Nurse Betty embarks on third consecutive decade at Emporia Presbyterian Manor

February marked an important milestone for nurse Betty Lauppe as she celebrated her 20th year on staff at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. Now entering her third decade at the community, Betty credits those she is surrounded by—and a sense of duty to those she serves—for keeping her going.

Our hard-working environmental services team is always up for the challenge. We are thankful for them!

Housekeeping, maintenance teams honored for commitment

“I enjoy working with the staff and residents but mostly, I just enjoy taking care of the residents and meeting their needs,” said Betty Lauppe Betty. Betty began her career on our campus as an aide in the health center but is currently an LPN on the assisted living floor where she has developed strong bonds with those she cares for. “You really get to know them and their routines,” said Betty. “I have a lot of fun with them.” While the coronavirus has wreaked havoc on the everyday lives of most of those in the health care industry, Betty says that she and her coworkers have been mostly spared, however the same cannot be said of the residents. “Not much has really changed about what we do, but it has definitely impacted the residents since they have had to stay inside,” said Betty. Away from work, Betty enjoys doing puzzles and meeting friends for coffee. She and her husband, David, have been married for 42 years and she is a mom to two children and three step-children. ◆

In September, staff members responsible for keeping Emporia Presbyterian Manor looking good and working well were celebrated during national Environmental Services Week. Collectively known as the Environmental Services (EVS) team, staff members were recognized for their teamwork, commitment and adaptability.

“Our EVS team is an ‘all hands on deck’ type of team,” said Caitie Stineman, human resource director at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. “They consistently meet the changes and demands for each day, whether planned or not.” TEAMS - continued on page 2
