EPD Explanation & Changes to the new CG A National Cattle Evaluation (NCE)
EPDs are “Expected Progeny Differences” They are a useful tool in selection EPDs incorporate the individual animal with its averaged ancestr y per formance
The CGA and the AGA has moved to the American Simmental Association’s NCE this spring below are some of the benefits:
• Higher accuracy WW EPDs due to the addition of historical and future weaning weight records to the NCE analysis by including early weaned data, past, present and future
• Increased EPD accuracies for Percentage Gelbvieh and Balancer animals since the joint analysis with the ASA will include a larger database of Angus (Red & Black) animals
• Higher accuracy values for all traits with the inclusion of genomic data to create genomic-enhanced EPDs (GE-EPDs)
• Standardized carcass EPDs with other beef breeds as carcass data will now be age adjusted instead of fat adjusted
• Higher accuracy marbling EPDs as bull IMF scan data will be included in the calculation of marbling EPDs

He was part of the Championship pen of Three Bulls at the NWSS in Denver as a yearling and we have received many compliments from the people that have seen him He Is Homozygous Polled, boasts a 785lb 205 day weight and an Adj YW of 1339 His Grand Dam is one of the breeds most influential dams and was a huge part of Judd Ranch’s Donor program He has already been taken note of and we believe that he will be a breed changing bull that will have a lasting impact on our herd and the breed with the Bulls and females that he will sire. We have calved out several of his daughters this year and we are ver y pleased and it renews our excitement as we continue to retain females from him in our herd They all have been easy calving and have superb udders!

We believe that he has a ton to offer our program and the breed as a calving ease specialist, ranked in the top1% of the breed for calving ease, yet adding thickness volume, and eye appeal to our cattle He is ver y clean fronted, moderate and ver y stout made packing a ton of beef thru the middle and especially in the hind quarter His dam is one of the top donor females in Judd’s program and we are ver y excited and pleased with the females that Home Brew has given us. His birth to growth spread is ver y impressive with a 77lb birth to 760 205 day W and a1247lb YW, a yr. SC of 42cm and a big time 45 cm mature SC.
JRI Powerstroke is a bull that we purchased from Judd Ranch in the spring of 2014! We purchased this bull to add a touch more frame and power to our cattle to keep up with the demand for High performance bulls that will wean those scalebusting calves in the fall This year is the first offering of his bull calves and I believe that you will be ver y impressed! As an individual he had a 205day weight of 815 and a YW of 1325 along with a yearling scrotal of 43cm and as a mature bull is 46cm!
