Volunteer specializes in bringing joy to community Becky Panchot has been a mainstay at Farmington Presbyterian Manor ever since her mother-in-law became a resident at the community several years ago. Since that time, Becky has made it her mission to bring a regular dose of joy and happiness to all who call it home. “Becky is always there for the residents—greeting them with a smile and her bubbling personality,” said Melanie Marshall, Farmington Presbyterian Manor’s volunteer coordinator. One of the primary ways Becky does this is by spearheading a group of women to throw a monthly birthday Bingo event held at the community—going so far as even purchasing all of the prizes. Becky is also a member of the community’s mission committee where she has done everything from holding bake sales to helping organize the community’s 60th anniversary event. Currently, Becky is organizing the annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet scheduled for Noon on April 11. The theme for this year’s banquet is “Giving Joy to Others” which will feature a buffet lunch and musical entertainment—culminating with the announcement of the 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award. Thank you, Becky, for your ongoing service to the community. u
Farmington Presbyterian Manor is preparing for a special delivery of Pearl’s Memory Babies. Pearl’s Memory Babies is a nonprofit organization that helps those with Alzheimer’s and dementia by gifting baby dolls and puppies for residents to interact with. It all started when a founder of the company gave a family member a baby doll when they were sick with Alzheimer’s. The doll was the only thing that would soothe them. After witnessing the same interaction with a friend distressed with Alzheimer’s, they created Pearl’s Memory Babies to share with others. “We are planning a baby shower for our residents on the date of the delivery and are going to have pink and blue balloons and pink and blue cupcakes,” said Carol Winch, life enrichment director. More information coming soon! u
