“See the children run as the sun goes down, among the fields of gold” - Sting
The past three years have been challenging for everyone, with the global pandemic changing the way we live and work. However, it's inspiring to see how many people and organisations have adapted to the new reality and found creative ways to continue their work and make a positive impact.
In this issue of Pressing:On, we see examples of individuals and organisations who have embraced this philosophy and are making a difference in their communities. Open Table's new 60-second explainer animation is a testament to the creativity and hard work of the team, led by animation specialist Emerson Zandegu with voiceover by Angela O'Toole.
We also see the inspiring work of Different Journeys, who are trailblazing in the Autism space, Victorian Dog Rescue’s fantastic job at the Dog Lovers Show and the Hush Foundation’s Gathering of Kindness. These individuals and organisations are using their obstacles as gateways to new beginnings, and their impact is evident.
The speedy progress of Foodbank's two new regional hubs is another example of how obstacles can be overcome with determination and hard work. These facilities will provide vital support to those in need, and it's heartening to see the charity sector getting back into the swing of things after a challenging period.
The Open Table 'No Waste' cookbook is yet another example of how we can turn challenges into opportunities. This fantastic resource showcases the creativity and resilience of the Open Table team and their dedication to making a difference in their community.
As we move forward into the new year, let's embrace this philosophy and remember that our obstacles can be gateways to new beginnings. Let's stay positive, creative, and resilient, and continue to make a positive impact in our communities.
And, keep an eye open for the children running as the sun goes down, among the fields of gold.
Best Wishes,
Phil Taylor, CEO

Meet Different Journeys: Trailblazers in the Autism Community
Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects individuals in different ways. Every person with Autism faces their own unique journey, and their experiences are as diverse as the spectrum itself.
Pressroom Philanthropy is extremely proud to support Different Journeys - an emerging charity that celebrates Autism through their recognition of this diversity.
Different Journeys hosts various events, including dinners, swim nights and bowls nights that cater to different interests and create a welcoming and inclusive environment for individuals and families touched by Autism.
The charity is run by a passionate group of people who all have lived experience, either as an autistic person themselves or caring for an autistic person. They understand the challenges faced by families in this situation and work tirelessly to create a space where they can have fun, learn important life skills and connect with others facing a similar, yet different journey.
Pressroom Philanthropy are a terrific partner helping us in so many ways.”
- Mel Spencer, Chief Executive Officer.
Different:Journeys 4 | Pressroom Philanthropy Showcase Autumn 2023
Pressroom Philanthropy were delighted to provide Different Journeys with pro bono marketing assistance for a Christmas Gift Wrapping fundraising opportunity at Westfield Knox in December 2022.
The marketing assistance provided by Pressroom included pull-up banners, standing display boards at the gift wrapping station and selected counters of retailers throughout the shopping centre, posters for schools, and gift tags and stickers featuring the message ‘This gift was wrapped with love by an Autistic volunteer.’ These materials were designed to raise awareness of Different Journeys and encourage people to get involved and support the charity.
Christmas was all wrapped up!
Pressroom Philanthropy also created a ‘Guess the Number of Smarties’ competition as a fun and engaging lead capture initiative. People waiting for their gifts to be wrapped could enter the competition for free via an iPad or QR code for their chance to win all the Smarties (as well as a Christmas hamper).
As soon as the online entry form was submitted, the person received an automated email thanking them for visiting the gift wrapping station and included further information about the great work Different Journeys does.
This creative initiative engaged people in a fun and interactive way, while also capturing their information for ongoing follow-up.
Different Journeys adopts a strengths-based approach to each individual and family as we recognise each and every journey with Autism is different. No two journeys are the same because no one individual is the same.

Victorian Dog Rescue (VicDRG) is an amazing, volunteer-led charity that rehomes dogs (and cats) that would not have lived if they’d been left in a pound or shelter.
VicDRG exhibited at the Dog Lovers Show in Melbourne from the 14th to 16th of October 2022 as an opportunity to meet potential rescue dog adopters and foster carers. Pressroom Philanthropy were delighted to provide pro bono marketing assistance to help VicDRG make a memorable impression and attract new leads, merchandise sales and cash donations.
VicDRG’s stall was adorned with pull-up banners, a branded table throw, and A3 standing display boards. An attentiongrabbing lead capture box in the shape of a dog kennel was also implemented, which enticed over 390 new leads to enter a draw to win a PetStock voucher valued at $100. This initiative proved to be an outstanding success as a conversation starter about adopting or fostering rescue dogs.

