Fall Television Highlights
Muhammad Ali, a new four-part documentary series from Ken Burns, profiles one of the most indelible figures of the 20th century—a three-time heavyweight boxing champion who captivated millions of fans with his mesmerizing combination of speed, grace, and power in the ring, and charm outside of it. September 19-22 at 7 pm From Minnesota producer Deb Wallwork, The Butterfly Effect is a delightful inquiry into the efforts being made to save the monarch butterfly. This humorous little film about the Minnesota prairie is meticulously crafted, lyrical, philosophical, and yet educational. Thursday, September 23, at 9 pm The special series In Their Own Words continues with former President Jimmy Carter. Hear the inspiring story of this longshot outsider who fought his way to the top office in the world, beat the odds against him again and again, and who has continued in retirement to better the lives of millions. Tuesday, September 28, at 7 pm Fifty-five million Americans say they use cannabis, and that number is expected to grow as voters increasingly push for legalization. In The Cannabis Question, NOVA investigates the story of cannabis, from its criminalization to the latest medical understanding of the plant. Wednesday, September 29, at 8 pm
