I would like to welcome you to the 2020 Riverstone Bull Sale. This is our 5th Annual Sale in Olds since our departure from the Highwood Auction Market days. It is amazing how fast time flies, it seems like yesterday when we held our first sale under the Riverstone name. Every year I talk about the challenges that we face as ranchers, especially due to weather and unfortunately this year is no different. From the extremely wet summer/fall that led to many crops not yet harvested, to the extreme cold temperatures in January; once again I applaud all ranchers and farmers for preserving in this business and lifestyle.
I am excited about this years bull offering. We have been focusing on using more of the top AI sires as well as our tried and true walking herdsires. Once again we are offering bulls from three breeds that all compliment each other. We strive for easy calving bulls that will put some pounds on your calves at the end of the day. We also concentrate on the maternal side of things immensely. The genetics that we use will benefit you, the consumer, immediately and in the future.
The spring calves were born in January, February and March and the long yearlings generally calve in September and October. The fall calves are weaned in May and put back on grass. They are brought back in to be put on feed in September when the spring calves are weaned. The bulls are once again fed home raised silage and a free choice pelleted ration from our new supplier Bullseye Feeds.
A big thank you to all those who help and encourage us throughout the entire year. For the most part Kim and I are a two man show around here so the help we receive from our good friend Kendall and our extended family is priceless. Because there are only two of us that run the operation we know how important it is to have low maintainance, high performing cattle that do the lions’s share of the work. We strive to have cattle that feed, calve and perform on their own. We also want to thank all of our past bull sale customers and appreciate their support from sale to sale.
Due to the recent restrictions that have been put in place by the Alberta Government regarding the COVID-19 virus we are no longer able to host our sale at the Olds Cow Palace. We have made the decision to host the sale at the ranch this year. Although sale day, at this time, is past the mandatory two week insolation, we are still taking the health and safety of our buyers and bidders very seriously and have implemented some new strategies in doing so. The bull offering will be available for a “come & go as you please open house” bull viewing on March 29th. Bulls will be pened and will be available from 12 noon until 5pm if you choose to not attend the sale and prefer to bid via phone or internet on sale day but still would like to view the bulls live.

If you choose to attend the sale and bid on site, we welcome you to do so and are being very diligent in making it the healthiest and safest environment possible. Seating will not be close bleacher seating but larger round tables. All food will be pre-wrapped and unexposed to the public. Disinfectants and sanitizers will be available also on site.
We are once again welcoming the DLMS marketing team who will assist us in internet bidding and viewing of the sale at DLMS.ca. If you are unable to attend the sale, bid online or would just like to visit about our offering, please feel free to give me or one of the sale representatives a call. We would be happy to assist you in choosing a bull that fits your needs in the utmost professional way.
Sincerely,

SIRE GROUP
SAV Sensation was the high-selling lot of the 2016 Schaff Angus Valley Sale. He is a full brother to the $235,000 SAV Seedstock. His mother, SAV Blackcap May 4136, is the No.1 income producing cow in SAV history. She has generated over $4,000,000 in progeny sales to date.

BROOKING
BANK NOTE 4040
SIRE GROUP
Brooking Bank Note is cutting a huge swath through the Angus world and has been admired by many who have seen him. He is deep ribbed, heavy muscled, masculine, proud fronted and has ideal hoof shape. He is breeding the same kind through his progeny.

RENEGADE 83G

SIRE GROUP
Our Riverstone 69C herdsire brings it all to the table... the basics of efficiency and natural fleshing ability, with thickness, muscle, masculinity, superb structure, feet quality and authentic breed character. He is out of a SAV Pioneer female that is an outstanding member of the Blackbird cow family that never disappoints.

MAY-WAY BREAKOUT
SIRE GROUP
Breakout was one of the most talked about bulls in 2015 when he won the RBC Beef Supreme Challenge over all breeds at Agribition. He stamps a solid pattern to his calves and their performance is second to none. He really hit a home run last spring when he sired HF Alcatraz 60F, who went on to sell for the record breaking sale of $200,000 for an Angus bull in Canada.

IMPACT 2G

COLBURN PRIMO 5153
SIRE GROUP
He is the awesome popular sire raised by Colburn Cattle Co. that has taken the Angus business by storm. He’s a product of one of Silveiras Style’s most decorated daughters and the amazing Dameron First Class! First Class semen has consistently set records at $15,000/dose and Primo is arguably his best son to date. His bottom side is a stacked pedigree that goes back to the great Saras Dream. Primo’s full sisters were some of the most dominating show heifers on the circuit.
As you can see we used Primo heavily as an A.I. sire last year, as this is our largest sire group in the sale. You will notice that he throws birth weights ranging from 80 - 98 lbs but calving is never an issue with the beautifully made heads and front ends he stamps on his progeny.

HIGHLAND
Several years ago while we were hosting our annual bull sales down at the Highwood Auction Market and before the days of video sales the crew that had previously handled the bulls out back were unable to attend the sale. We were in a panic, who could we find on such short notice? Kim had grown up in the High River area simply said “Lets call Johnny”. John was a long time true friend and who else could handle a pen of bulls, better than a retired professional bull rider? One quick phone call and it was taken care of. Not only did he and his family show up he rallied about 10 of our closest friends in the area and they all ap- peared on sale day with smiles on their faces and a few cases of beer in their hands.
John was always in charge of what is known as the “suicide gate” by the auction market staff. He was given the job of pushing the bulls from the outside pen into the auction ring and his calm, relaxed demeanor showed when the bulls entered to be sold. We only ever had to make that phone call once... every year after that, we got the call from Johnny confirming the date and that he would not miss it. Most people would be happy to lose a phys- ically demanding job that only paid in gratitude and laughter but Johnny was really disappointed when we moved to a video sale in Olds. This true and loyal friend was diagnosed last spring with pancreatic cancer and lost his battle last De- cember at the age of 51. We will miss him dearly and continue to support our friend and his wife, Andrea and their three daughters Kalyn, Keeley and True.
FOR OUR 2020 BULL SALE, WE SALUTE YOU, JOHN GLOVER! JUST ONE LAST TIME... “CRACK THE GATE AND BRING US ANOTHER BULL JOHNNY”

Riverstone Dizzy is a walking herdsire at Riverstone with his first calves hitting the ground in 2018. There is so much that we love about this calf from his massive bone, overall thickness and tremendous hair coat, then add in his most docile disposition, this is a bull that will be a very relevant part of the Riverstone herd. His dam, HSF Lizzy, goes back to one of the most celebrated females in the breed. TMF Too Much Fun cow was a many time champion female and produces top progeny at Greenwood.

He is a sire that flat out gets it done in a calving ease package (top 1% for HCE, CCE & MCE) that doesn’t sacrifice performance.