VicDRG also capitalised on the opportunity to raise funds through merchandise sales, including the popular 2023 edition of the VicDRG calendar for $25 each. The calendar featured photos and bios of actual rescue dogs, providing a glimpse into the lives of these furry companions while also serving as a keepsake for their adoptive families. The calendar proved to be a popular item among visitors, contributing to the organization's fundraising efforts.

Ballarat and Morwell Community Food Centres are designed as a food ecosystem, with purpose-built warehouses, training kitchens, vegetable gardens, and supermarkets. The goal is to create a self-sustaining community where people can access healthy food, learn new skills, and develop food literacy.
The Community Food Centres are designed with the needs of vulnerable people in mind.
The Farms to Families markets, which will operate out of the centres, will provide uninterrupted access to nutritious, healthy food.
The training kitchen will offer cooking classes, and the vegetable garden will provide horticultural training.
These Community Food Centres are more than just a place to access food; they are a place where people can learn new skills, develop food literacy, and improve their health and well-being.
By providing access to healthy food and opportunities for education and training, these centres have the potential to transform the lives of vulnerable people in the Ballarat and Morwell communities.
Foodbank's new Community Food Centres in Ballarat and Morwell are designed to be much more than just Food Banks.

These centres represent a new and innovative approach to tackling food insecurity and improving the health and well-being of vulnerable people.
Foodbank's Big and Bold plan to nourish entire regions
Foodbank Victoria's monthly market offers fresh fruit and vegetables brought by road from their Yarraville warehouse and provided free of charge to anyone in need.
This market feeds more than two hundred local families every month. However, with many families still relying on unhealthy, low-cost food to fill the gaps, there was a need for a big, bold idea. Foodbank's new Community Food Centres will provide the critical missing link between Foodbank's supply of healthy food, the work of local community partners, and those needing food relief in Regional Victoria.
The Community Food Centres are a permanent and sustainable solution that is always accessible to the community, enabling healthier food
choices through cooking programs and employment pathways through training.
Pressroom Philanthropy's donation of plant equipment, including a state-of-the-art packing line and farm equipment, will play a significant role in supporting Foodbank Victoria's admirable commitment to delivering fresh and nutritious food to disadvantaged communities across Victoria.
With the added resources, the innovative Community Food Centres can continue to provide healthier food options, education, and training to vulnerable individuals, ultimately transforming their lives and creating a brighter future for all.
Foodbank Victoria has been feeding Victorians in need for more than 90 years. Last year, a record 22 million meals were delivered through a network of more than 450 charity partners and 1,000 schools across the state.

New signage gives Oliva's Place a facelift
Olivia's Place is a wonderful charity that provides support and assistance to families during the early stages of pregnancy and parenting.
With their new home receiving a facelift in the form of new signage, this valuable community resource is more visible than ever before. The new signage, designed and installed by Pressroom Philanthropy, not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the building, but also helps visitors find their way around the facility.
At Olivia's Place, families can access donated goods that have been recycled, as well as a range of professional family support services. This includes assistance with prenatal care, birth planning, and early childhood development.
Pressroom Charity Partners at the FIA Conference 2023
A lucky group of Pressroom Charity Partners received free entry to attend the Fundraising Institute of Australia’s (FIA) Annual Conference, in return for volunteering to help run the event.
The conference took place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from the 22nd - 24th of February 2023.
The charity's team of experienced professionals provides guidance and support to families who may be struggling to navigate the challenges of parenting during the first year of a child's life.
The new signage for Olivia's Place is a significant improvement, as it helps to increase the visibility of the charity in the community. The 7-meter image is striking and eye-catching, and it serves as a reminder of the important work being done by this organization.
Additionally, the wayfinding signage makes it easier for visitors to find their way around the facility, ensuring that they are able to access the support and resources they need.
Overall, Olivia's Place is an invaluable resource for families in Gippsland, and the new signage helps to ensure that it is accessible and visible to those who need it most. With the support of the community and organizations like Pressroom Philanthropy, Olivia's Place will continue to provide vital assistance to families during this important and challenging time.
Olivia's Place is committed to supporting families through the highs and lows of pregnancy and early parenting.
This group of like-minded individuals, all looking to take fundraising to the next level at their Charities, had the opportunity to attend conference sessions, visit the exhibition hall and network with delegates (between their volunteering duties).
This fantastic conference is often far too expensive for emerging charities to attend (a full price conference ticket for non-FIA members is $2,780) yet, they are likely to be the ones who would receive the most benefit.
