a note from your luminary circle team Reinvention and innovation seem to be the new way of life these days, and to be honest, it is a little exciting to see how creative the Foundation staff can be. As you may have heard, Laughter this year, though virtual, was a huge success and was a big hit with our attendees! Our annual Luminary Circle luncheon will be equally as great this year, as we have found an amazing way to bring the event into your home while eating lunch together on November 11th. We can't wait to hear your feedback. Invites went out this week via email. We also found a way to make sure we are still able to hold a flu shot clinic this year, and will be holding a drive-thru flu shot clinic on October 8th exclusively for our Luminary Circle members. Those invitations went out already, so take a moment to check your email and RSVP. If you don't see an invite in your inbox, be sure to check your spam. If not, please take a moment to update your email by sending it to luminary@phs.org. We miss seeing your faces, particularly at our events. We hope that we can make up for lost time in the near future. Until then, we are here for you! Helping You Navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic As you know, the situation with COVID-19 is changing rapidly. We are doing our best to keep all patients and members up to date on new guidance and additional measures we must take as an organization to keep our community and workforce safe. Presbyterian now only has two COVID-19 testing sites available for Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Testing is available to those who are symptomatic, have recent travel, or known exposure. In Albuquerque, Presbyterian offers testing at 5200 San Mateo Blvd NE, 87109. (Entrance is on McLeod Rd. ) Monday-Friday 8am-4pm Saturday and Sunday 8am-2pm Scheduling and Questions: 505-923-6800 Online Screening and Registration highly recommended. In Santa Fe, Presbyterian offers testing at 454 St. Michael's Dr. 87505 Monday- Friday 9am-12pm Scheduling and Questions: 505-772-6843 *Must have an appointment! Walk-ins not accepted. New Facility Elevates Breast Care in NM A patient's journey through breast cancer has many stages. From the initial diagnosis to treatment, post-treatment and survivorship, patients and their families rely heavily on a wide variety of medical resources to guide and support them. The new Presbyterian Breast Care facility is designed to meet the needs of breast care patients every step of the way. A joint venture between Presbyterian Health Plan (PHP) and Radiology Associates of Albuquerque (RAA), the new $5.5 million, 22,000-square-foot Presbyterian Breast Care facility will be located on the second floor Physician Office Building 2, currently under construction. The facility, which is adjacent to Rust Medical Center, is slated to open in mid-2021. Presbyterian Breast Care’s range of services include complex/oncoplastic breast surgeries for cancer, surgery for benign breast disease, management of high risk breast disease, prophylactic mastectomy for women with high lifetime risk of developing breast cancer, as well as lymph node biopsy, sentinel node procedures, and lymph node dissections. The facility will also offer a variety of percutaneous procedures, including cyst aspiration, placement of devices for partial breast radiation therapy, cryoablation for fibroadenomas and selected breast cancers, and ports for chemotherapy.

Presbyterian PACE Academy has found its teacher... The Presbyterian Pace Academy, the hospital-based education program for our pediatric hematology/oncology patients, is excited to announce that it has found its teacher in Joan Kirby Hromas. Joan has lived and worked in New Mexico for 20 years as a special educator in the public sector, specializing in math and reading intervention for a variety of grade levels. At Presbyterian, she will help hospitalized pediatric patients manage their schoolwork and ease their re-entry into a regular classroom setting once they're healthy enough to return to school. "I am so excited to be part of the Presbyterian team, where the legacy of caring and respect directly intersects with my role as a teacher," said Joan. "I want to connect families and schools, and overall promote engagement, curiosity and confidence in our students." The Pace Academy is a partnership between Presbyterian Children's Care and the Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation and is being funded by the Kathie Winograd Educational Excellence Fund. The goal is to make the program available free of charge to pediatric patients requiring extended hospitalization.
