Welcome everyone to our 2023 Riverstone Bull Sale that will be held once again online. Another trip around the sun has come and gone and here we are ready for breeding decisions and plans. I hope everyone is having a successful calving season as the weather so far has been cooperating beautifully. Hopefully it continues for the next few months for the later spring calving operations and early breeding programs.
A new year always brings new challenges and new success. This past January we were fortunate to have raised the Reserve Champion Angus Bull at the Denver Stock Show, known as one of the biggest shows in all of North America. Riverstone Vegas 49H was sold out of this very sale in 2021, and although we have taken a step back from showing cattle ourselves, we are proud that our genetics can still go out and win banners and have show ring success for our customers. We are very excited that Riverstone Vegas 49H will be showing up in catalogs throughout the industry. We offer bulls every year that will have success in ring, or more importantly in herds nationally and internationally. Our feature bull this year is a Vegas son and is Lot 1. We also kept and used a full brother that is known as Roadhouse and has sons in the sale. We have many more outstanding calves on the ground his year that will be featured next year.
We would not have traded this beautiful winter for anything, however it does come with some downfalls. With this mild weather comes softer ground and more tag on the bulls. We are pretty low key when it comes to picturing our bulls as it is only three of us, no chute crew and no extra fluff and puff. They may not look like show bulls in the catalog, but that doesn’t mean they cannot become one.

eral outstanding AI sires that will be prominent in this years offering. We used these breed leading sires on cows sired by Banknote, Cowboy Up, Colossal, Breakout, Emblem, Bando and Bloodline. For heifers and easy calving we used One Nation, Grazer, Rainfall and Silverstar. With that said, we are offering several sons out of our home raised bulls that also meet today’s breeding requirements. With our extensive AI program that we use, along with our home raised bulls, some with different pedigrees, to keep up with the industry ever evolving standards.
All of the bulls are fed with a free choice pelleted ration from Bullseye Feeds, along with a high protein hay and silage. This grows out the bulls at an acceptable rate without burning them out. Prior to the sale all bulls will be semen tested and veterinary inspected and will have passed the examinations before the new owners take possession
Videos will be available on www.dlms.ca as well as www.riverstonecattle.com approximately two weeks prior to the sale. Viewing of the bulls is welcomed anytime prior to the sale. We will once again be hosting and Open House on Saturday, March 25, from noon to 5pm with refreshments and snacks. BOARD ON SALE BULLS
We can keep the bulls until delivery. We would like all bulls picked up or delivered by May 1 unless previous arrangements have been made. These bulls must be insured.
BULL BREEDING GUARANTEE
All bulls will be semen tested and veterinary inspected prior to the sale.

US buyers can take advantage of the Canadian dollar. $1000 CA = Approx. $800 US. Sale exchange rate will be announced on sale day.
RIGHT TO SEMEN
Riverstone Cattle Co. reserves the right to draw semen on any of the bulls in the offering. Semen will be used for in herd use only and will be drawn at the expense of Riverstone Cattle and at the convenience of the buyer.

2. After you are at the FarmGate Timed auction site - farmgatetimedauctions.ca, click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.
First time FarmGate users:
- First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to sign up for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the FarmGate Time Auction Site requires a new account separate account from your DLMS Live sale site)
- After you create your FarmGate account you will receive a text message with a pin code to verify your account.
- On your first log in to FarmGate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.

3. How to Bid
Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.
- Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.
- Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process.
Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.
4. Watch List Feature
If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.
5. Sale Ending / Closeout
Most FarmGate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.
What is Racehorse Style Close?
Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How will Extended Bidding works?
When we get to the close out end time the clock for close out extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.
6. Bidding Close & Follow-up
After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidder you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.
Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.

He has an absolute standout phenotype and presence, combined with length, volume and shape. Emblem combines the foundation Emblynette cow family with Blackcap May 4136, the most recognizable beef cow in the world.

Brooking Bank Note is cutting a huge swath through the Angus world and has been admired by many who have seen him. He is deep ribbed, heavy muscled, masculine, proud fronted and has ideal hoof shape. He is breeding the same kind through his progeny.

This is an exceptional bull on paper and even more impressive in terms of his phenotype. Wide based, long spined, big bodied, sound made, with excellent feet and legs. Perfect bull to put the punch and power back into your Angus cattle. A breed changer from a growth performance and body mass standpoint.
SIRE OF LOT 39
Silver Star’s progeny are deep ribbed and with added capacity, combined with that he is an excellent double digit calving ease option with added eye appeal and balance. Silver Star is a very strong footed, big structured and sound bull. He’s an outcross pedigree to many of today’s most heavily used sires, however he has excellent genetics and maternal lineage behind him! He is a clean fronted calving ease bull that will sire great looks with performance.

