Newton Presbyterian Manor Art is Ageless® exhibit and reception feature senior artists Newton Presbyterian Manor will host its annual Art is Ageless® exhibit March 7 – 22 to celebrate local senior artists. Art is Ageless is a trademarked program of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®). The program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity. “Art is Ageless is a joyful program, meant to celebrate seniors,” said Sarah Schmitt, life enrichment director. “Art provides an avenue for older adults to express their creativity and showcase their talents and we love sharing that with the entire Newton community.” The first Art is Ageless calendar was published in 1981, featuring art from Presbyterian Manor community residents. Since then, the program has expanded to include a juried art competition open to all seniors aged 65 and older. The Art is Ageless exhibit will be held at Newton Presbyterian Manor and will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 7 – 22. The public is welcome to view the exhibit of acrylics, oils, photography, and various other mediums, ranging from amateur to professional levels. Winning pieces at the community level move on to a masterpiece level judging to determine which pieces are featured in the annual calendar and note cards. In addition to the exhibit, Newton Presbyterian Manor will honor the artists who entered artwork in the exhibit during a reception at 2:30 p.m. March 7. STAFF SPOTLIGHT:
Krista Scott Newton Presbyterian Manor welcomed Krista Scott to the leadership team in January as the new Assisted Living Director. Krista most recently comes to us from Wesley Hospital where she was an orthopedic nurse and she worked in the surgery clinic at McPherson Hospital. Her career in health care also includes working as a wound nurse, a charge nurse, a nurse manager, director of assisted living in Hutchinson, director of memory care in Buhler and a MDS coordinator in Halstead. She has an LPN license and an IV certification. Krista has four grown kids and enjoys spending time with her husband and two pit bulls, Foxy and Saint. Some of her favorite hobbies are fishing, traveling, and baking. Welcome to the team, Krista! u
