not every day will be pleasant, this is how we grow, this is how we learn. The leading woman continues.

Teleperformance’s Key Focus: Team Work

Diana believes in teamwork! She asserts that while precise guidelines and quantifiable goals are essential for effective teamwork, the human element must take precedence. Recognizing that everyone has a rich past is a valuable exercise in empathy, one that may not be simple but that improves us as individuals and, consequently, as leaders and the world desperately needs leaders, not bosses.

From the Leader’s Desk

Helpful Sources: LinkedIn is a great asset to have. Social media is a powerful tool for communication

and information sharing. I frequently read the books and articles that my colleagues recommend, and I also have a few favorite authors about marketplaces. However, what really matters is that we make sure we know what information will enable us to secure the best partnerships. Without our own opinions and knowledge, reading for the sake of reading won't take us very far.

The Impact of COVID: The world changed in 2020, and it has continued to evolve. The effects of COVID-19 strengthened us and significantly improved our knowledge of remote working, VDI technology, and logistics.

Significance of R&D: Our processes and services are always evolving, so I believe R&D is a major key factor when discussing the growth that Teleperformance has had over the last few years. Innovation might be the new name of the game.

A Prosperous Roadmap

"I am enjoying the ride, which is important for me", Diana said. It was a challenging beginning for her because she started her global role just as COVID hit, but it really taught her a lot. Since Diana is an expert in the tech sector and procurement, she would like to continue developing this community. She wants to continue working on that because the atmosphere has never been this open and honest about vulnerability and empathy. Additionally, she enjoys being impressed by innovation and technology, so she plans to continue writing about those topics.

Message for the Readers

I sometimes find myself anxious about the future, so I do a little exercise and remember my 18-year-old self and my 25-year-old self. All those versions of me were reluctant to believe that things would work out; they wanted them to, but it was also frightening. However, if right now I could go back in time, I would tell them that it does all, in fact, work out, so now I just think that if I believe in what I am doing, I will be fine. That is the best and simplest advice I can give: believe in yourself; you’ve got this.

What is Procurement?

Procurement is the process of acquiring goods and services for business purposes. It involves strategic steps to meet a company’s needs beyond simple purchases. Procurement aims to find cost-effective supplies that provide the most value to the company. Businesses acquire essential supplies, raw materials, equipment, and services for smooth operations. Procurement involves various activities to obtain goods or services, not just a single task.

Some companies narrowly define Procurement, focusing on purchase orders and payments. Others have a broader approach involving business requirements, sourcing suppliers, tracking goods receipts, and record-keeping.

Procurement for Business Growth:

In today’s competitive business world, Procurement is a critical driver of operational efficiency, supply chain management, and cost-effectiveness. By investing in the procurement process and making informed decisions, businesses can secure the right goods and services at optimal prices, leading to business growth and success.

The Importance of Procurement in Business:

Efficient and well-managed Procurement is a crucial business function that can significantly increase a company’s profitability. Procurement is critical to understanding and optimizing supply chains by identifying reliable, competitively priced suppliers that meet the company’s needs. The procurement process helps companies make informed decisions and avoid inadequate suppliers, saving valuable time, money, and resources, regardless of their needs for raw materials, marketing services, or office supplies.

While minimizing costs is vital in effective Procurement, finding suppliers with the required quality and a proven track record of reliable delivery is equally crucial. A robust procurement process helps companies build lasting relationships with suppliers who meet their business requirements.

THE STRATEGIC ROLE POWERING BUSINESS GROWTH

The Procurement Process:

Procurement is a well-planned and executed process that starts with identifying the goods or services needed by the company. Once needs are established, a purchase request is made, and quotes from multiple suppliers are sought. The procurement process involves price negotiation, contract finalization with the selected vendor, issuing a purchase order, receiving the shipment, and completing the payment.

Different Types of Procurement:

Procurement has various forms, depending on the goods or services being acquired.

OF PROCUREMENT

GROWTH AND EFFICIENCY

Direct Procurement: Direct Procurement involves acquiring goods and services directly related to the production process, such as raw materials, machinery, and components, which have a significant impact on the final product or service.

Indirect Procurement: Indirect Procurement involves acquiring goods and services that support the operational needs of a business, including items like office equipment, marketing materials, and furnishings.

Goods Procurement: Goods procurement primarily involves acquiring tangible items, such as physical products and software subscriptions. This process heavily relies on huge supply chain management to ensure efficiency, encompassing both direct and indirect Procurement.

Services Procurement: Services procurement centers on obtaining services provided by individuals or service-based entities. Companies utilize services procurement to hire individual contractors, contingent labor, legal firms, or on-site security services. This category may encompass both direct and indirect procurement approaches.

The Strategic Role of Procurement in Modern Business: Maximizing Efficiency and Impact

Procurement is an ancient practice evolving with commerce and remains crucial in modern business. Although ancient methods are gone, the sophisticated process of selecting and obtaining goods and services to support daily business operations remains. Today, Procurement plays a strategic role in obtaining necessary supplies at the best value, directly impacting a company’s bottom line and overall success.

Procurement and Accounting:

Procurement costs are crucial in a company’s financial accounting, directly impacting revenue goals. Larger organizations appoint a Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to oversee procurement standards, collaborate with procurement teams, and ensure efficient payment processing with accounts payable.

The Evolving Role of Technology:

In modern business, technology streamlines procurement processes. Automation and digital platforms reduce administrative overheads and costs by efficiently tracking and managing Procurement. Real-time data and analytics enable data-driven decisions, smarter supplier selection, and contract negotiation.

In conclusion, Procurement is essential for business success, involving acquiring goods and services strategically to boost efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
