I am happy to know the The Lesbian and Gay Community Center of Charlotte is helping to make this opportunity possible for Charlotte’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender citizens along with family and friends. While in Charlotte, I invite each of you to venture out and explore the wonder, the beauty, and the people who make this great city. We are especially proud to be the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Levine Center for the Arts which includes The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Discovery Place, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts +Culture. In addition, the activities available in our vibrant Center City mixes dining, entertainment, and cultural amenities all within walking distance of each other, with additional shopping and entertainment options that are distinctly Charlotte.

Ryan Cassata
Jessica Wild appeared as a cast member in the second season of Logo’s popular “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2010. This year, Wild, in conjunction with DJ Ranny, released her first dance single, “You Like it Wild.” Wild resides in Boston where she continues to perform at gay venues both locally and across the U.S. When not performing, Wild works as a professional make-up artist. Eyes of the Elders Emcees Bearcat and Ricky Radar have offered different versions of Eyes of the Elders (EOE) since the group first started in 2004, but its latest incarnation, backed by drummer Jacob Gresham, guitarist and vocalist Boss Jones and bassist Jason Pentecost has remained intact since 2008. Amps 11 Magazine described them as “some of the dopest hip hop in the southeast,” and Mike Cooper II of “BallerStatus” and “The Hiphop Caucus” fame said that EOE is “the sort of hip hop that you’d think the klingons would be bumping in a future century. . . a noise far ahead of it’s time. Richard Cortez Since founding Wollenberg Records in the fall of 2004, Richard Cortez has been taking the queer music scene by the balls and paving the way for a new anti-folk generation one busted guitar string at at time. Known mostly for his infamous first single, “Craving Something Beautiful,” (or, “the ‘smoking pot and watching cartoons’ song”), which appeared on Cortez’s first full-length studio album, it was clear from the get-go that Richard Cortez was not your average recording artist. Nubia SoulGoddess Nubia has music pouring through her veins. Her instrumental skills stem from her father and singing from her mother. Campus Pride has developed the fairs as a public way for colleges to “come out” and recruit out LGBT students. This collaborative project gives the LGBT community and allies who are artistic or wish to model a chance to work on a collective project, bringing diverse thought together in a creative explosion of idea, color and form. Artist of all mediums and media painters, graphic artists, photographers, videographers and visual artists join in a chance to work together with one goal in common - using the human form as our creative canvas from individuals to groups, useing the human form to interpret social thought, fantasy and color. This union of talent and creative spirit will take us on an exploration, the only limitation will be the boundaries of our imaginations. 25

A sun dog means a little rainbow spot in a cloud, the festival’s Sun Dog City is an area for youth and children that reflects that theme. Sun Dog City can be found right between the Mint Museum and the Bechtler Museums on the Levine Avenue of the Arts. Charlotte’s LGBT community is made up of families and kids … so Pride Charlotte has developed an area that will have games, art projects and lots of fun for all ages. Old fashioned fun with water balloons and mini parades! Everyone will be able to take home something to remember the day when every kid they met was part of a family just like their own.

@ The Festival: Partners in Peace Partners in Peace is a group of Pride Charlotte volunteers who have organized in response to the several organized and very vocal hate groups who protest and picket against the LGBT community. Their favorite target seems to be Pride Charlotte. Over the years we have developed a simple and extremely effective answer to the disturbance they try to create. WE IGNORE THEM! We do not respond to them. We don't look at them or gesture in their direction. We engage with people who come for fun and friendship. We have organized and trained hundreds of volunteers to encourage and gently remind Pride goers why they themselves have come to Pride. We ask Pride participants to ignore the many ways that the protesters try to move them away from the fun and friends they have come out to see. We show them the way to ignore the protesters so that they have the experience they planned on having and avoid any confrontations that would spoil the day. If anyone gets involved with the protesters, look for a yellow vested Partner in Peace to help diffuse any interactions that might threaten to cause emotional upset on a day meant for pride and togetherness.