Breakout 1310 was one of the most talked about bulls in 2015, when he won the Royal Bank Beef Supreme Challenge over all breeds at Agribition. The Breakout progeny have both style, performance and a bull that samps a solid pattern to his calves. He has been used extensively in the Hamilton Farms, Six Mile and Popular Meadow programs.

One of the absolute hottest sires in the beef industry! Bravo is a physical and genetic masterpiece that checks all of the boxes. Physically he is tanky, powerful and well balanced; genetically he combines two of the best animals ever raised at Coleman Angus – Charlo and Donna 714. Bravo has one of the most balanced EPD profiles available, being extremely low birth with above average growth.

Bloodline is the next great sire from Schaff Angus Valley and was the $250,000 lead-off and top-selling bull from the 2020 SAV Sale. He takes honors as the most popular and heavily used bull of his calf crop in the Angus breed –on the fast track to stardom. He has awestruck everyone who has seen him with his massive dimension, soundness and herdbull charisma.
SIRE OF LOTS 26, 27 & 43
Riverstone Road House 42H is a full brother to the 2023 Reserve Grand Champion Bull at the National Western, Riverstone Vegas 49H. When we were deciding which of the full brothers to keep for ourselves as a walking bull we chose this bull because of his lighter birth weight that could be used on heifers. Unfortunately we lost this bull to an injury and we only had a handful of semen drawn on him. He is a sire in short supply and we will miss him in our program.
SIRE OF LOTS 20, 21 & 22
Riverstone Peacemaker is a tried and true older walking herdsire in our program. When we first started using him we had him in the heifer pen and was fantastic as a calving ease sire. He has now moved onto the cow pasture due to his overall mass and body and still he continues to work in all situations. His sire goes back to the Miller Wilson sire DMM Creed who has produced some of our best and most powerful females in our program.

Riverstone Vegas has definitely made a name for himself in the past year. Vegas was the high seller in our 2021 bull sale and was purchased by Six Mile Ranch. This bull has since made a massive impact south of the border and is now being used and in part ownership with some of the best breeders in the business. His outcross pedigree makes him a unique peice to alot of popular Angus pedigrees.
SIRE OF LOTS 17, 18 & 19
Riverstone Equity 24H was one of our favorites in the bull pen and ended up being selected in 2019 to be a major walking herdsire for our program. This son of SAV Best Interest is a powerhouse bull with lots of base and tons of bone that set onto a extremely sound foot. His moderate birthweight makes him very versatile and one we can use on cows or heifers.
SIRE OF LOTS 34, 35, 36, 37 & 38
Riverstone Resource 75E is an own son of SAV Resource 1441 and out of one of Riverstones top Angus females. We elected to keep this bull as a walking sire in the Riverstone program because of his impressive mass and smooth frame, with a maternal powerhouse built into his pedigree. This sire puts it all together for us... power and performance in a smooth complete package.
SIRE OF LOTS 29, 30, 31, 32 & 33
One Nation is the impressive President son from the 2020 SAV sale where he was selected for his completeness and built in cow power with calving ease credentials. In the Canadian database, One Nation is in the top 5% for CED and top 10% for BW, making him an obvious choice for the heifer pen but he maintains a YW EPD in the top 6% so you’re not sacrificing any performance on cows.
SIRE OF LOTS 24 & 25
Riverstone Sensation 16H was a bull that we kept for our heifer pen! This herdsire was off the charts in terms of calving ease because of his streamlined makeup and smooth shape and skeleton. When we first used him on first calvers it was to get them out trouble free but wow were we surprised when those calves put on the pounds and had comparable performance with some of our top AI cow bulls. We lost this bull last spring so the progeny from this guys is limited.

This powerhouse bull is extremely smooth and long in his make up without giving up any muscle expression and depth of body.We use this bull on all our fall calvers because of his extreme calving ease. He is out of a 2007 year dam that is a consistent producer that never misses. His sire SAV Resource 1441 is one of the most iconic bulls in the breed.
When we offered Riverstone Vegas for sale in our 2021 Bull Sale we knew he was good.... really good. It has been several years since we have hit the show road, taking out our genetics for display and promotion. Enjoying our kids and their interests while they are still young has taken center stage. We knew when Six Mile Ranch purchased the bull that he would be in a place where he could go on to do great things. The Six Mile crew saw the value in the unique pedigree and the flawless phenotype.
We were excited to hear that Six Mile sold some of their interest and partnered up with some outstanding programs south of the border. That is where this bull writes his own history in popularity and demand in the Angus industry in North America.
